  • Connected by a wedding veil. The story begins in 1903, when Margaret Merritt Lee wore the exquisite rose point lace veil when she married James T. Lee, a prominent New Yorker. Some 50 years later, her granddaughters Jacqueline Lee Bouvier and Mary Lee Ryan continued the tradition at their own weddings. In 1953, Jacqueline Bouvier married then-Senator John F. Kennedy; her first cousin, Mary Ryan, wore the veil in 1957 when she wed William A.V. Cecil, grandson of George Vanderbilt who constructed Biltmore.

  • Great job! So fun to absorb all the fashion and history. One correction: Sheila Rauch and Joe Jr. were not both 26 when they got married. She was 3-4 years older. And she also challenged the Catholic annulment he petitioned for when they divorced. (She even went to the Vatican to have it reversed! She wasn't Catholic, and was very bitter.) I would love to see film of Patrick Kennedy's wedding (Ted's youngest). He and his wife have a bunch of kids and he's such a great advocate for mental health awareness. Thanks again!

  • “Optimism and possibility” is what you say for Jackie and John F Kennedy. That quote defines the look in Jackie’s eyes and smile but I would add the word innocence. As Jackie’s life goes year by year you see these lights die and/or become tainted. It is truly sad. JFK already had a little less of the innocence as was normal for the men and women who served in WW2. So sad. I would question she found “happiness” with Onassis. Security? YES. I had never known the Vatican was against the marriage. Learn something new every day. 🙂 Interesting how Maria Shriver looks like both her parents at the same time. 🙂 You have a good voice for narration and well presented videos. New subscriber. -A 😃

  • Why is it people have too criticize what happens after a Catholic wedding? It happens in all religions, to all people not just Catholics ! When they fell in love , that was the furthest thing in their minds ! They’d met the love of their lives, didn’t wonder about how their lives would change forever! Come on people it happens to all of us , let’s not criticize only bcoz they’re the Kennedys & Catholic!
