Good morning Patrick, I wanted to ask you something. When you have to leave the house to go to work or to get the car, do you wait for the bears to move away or do you make them move away? I have seen that they are very tame but I have never seen you go among them in the lawn, always stay near the entrance to the house.
@@ayrton7488 I've seen one video where he was in the yard with either Ruby or Simone... It looked a little iffy lol The bear wasn't real comfortable with it and that was pretty clear.. I think the bears like him to be where they're used to him being lol There might be more videos like that but I just haven't seen them yet 😊

I have spent months watching the Bears of Katmai during the salmon run. Suddenly, Luca looks like a harmless cub compared to some of the “fat bear week” grizzly contenders estimated to be 1400ish pounds. She has a beautiful coat. 😁

She looks great! And this solves the mystery about the huge bear that visited a while back that you thought may be a super-sized pregnant Luca... that must have been another old friend stopping by to check out a good place to den-up this winter (under Pat's Porch! lol) .
I like the little bear sign. I see it as a “Bears Welcome” sign. It looks like Luca remembers Patrick, but she doesn’t visit him enough to be as relaxed as Simone and Ruby. As always, Patrick is doing the right thing: letting Luna get used to him - with a barrier so she feels safe. I think Patrick left out some food that is virtually identical to what bears eat in the wild, which I think is genius! The food is healthy, but it’s their normal diet, so it’s not a strong encouragement for the bears.
Even though thee’s no longer bird seed available, the bears still comfortable hanging around with Uncle Patrick !
Wow! I often wondered what became of Simone's first litter--Luca & Milo, and at least 50% of my question was answered with this posting. Now it makes me wonder if she and Simone ever cross paths. Luca looks so beautiful, and she's still as shy as ever. AND she's got her mom's traits laying down like that while she grubs.

@@chasethecat3839 well if your planting it for yourself they can't refute that, they can only assume, and if Yogi and boo boo managed to come across some nuts and berries oh well maybe it was meant to be that's my theory anyway I would plant it for them so it would come back for them every year
I wonder if there are rules for living in the mountains surrounding Asheville. If so, I bet planting gardens could be a no-no because of the bears. They may have rules like the restrictions in neighborhoods and subdivisions in town. Asheville is a very nice city with a large artistic community. Tourists flock there. Autumn is probably a big tourist season because of the fall foliage there in the mountains. I think they have a good handle on the bear/human contact as much as is possible.
Berry patches abound in that area & mulberry trees 🌳, God provides for His Glorious creation until the 3 letter agencies step in and say it's against their law. THEY BETTER WATCH OUT FOR LIGHTNING 🌩 😤.
