  • My heart goes out to all farmers at this time tiredness loss and constant battle to save live stock must be so so hard . I think being able to share your thoughts problems and wisdom is a great benefit from being alone and no communication 🙏🏻🐑

  • Hi Nicola, we have all hit the wall like this. I was there myself 2 weeks ago. Focus on the little wins, the stuff that wouldn't get done without your amazing experience, the help your dad and Davy provides. In 3 weeks lambs will be jumping around on a sunny evening and you'll be looking back thinking how well lambing went! You're all amazing and have a great set-up.

  • By the looks of all those healthy lambs out in that feild with the sunshine and green grass you know you are an exemplary farmer. Don't be hard on yourselves, you ca😢 be everywhere all the time and if you get hurt or get sick it will be so much harder. Please look after yourselves and each other.

  • Hi Nicola, its a busy time and working hard with the lack of sleep can make you feel a bit down. Your family is doing a great job with lambing and calving at the same time. There is always setbacks with farming and deaths occur. Its just a matter to just lift up your chin and keep going. The ewes and lambs are given every chance with all the supplements you feed them plus good rations. You only need to look at the lambs in the field with their mums to see what a terrific job your family is doing. The lack of sun and continuing rain puts a big dampener on your feelings, but just remind yourself things will change for the better. Chris from Australia 🇦🇺.

  • Hi from Australia... I just watched Sandi Brock's video, and she had one sheep down with preg tox and an early lamber that lost 2 out of 3 of her lambs. Several of the other sheep channels have had sheep sleeping on their lambs too... Farming is tough.... it definitely tugs at the heartstrings. You are doing great. Don't be too determined to get tough and not be upset. That comes with age. I always had a good cry in the shower when things got difficult and let the water wash away the tears. Thanks for being brave and sharing your hard times along with the good times. Congratulations to your sister for her new book... I've gone carnivore, so I don't need a copy, but it looks very interesting. I hope it sells well.

  • Chin up. Your doing great. God knows you've been through the mill the last few. Every little thing will get to you. I've had the same problem with the ewes when i brought in the ewes and changed the diet. Calcium under the skin seemed to sort it out. This year I've been feeding crystal licks and had no problems so far. Take care of yourself. Chin up 🫂 from Ireland

  • Thank you Nicola for always keeping your REAL in your REEL! I'm very grateful that you bring your Mum along while conversing with your Fans in here! Most times memories help us cope, but there are times when I'm thinking of my Parents and siblings who have since left to go save me a seat in Heaven, and after all these years the fresh sting of them being suddenly gone does ease up a bit, but the sadness never really goes away. We adapt as you are well aware and we find a way as out loved ones did when they had to endue loss as well in the younger self. Stay strong and Keep Strutting AND smiling! I will be getting your sister's cook book! Cheers From Across The Pond In COW-lumbus, Ohio MOO 👋

  • Great setup, Problems always come in bunches, Every year before lambing i just set my mind to whatever will be , will be, most issues are outside of your control anyway despite what the experts who sit in offices telling us what should be done say, Hate when animals lay on there young, most likely they will do it again, Great video and best of luck,

  • Typical weather. Its the same here in Ireland, raining one day, sunny the next and raining the next again

    @themacamorefarmer7880@themacamorefarmer7880Ай бұрын
  • All things considered, you are doing very well. The experience will stand you well in future. Some things are out of your control such as the weather. But it would be worth sitting down after lambing with all involved what went well, what didn’t and realistically should things be changed or to give it another lambing before making big changes. Also deciding if you need additional help in future and then learning to delegate and oversee. There was a very interesting point about cake and I remember my dad having similar issues 30 years ago due to the cake. We left the farm when I was 18 so no idea if this is a common problem now.

  • Good girl 👧 Nicola. I lamb my sheep outside and take them in for a couple Very little Sickness if any. The wet ground and the Fox is my biggest problem. I always Nicola if i had to put Sheep into a shed before lambing i would sell them. They were never made for a house 🏠. I admire you and the work you do. I find tiredness a problem. I'm only 57 but it beginning to show. Mind yourself. You're a smashing girl 👧 xxx

  • Get a tub of high protein powder that athletes use. I’ve been using it for years on any pregnant ewe that won’t eat especially for twin lamb disease, it’s an excellent way of getting nutrition into them. They’re usually better in no time. You can calculate exactly how much protein and energy to give them. I add a pinch of baking soda to prevent acidosis.

    • What kind of protein? Whey?

  • Great videos keep them coming ,we all ask why we have sheep at some point 😂.I’d imagine your twin lambs issue with ewes is change of diet and environment,ideally ewes would need to be housed 1 month before ,this may not be possible?Also have the ewes access to molasses in the fields beef they come in ?

Don’t think just work, when you are getting sad worried work some more and eat and sleep evry extra second you can until the lambing is over. And soon you will have learned to power nap standing 🙂 keep up the god work you are stronger then you think!
