  • Glenwood Canyon is one of the two best spots on I-70. The other one is San Rafael Reef and San Rafael Swell. Such variety! Thanks for sharing! At 19:24, "We'll jump ahead about 115 miles to our next stage." I understand not keeping this mileage in the video but it's still a great drive--fruit orchards north of Grand Junction and then the emptiness of far eastern Utah. If you drive across the San Rafael Reef and Swell, stop at each rest area/scenic area. It's worth getting out at each one and seeing more of the scenery of the Swell. Think of traveling through the country and settling it in the 19th century. When you head west towards the San Rafael Swell from Green River, UT, there's a sign which warns, "Next services, 100 miles." Incredibly empty and awesome country!

I do believe I'll be repeating our return from Idaho next Summer exactly how we returned in 2016. I wasn't really happy with my eastbound "swell" footage, and I'm still wondering why I didn't even have a camera rolling between Scipio & Salina. It was absolutely gorgeous through there. • Thanks for a revisit to a fantastic ride! I liked your song selection; they really do fit well! I made this drive solo westward in 2010 in a turbo Toyota Supra. The turbo had kicked in for the entirety of the San Rafael Swell climb, so I had to take a very scenic stop to let it cool! Eastbound is indeed prettier, and it was a happy accident that the car threatened to overheat just where I could enjoy the look back! All was fine. There are so many neat places and gorgeous scenery stretches through here. Indeed, video can't do any of it justice (following the river through the canyon walls towering above you on both sides, and then seeing the view from SRS), but your video does the best I've seen!

  • As a road nerd, I love your vids. As an even bigger climate/weather nerd, I 'd like to see a drive that captures the wonders of driving through different micro-climates. Such as, for instance, driving these kind of routes during cooler months where snow peaks are visible. There is one old video kicking around KZhead where a guy (about 10 or so years ago) drives up a mountain road somewhere on the Olympic peninsula in WA. As he ascends the mountain, the rainstorm turns to snow, which becomes heavier and more plentiful. (Granted it is not a freeway, but still)

  • This is a nice combination of some great previous videos. I like how you slowed down the westbound Swell drive (because I would change the playback speed to .75 on that one to enjoy it more, LOL). Did you enhance the colors on the eastbound swell? It seemed more vibrant to me (good). Also, I had enjoyed 18-04 for the long drive through Colorado (bookmarked it!) and the segment in the middle of this one was cool because I really liked the eastbound hills just east of Grand Junction on 18-04 so it was good to see the westbound angle on this one. Nice job, it lived up to it's billing.

    @wanilimbe@wanilimbe3 жыл бұрын
    • First off I live in Atlanta so it will be years before I'm back in that area. Second; the camera would not pick up much if anything beyond the headlights at night on those open stretches so basically that would be a waste of time even if I did get the opportunity which is highly unlikely. Third I enjoy that drive very much so I would purposely avoid doing it at night for the reason mentioned previously.
