Sorry, don't have any specific tips. I have a couple general tips: Don't drop your camera Use a tripod whenever possible Make sure your batteries are charged Bring a spare memory card 😁
That being a charged battery is a good one that I actually forget too often 🤣
@@TheEverydayDad Yep, same. Memory card too. Fortunately I was close to home🤣
bring a few more batteries
@@araiso8672 Another great tip!
The Everyday Dad if you have the A6400 plugged in via HDMI to the Atomos, does the flip screen still show the on screen info such as iso/shutter/focus-box, while the atomos receives a clean HDMI ?
I bought it yesterday after saving for a couple of months. Now, need to learn using it properly. Thanks to vidéo like these, it will help a lot thx
Got one coming tomorrow. This video has the most practical info out of the good hundred I have watched so far. Great tips.
I just got my a6400 a few days ago, awesome tips! This is the first video of yours I have seen, but immediately subbed after watch. I am a beginner in content creation and am sometimes overwhelmed at the sheer amount of topics I still need to learn. It’s really nice when someone makes videos like this tailored towards beginners to ease that learn curve and set us up for success with our gear. Thank you!
I picked one up today and I fell in love with it!
Clear image zoom just blew my mind. Awesome tips man! Thanks...
Watched all your videos on this camera and bit the bullet and got it, so excited to try it out. Thanks for these tips got it all set up to use!
thank you for making this so simple. I just want something that works out of the camera. Thanks
Loved these tips. I plan on purchasing this camera and utilize these awesome tips
Thanks friend for sharing! Loving the a6400 and all it can do, your tips were spot on. By far the best camera I've ever owned! Good Flying!
THANK YOU! 16 year Canon user, just bought the a6400 and the Sigma 30mm 1.4 and was frustrated I could not get it to track in video and was overwhelmed by the menu (seriously don't understand how anyone can find anything beyond basics in it without someone like you helping). Have watched a lot of your videos lately (you really helped push me to pull the trigger and purchase the a6400) and enjoy them all. Thanks again and PLEASE keep posting. Subscribed! Hope helps you push over 100K subscribers :) you deserve it.
Immensely enjoying my A6400. Thanks for the tips.
Thanks for these tips! My a6400 is coming in the mail tomorrow, and I'm excited to pair it up with my a7iii.
Wow, new to your channel! Solid, simple, straight to the point info/content! Love it!!
Just about to get this camera. Found your tips useful. Thanks.
O my goodness!!! That mini zoom function with the sigma lens, I needed it for my cooking tutorials! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much!!! By the way, I have both the sigma 16mm and the kit lens, but for cooking, I prefer to be using the sigma because... Blurry background 😂 and I just bought both the camera with the kit lens and the sigma, so I've been learning a lot about how to use the both properly and your videos have been of great help to me! Thanks once again.
Brilliant. Loved your video and all the really useful tips. Thank you. Now just need to wait for my birthday to open up my present - an A6400, which replaces my A6000. Very excited. Even more so after watching this 😊
Great job.....lots of information presented in a no nonsense easy to comprehend style. I subbed!
Thanks so much! 😁👍
great tips with some of the menus. thanks!
I just picked up my new 6400 a couple of days ago and this video was SO good! I got so many helpful, usable tips and tricks out of it. It was really easy to follow and understand without dragging on! Thank you so much for the help! Phoebe x
Nice! I hope you enjoy it, it’s such a fantastic camera 😁👍
What settings u use for video? Log or rec?
Well first of all my salute to your awesome energy. Secondly Thank you so much for great A6600 Sony review. The stunning crystal clear crispy video of A6600 is mind blowing. I can see tinny drop of water on the leaf OMG. Love it. Thank you again 🙏
❤❤❤best content on a6400 ever! Thanks so much for this review
Thanks for the tips. Some of them are very useful.
Great tips. The bracket/bar I picked up from Best Buy (on sale for around $10) has a sturdy handle making it great for mounting the mic and vlogging. It has two shoe mounts. I suggest a wireless lav mic with a headphone jack and vol control. Provides on the fly audio monitoring and vol adjustment without having to go into camera functions. I picked up a Saramonic wireless lav for a around $100. Audio quality is superb and now I have a headphone jack (a feature some grip about is missing from the a6400) and an easy to carry vlogging set up with an unobstructed flip up monitor.
Thanks for the tips.. I will use them for my new camera... great video. Liked and subscribed.
Learned some new things today! Thanks Man!!!
Very good info here that I didn’t find in the 100 or so other A6400 vids I’ve been. He king out. Thanks! Sub’d.
Thank you for the tips!
Nice Tips ! I bought one today to improve the video quality of my youtube vids. Cheers
Awesome tips man! I haven't messed with the lossless zoom but it looks pretty awesome.
Been working with my A6400 for about 3 weeks now and your channel has helped a lot with me mastering it. I am really starting to fall in love with this camera. I always shoot in a picture profile. I use Cine 2 and slog 3 for that is just my personal preference. Especially when using Luts for color grading. Thank you for spreading your knowledge about this camera.
Nice! I’m glad it’s working out for you 😁👍
sethu madhaven not with the A6400! It’s a great camera especially for its price. A low light beast.
Thanks Gary! Some great tips 👍🏼
Thanks so much! Hope it was able to help 👍
The clear image zoom trick is fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
It sure looks like you still lose image quality to me. Its just digital zoom with some processing to make it look better.
It's not digital zoom, which enlarges the pixels, clear image zoom crops the sensor - which in 4K is using a 6K portion of the sensor (so cropping the 6K image can still provide for a solid 4K video).
Clear image zoom doesn't work in RAW or video according to the Sony website. What you're describing with cropping isn't clear image zoom. Clear image zoom keeps the centre of the image untouched and uses some kind of advanced interpolation and/or other algorithms to achieve better picture quality than you would with regular digital zoom. It's definitely not lossless though which you can easily see at 2x zoom, but to zoom in just a little bit like 1.1-1.4x it's definitely useful as the quality remains very good.
Tips that I can share is to keep the 180 degree shutter, set to S priority mode in Video and then let Auto ISO dictate the noise. Works most of the time very well (except probably vlogging, which I dont do). Use a CPL in bright light to not only get less light in (shallow DOF) but also cut reflections. A CPL is one of the best filters you will invest in. Use the Vivid mode, works better than PP1 mode (to my eyes)
Wow everybody's talkin about ibis, flipout screen, time lapse, good backlight performance, and eye af, but CLEAR IMAGE ZOOM IS NEW! thks for bringin that up
lo de iniciar grabación con el disparo es un total descubrimiento! solo eso valió el video y liberó una tecla personalizada. Excelente!
Mine will be here on Wednesday! Crazy pumped and this video is FANTASTIC timing! Thanks!
That’s awesome! I hope you enjoy it 😁👍
It is a Sony so I am pretty sure I will like it! Plus anything is better than my iPhone for recording even if it did the job to get me going!!
Great tips Gary. You know your stuff.
Well thanks so much!
This was great thanks!
Great video. It would be great if you could make another video with tips for the sony a6400 and the sigma 30mm and 16mm.
another good video - thanks!!
Great video! Thank you 👏
Dope video and good vibes! A6400 or fujifilm xs10?
Hi! I recently came across your channel trying to see if a specific camera was worth the purchase and I ended up digging deep into your channel! I'm looking for a mirrorless camera preferably that has good quality, auto focus, battery life, and video quality/audio but mostly for pictures! Do you have any suggestions that come to mind?
Great tips. I’m looking forward to making some killer coffee vids with the 6400!
How's it been since?
Thanks for the tips! I bought an A6400 yesterday, but I got the 18-135 lens. So far so good! Only bummer is that the thing is in Chinese, and it's impossible to switch to English as there's no option for it - can only switch to Japanese, Korean and a few other Asian languages. Good thing I studied some Chinese over the years while living here, otherwise that would've been a nightmare.
Very helpful! Ty
I just bought a a6400, been looking at your videos great tips and knowledge, what brand lens was the small 16-50mm?
Great work men, I like you.
Thank you !
The last advice with the dual thing is really good! I also do field recordings - so I was thinking if there's an adapter where you can mount the microphone on the bottom of the camera? Like a screw which gives you the same end on both sides so you can attach the microphone just directly onto the cam :D is that possible?
Awsome! Thank you
"I think Picture Profile 1, is one of the BEST" *Climbs tree* lolol omg I laughed so hard at that part...
I've been looking for a new camera for a while and this is one of my 3 options. I keep watching this video, your a7iii vs a6400 video, and the nikon z6 vs the a7iii and I just can't decide between these 3. I currently own a d7100 but I want to shoot my content in 4k. I do like the flip out screen of the a6400 and I like its features but then the a7 iii seems to have a better image and better bokeh plus the 5-axis stab. Then I could use my 3 nikon lenses in the nikon z6, but this has the annoying XQD cards...It's just very hard to decide! Also, the sony full frame lenses are pretty expensive..
That face tracking is amazing
Doppeee! Thanks for this
Great tipsss
I like your style :) Subscribed!
Do you have a link (or name) for the metal bar under the camera? Thx
Thanks broskie 👍🏽
I am really enjoying your videos on the a6400. Did I hear you mention that you cannot use touch to track if an external monitor is connected?
I'm waiting for Prime Day to see if the A6400 goes on sale. LOVED this video. You may have convinced me to get the body only and then buy the lenses I want (since the 16-50 does suck and the 18-135 is so large). Any tips on where to get some good quality used lenses? Other than ebay or the obvious. :)
3:24 Thanks for the picture profile info. Do you tweak PP1 Settings? If So, what do you change. Thanks again.
Do you have any tips for the stabilization? My 6400 with the steady shot on or off is the same shaky image :/
I dont even have an a6400 (or a sony camera at all anymore) but I am going to watch this whole video anyways!
Nice! Even if you don’t have an a6400 I hope it can still be useful 😁👍
Any Camera coming up in this budget ? I'm looking to buy A6400 or M6 Mark II this October, or do i need to wait for something new ?
How do you set up that clear image zoom on a custom button. Need a little more detail
Love your videos. Just getting into photography, been doing lots of research and thinking of getting the A6400 as my first camera. Hopefully its easy enough to use and allows me to grow as a photographer with it. 2 questions... 1. Can you share a link to the ND filter you used? 2. Any recommendations on the best lens for landscape shots?
I don’t do a lot photography but I’m under the impressions you want wide lenses for landscapes. And this was just the cheapest Nd filter I found on amazon 👍
Can we use the clear image zoom in taking photos? or only in videos?
Great tips! The only suggestion I'd make is; rather than shooting in aperture priority for video, since you don't want your shutter speed changing, shoot in manual mode with auto ISO and dial in your ND filter until your ISO starts to climb (especially handy since the a6400 shows what your auto ISO is!). That way, if clouds change or anything happens to affect exposure your shutter speed is locked in and only the ISO changes.
Thanks for the awesome tip! I’ll have to give that a shot 😁👍
Why not just set your movie mode to shutter priority and lock the SS at 1/60? Set ISO to auto (limit to 6400) so the the cam will auto adjust ISO and aperture to give you proper exposure. No ND filter needed and no chance to accidentally change aperture (as if in manual exposure mode).

World Manager Video Production because you want the aperture to be in check and not changing if you want shallow depth of field to isolate your subject. Nothing wrong with manual!
Going to try that!
Thanks for the tips. Great pointers for someone like me just starting out with the A6400. One small thing, though; you recommend using PP1 but that is just a preset. You also need to select a gamma profile to assign to it. Which gamma profile would you suggest?
Up
Got a link to that bar you mentioned?
Dude, you are one guy who is actually watchable! Great tips and cool stuff. My 6400 is showing up on Saturday, I can't wait! You remind me of someone else's dad.
I like the sound of "Hyper Log Gamma" 3:14 better than Hybrid Log Gamma. 😂
I know right?
I’ve a feeling that the photos from my 6400 is lacking the color punch. However the similar shots from Nikon z50 got better colors and contrast. How can I get the nice saturation with punchy colors right away? I am a hobbyist and do not want to go into post processing. Can I set a custom picture profile for photos in 6400
I have set up the MR dial so I can quickly choose between 4k and 1080/120. I was sad to see that this camera does not have the dedicated 1 and 2 on the dial itself. However, I found that this method does the trick for me... To set this I went into shutter priority with 1/50. Then set 4k/24. Auto Iso. Then Register to memory within settings. then again with 1/250 at 1080/120. auto iso. This allows me to quickly change to correct shutter speed and file format.
General question. I am shooting my videos at 4k 30fps and want to implement some slow motion into it. What would you recommend how to do it. Stay at 4k 30fps and slow down the Szene or shoot in 1080p in 60fps?
I get an special setting for BW... More powerful than Picture Profile (just for daylight)
Going to get a upgrade from my old nex5T with 16-50mm kit lens Just for vlogging and generally taking pictures (already had a video micro mic for my cellphone to vlog XDD) After I saw Lots of Camera review (also your g85 in 2019 video XDD) I'm struggle between the user friendly g85 and the new a6400 and those accessories needed within $1000 budget Which one would you choose tho ?
Great video. Love your style. This a6400 is my first camera ever, therefore I am having some operational issues. 1- I can not do slow motion. IDK how to do it. 2-The smooth skin feature only works before I Press record An I want to learn how to transfer my videos from the camera to my galaxy note10 using a usbc. Please help. Thx, 3-
The Eye AF function is unavailable when the mode dial is set to (Movie) or , or during movie shooting. Is it true? A6600 has movie eye af and this one doesn’t ? Great tips! I must know if autofocus 6600. And 6600 are equal
what's the small stabiliser you are using for your camera in the video?
For the a6400, what adapter i would need to use w/ my Sigma 30mm 1:1.4 DC HSM)? (now using on T5i)
Tip 6 - Clear Image Zoom does it work on Zoom lenses or only applies to Prime lenses?
What ND filter do you recommend for the A6400?
Where do I found that adorable ND filter for my 16-50mm kit lens???
Great vid! :) I think this Sony might be my next camera. Recently passed 10000 subscribers and I think it`s time to move on from my phone haha :D
Is picture profile 1 best for just photos or for videos too?
Any tip for the rolling shutter thing? Thanks
Heeeeeey, good tips!
Which ND filter do you recommend for the Kit lens?
Bro can you recommend a ND filter which fits to 16-50 kit lense??
I‘m very happy with my a6400! My first camera so can‘t compare it to any other... main decision was auto focus since my eyes aren‘t the best. Only in bad lighting conditions it fails sometimes.
Yeah it’s a really good little camera. The autofocus is one of the most reliable systems I’ve ever come across.
If poor lighting be sure to switch from Continuous AF to Single-shot AF with AF illuminator set to Auto. It is helpful and should get the shot, of course this applies to photos and not videos.
You can also bind any of the customizable buttons to Movie.
Im Confused. i want a prime lens for bokeh effect (thought of sigma 56mm 1.4) and a zoom lens for videography ( thought of 18-105 & 18-135 ) whats the best?
Hello can i use automatic audio recording?
Great ❤️👌👌👌
I JUST bought this camera on ebay with the 16-50mm kit lens. What would be the next lens you would recommend?
Ordered this as my Christmas gift and it gets delivered tomorrow. I honestly can’t wait so I’m watching all these setup videos so I know what to do. Heading out to the zoo tomorrow night so I’m looking forward to testing it out in low light. Thanks for the video!
