I Made The Legend of Zelda Boss Battles but they’re 3D. . . Last time when I made The Legend of Zelda but it’s 3D, I said at the end of the video that I might continue on with the dungeons and boss fights in another video since I had never made a boss at that point. After a couple months I’ve finally finished up with doing all the different dungeons, along with the enemies and the bosses.

_"I don't know how to program snake"_ **Proceeds to make the full **_The Legend of Zelda_** from zero**
it might sound weird but its actually easier to understand and make most of the game mechanics in Legend of Zelda than the grid based Snake movement lol
@@magma5267 I would say it's not that hard. Snake is essentially a linked list where each node passes location info one way (to the back.) Sometimes the head also passes an instruction to add a segment; the node that has no segment to pass to creates one and just passes the location instruction back to it same as always. For a more complex snakelike game such as Serpentine (Bröderbund, 1982) where segments can be added or removed, instead of sending on its own location it sends on the previous segment's location unchanged.
All it's missing is, "Bruh, hold my beer!"
@@hyperbaroque I like your funny words magic man
@@hyperbaroque Way I did it is weird. I made a 2D array of ints, and the snake is drawn at positions where the value is > 0 in this array. Every number in the array is counted down by 1 every move. The initial value of the "head" of the snake is incremented when eating an apple. The snake also has to move every turn, so the leftover values in the array are the tail of the snake. If the snake's head is going to go into a position where the existing value is > 0 then the game is lost.

2:50 fun fact about the original legend of Zelda. The reason all the dungeons fit together is because when you do that they take up the same amount of space as your overworld map that normally occupies the top left-hand corner of your screen, when you enter a dungeon, you’re not actually leaving the overworld the game merely in prints from that overworld map to your screen you were in the exact same spot in the game. This is amazing, amazing work. I'm so blown away. I do have some ideas, but I really hope you dont mind, as its excellent. 1. The typeface of your HUD feels too modern 2. The Link sprite changes colour depending on the dungeon 3. In Zelda, the camera is static, and link moves. It may seem more inkeeping with the original game, to keep the camera locked into pointing vertically in every room (with some movement like luigi's mansion), and then the camera moves over as Link leaves the area. Its a personal preference, but then I think it would play a bit more like zelda. Really hope you dont mind my suggestuons. Truly think its amazing. Well done! I've been learning Unreal4 but this is nothing short of amazing.

A few things to note on the statues. 1 - They don't stop firing when you kill the enemies, they actually start firing faster since there are fewer sprites on-screen. 2 - The statues are part of the room, not technically an enemy. I don't know how Zelda is coded, but presumably there is an invisible enemy where they are that shoots fireballs to make it look like the statues are.

awesome work. You could avoid doing extra recolor textures by adding blendmodes to your material (you could find such a shader online i assume) that way you can simply "tint" your base texture to any color you need. And regarding the water on the previous video, you could've made an "always on top" shader, that renders on top of the floor. On second thought that might've been problematic... I'm making a game and most of my assets have vertexcolors and i recolor them all like crazy using materials with blendercolors and it's a blessing. Of course using textures opens up the possibility of giving these recolors more detail and differences, but since it's not your case, you should do it!
This is really impressive. This looks like it would be really fun to play. A small note about the dodongos: the dislike smoke warning is actually a hint that if they are in the smoke of a bomb they become vulnerable to the sword for a short time

you know, this type of stuff would be fun to see done by Nintendo themselves for their anniversaries for example. all they do is just release the same old games without any touch ups of major difference or do something new like making a 3D version as shown here
You know all the (Nintendo owned) NES and SNES games are on Virtual console or now on the Nintendo Online switch subscription. Mostly because not many people would actually buy these games for full retail price, since they don't offer that much content and are generally unfairly hard to compensate for the lack of content.

Wow, so much work. Great content. Did you know... You can also use the flute in the over world to summon a whirlwind that teleports you to completed dungeons.
I know this video's a bit old, but here's a tip to save time making textures! If you make your textures greyscale using four distinct levels of brighness as your colors for the pixels, you can write a shader that uses the value of the pixel as a coordinate for a lookup texture, array of colors, or gradient! That way you only have one texture for each unique "surface", and you can vary the color of it using different materials! It's a similar technique as how the NES did its sprite work back in the day, that's why old games have so many duplicate or shared sprites that vary only in color, the palette that the game was using to render was literally swapped! :)
Can we just appreciate the fact that Cody literally made this whole thing?

As a huge fan of the original Zelda who has played it since I was a toddler... a few things. 1: Different rooms and areas spawn when you move to the edge of the screen. Now... you've done way too much work to change this now and I don't have an especially big issue with the way you made them all into three chunks (overworld, labyrinth 1, labyrinth 2) but I think it adds to the clausterphobic feeling. The original Zelda felt huge compared to other games of its time. Like, going from one side of the overworld to the other was a real grueling journey. If you do something like this again consider scaling thinks up or shrinking link and his foes down a little. 2: When Link dies the game stops, he spins as an ominous melody plays, then pops. 3: Moving a block takes a moment of effort to keep it from happening on accident and it moves to a fixed location. 4: Tree-bushes likewise don't vanish when the fire touches them. Its end cycle has to line up with them. 5: Blue candles fire once per screen. As it is all on big area a cool down might due for this. Flames also disappear after a moment and the red candle wasn't that rapid fire. Remember touching the flame hurts Link and most enemies. 6: Recorder/Flute/Whistle summons tornadoes that take you to a random labyrinth you've beaten when played in the overworld. It doesn't in labyrinths or in the lake area. 7: Levers are slower when burrowing or coming back up, and they come back up near Link when possible. 8: The reason given for link not damaging peahats in flight is they are too high up to reach... you have them pretty close to the ground. Projectiles logically should hit then though on a 2d plane, and they are described as ghost flowers in the manual. Maybe some opacity could fix this and be a good compromise. 9: The ladder and raft only work in specific locations... but I am fine with your creative liberties here. 10: Bobbles are invincible but don't have any collision with Link's sword. You can't knock them back like that. 11: Likelikes grab you and hold you in place a few seconds. ... I am okay with you not doing this, inability to move is one of the most obnoxious videogame mechanics ever made. 12: Dodongos can also be stunned by a bomb not in their open mouth, which makes them vulnerable to the sword. They really don't like smoke. 13: The manhandla... sorry... had a nam flash back there... it gets FASTER the more heads you take off and can push you into a corner and just fuck you up if you aren't careful. Yes. If you hommage this game you should make it as hard as the original. It isn't the most Nintendhard game out there but I have forced a few Dark Souls fans to recognize crippling difficulty did NOT start with their series. 14: Digdogger isn't easier to defeat post recorder. It is impossible to defeat without it. You literally can't hurt it until you have a jam session. 15: Use 🍖 was definitely not there in the game. Cryptic BS is also an important legacy of this game and others from its era. Not sure if you did these, but... lighting round! Link's shield protects his flank when in mid item use/attack. He is vulnerable to projectiles then. Some rooms are pitch black and you can only see enemies and yourself until you create fire with either candle or the wand. Keese and gels can be killed with the boomerang including on its return trip, and it is insanely satisfying. Red/Orange wizrobes don't move around. They vanish then teleport and shoot magic at link. Blue ones move, but can turn incoporeal and jumpacross the room. Enemy bosses can be heard roaring through the walls when you are in a room next to their's. Manhandla's body is invincible and will block projectiles... so if you take out all heads except the one on the opposite side it um... ... I don't want to talk about it. Some Gohma's shoot beams. Nitpicking over. You otherwise done good son, wish I could play it.
I Wish there was a way to play this 😩 Amazing job!
