Another great review!! Nice to see you review a Reolink camera! Take advantage of these black friday deals while you can :)
Thank you!
do I have to connect power adapter on this from outside house to inside ? no Ethernet correct, is it all 4K wide and telephoto lens? also does it record motion up to a certain minutes and stop or will record motion until motion stopped. I know the arlo have a two minute motion and it stops recording after that even though there is still movement outside
Regarding the cold - we had both of ours installed all last winter with no issues on the plugin version even at like negative 30 F, the solar version struggled to keep battery charged between the cold draining it and the reduced sun light. I had to run a temporary power source to that one for awhile. Other than that they both performed the same, they’re nice for when we let the dogs out in our fenced in backyard and don’t want to stand out there in the cold
Thanks for sharing that!
Thanks for the great video! A newbie here. If you add a solar panel, is there much of a delay from the initial motion until the camera starts capturing? Also, how do you think the Reolink and Eufy S340 cameras compare? Which would you pick?
Thank you! Welcome to the Channel! The solar panel has no real impact on the recording. The camera acts as it would plugged into power. If I had to pick between the two, I’d go with the Eufy S340. Only because Eufy has a broader ecosystem and it’s more smart-home friendly. I also give the Eufy camera a slight edge in the general design.
@SilverHammerSurveillance thanks for the response! I asked about the solar panel bc I had heard that some cameras react slower to motion events when using a panel vs direct power.
Great review. I believe you said this records 24/7 is that continuous even if no motion ? And can you scrub video like you can with nest ?
Yes, if you use their NVR.
I have two of these bad boys.....the WiFi and WiFi battery solar powered . Very satisfied thus far.
Nice!
Great video, any chance there is a solar camera that turns and does HomeKit regardless of brand? I want to mount 4 around the house. Thanks
Unfortunately not. Not natively anyway.
Great video. Can it read a license plate if you zoom on the recorded video? say at 30-50 ft range on nightly footage?
License plates are never going to be possible to guarantee. It’s all about angle, distance & lighting conditions. But if those conditions align, yes this camera could.
We have two of these in our backyard, one is plugged in, the other has a little solar panel and battery. I like the pan, tilt & zoom, the app and the image quality. I wish it was easier to jump to events on the recording and we’ve had some issues where one of the cameras won’t pull up on our Amazon echo however I feel like the issue is on Amazon’s side because it pulls up on our phones and Google hub just fine
I would agree about the events, but it’s a minor gripe. I also noticed the same thing on my Amazon Show, but like you have no issues on my Google Hub Max. So yeah, must be an Amazon thing….freaking Amazon 😋
@@GeorgeLangabeer it’s more of a pain on the NVR cameras because of the 24/7 recording. The other thing with the trackmix is you need to buy micro sd cards and install them right away, otherwise it’s a pain to take them back down to install later if they’re up high. I didn’t have a spare one handy so I learned that the hard way
@Viewer765 This is my go to system: kzhead.info/sun/qK-rgrN9cImaoIU/bejne.html
I choose just what i need to see on the recording eg. just people, or vehicle or animals etc and that helps in my opinion.
Another great video! Thank you! And yes I wish it was Apple compatible too!!! Hard to know if it's Apple or the manufacturers but wish they would get it worked out! Peace & Love!
Thank you! I wish they would too. ✌🏻❤️
I notice a reolink app on the Apple App store or is this a different app?
Yes, Reolink has an app on the iOS App Store.
We have a Alibi wired camera system with a dvr not a cloud with only four ports available with four cameras attached but on the tv we can add more cameras is their a way to add more camera without buying a different dvr
You could get their cloud cameras, but they wouldn’t work with your DVR. You’d be better off upgrading to one of their NVR systems.
First off hope that you’re well. Would you consider rating other Reolink indoor cameras, curious to see which of their cameras you like most?
Thank you. Much appreciated. 🙏🏻 I would if they had one that interests me. But at the moment, none of their indoor models get me excited. But I’ll definitely keep it in mind!
Since they are the same price and have very similar features and since you have reviewed both, what is your feeling between this and the Eufy S340? 🤔
Once you’ve dealt with, or read about Reolink’s lack of tech support, the complexities associated with POE switches, NVRs, etc., having to manually update the firmware on all of your respective cameras more often than not, the atrocity of both the app vs desktop UI experience, the speaker / mic quality, and the fact that Reolink still doesn’t provide rich notifications - you’ll probably go running for Eufy.
@victorvek5227 That’s why I stick with Alibi Security on the wired NVR side of things. Great tech support & a superior product. On the WiFi side of things, Eufy is not much better in the categories you mention.
I am leaning towards getting this for use in Africa purely for the motion tracking and 4g capabilities. Are there any alternatives to consider? Back in my base in Africa, WiFi is expensive but 4g SIMs are affordable. Any advice with regards to alternative brands that's got 4g and active motion tracking?
Africa is huge. Which country?
Do these work with normal IP recorders like Hikvision? or are they app only.
This is the WiFi model. It needs to be a Reolink NVR.
This is an amazing camera and what a great review. I wonder what happens with a relatively high traffic area? How does it decide who to focus on? I have people passing by especially at 100ft distance. Will it pick them? Moreover, with all the cameras at home I have to put because there is a stalker I need to keep safe from, how can I quickly review people? With other systems like Tapo (TP Link) or Google Nest, I have to review each one if the videoclips. It is annoying and really time consuming. This is an important issue I want to solve. Can you please please help with the above asap?
Thanks! With multiple people it’s generally going to track the first person in view. At 100 feet, you’re going to need a better camera than this one. You’d need a good wired NVR system & maybe some cameras with Varifocal lenses. Or maybe a high powered PTZ camera with optical zoom.
Thank you so much for this. What would you suggest if I stayed with Reolink and not?
Do you review surveillance system that can’t be knocked out with a signal jammer?
Yes. Wired NVR systems like this one… kzhead.info/sun/qK-rgrN9cImaoIU/bejne.htmlsi=98pEKw2Eoac_cmzK
I love my Reolink 4k with NVR but they need to improve on the field of view , that 89 degree is terrible,it’s way too narrow. My logi-2 web cameras that I swapped out had 180 degrees. Reolink we need at least 120.
Just to be clear to others reading this…you’re talking about a different Reolink camera. The TrackMix WiFi has a horizontal FOV of 104 degrees-38 degrees. With a vertical FOV of 60 degrees-21 degrees. Plus this camera can pan 355 degrees & tilt 90 degrees (nearly 360 degrees). So the camera in this video is 104 degrees, not 89. Just don’t want to confuse anyone by your comment.
Just hope there are no issues. If you need to RMA a product you have to pay for shipping. After receiving a replacement, it failed after a few weeks. Reolink’s answer was to have me send this one back and pay for return shipping again. Reolink indicated I was going to be offered a gesture of their good faith, but Reolink would not tell me what this gesture would be until after I completed the RMA process at my expense. So, I must spend another $15 to find out what that gesture is.
That’s exactly why I always recommend going with professional grade, like my go to brand, Alibi Security. Then you know you’re getting the proper support.
What's the ethernet cable for?
You can connect the camera to a Reolink NVR
Somebody please test this camera in Blue Iris and Frigate. It looks like such a winner if it will also play nice with those two.
Randomly saw your comment and then saw this video where the guy eventually goes through a blue iris setup. kzhead.info/sun/eZmkidercHisY2w/bejne.htmlsi=Cbq4ElE8CG3I2MPc
This camera is designed to work with a Reolink NVR or as a stand alone WiFi camera.
my main issue witt this an reo link is it does not activate to sound
Sound is tricky with an outdoor camera. It opens you up to way too many false activations/notifications.
I have other ip cams eg d-link and it lets me do sound - I can adjust the db cut off and its fine. It just really anoys me that on such a great cameras the reo - it does nto have this function@@GeorgeLangabeer
Does it have auto tracking?
Yes it does.
Hey George how have you been?
Doing great. Feeling great. Loving life!
Come on Reolink to get cameras to Apple Home ! Not the other way around ! Apple still needs to support PTZ controls and 2K/4K video resolution anyway 😌
Also you can add Reolink to Google and Alexa on « raw » camera but NOT via NVR ???
Amen on all counts!
Best surveillance cameras are basically commercial cameras that actually work like hikvision or dahua All these other cameras are just marketing gimmicks for fools imo
That’s exactly why wired systems from Alibi Security are always going to be my recommendation. Hikvision & Dahua are both professional grade, but both have been banned by the U.S. government, so they are a tough sell for me. Alibi is NDAA compliant & here in the U.S., that’s important. But overall, yes I agree, a professional grade system is the way to go.
Hikvision sucks. We use it at work
Good Review, but think a pretty big Con is the lack of a manual to set up the camera in the App. I personally don’t think the software is user friendly. I am pretty literate, and can’t seem to get the camera to function the way I’d like. Also, Tech Support is non existent. I have tried several times to reach them, and there is NO ANSWER.
All of the above is exactly why Reolink will always sit a tier below professional-grade cameras.
My experience was actually pretty easy during setup, all though I agree the app could use a million dollar over haul to print it into 2024...also just downloaded the window client...surprisingly very easy to pull in the cameras already on my network...just clicked add device and they were found by the software scan.
??? $139.99 ??? Where sir. Your site reads $179.99 all due respect sir, did I miss sonething?
The prices for these cameras change all the time. It’s impossible for me to keep up & change it, each time they do. It’s currently $159.99 on their website (as of this morning).
@@GeorgeLangabeer Thanks for taking the time to respond, you did not have to. It is a sign of a professional, thank you once again.
