In this video we walkthrough Uniswap for beginners, from setting up a Metamask account to interact with Uniswap to making an altcoin purchase.

This is the official chrome store, type in Metamask to search.
Create a new wallet, set your password and store your secret 12 phrases offline. DO NOT STORE ONLINE.
Pin Metamask to your Browser
Copy your ETH address from Metamask and send ETH to it/Alternatively buy ETH directly through Metamask
Research the tokens you like through www.coingecko.com/en
Launch uniswap.org/ and connect your Metamask
Select the market pair you wish to trade. Click SWAP
Ensure you have enough ETH on your Metamask balance to cover Gas costs
Wait for Confirmation (may take a while but sit tight)
View your Transaction on Etherscan etherscan.io/ simply past the transaction I.D. or follow the prompt from Metamask to view on Etherscan
Congratulations, you have Swapped your Tokens.
Lock your wallet after use (Click Metamask icon, click on the pie, select lock) You will then need to re-enter your password to get back onto your account.

question: to trade a coin on uniswap, you have to have those coins in your metamask wallet, correct? Example: Let's say I want to trade REEF for USDT on uniswap. I have to have Reef in my Metamask wallet, right?

Really enjoy your videos! Does Liquidity Provider Fee relate to Gas fees at all, or are they two separate fees for each transaction on Uniswap? Thank you!
They are two different things. Liquidity provider fee is 0.03% then the gas fee is dependent on network congestion and can range wildly, usually best early in the morning for me in the UK.

Open metamask. Scroll down to add custom token. Paste the contract address (find it on Coingecko) and add the token. You can then view it. It will still be in your wallet even if you haven't added it so no need to worry.

Wallet connect is utilized for many mobile wallets bud. That is how you connect Trust Wallet for example

As far as I know, you have to add a code related to that token in Metamask for your balance to show up. It's there, but you can't see it until you do. Not sure on the exact details but I remember seeing that in another vid.

What were you trying to buy? What error message did you get? You should wait til the gwei cost comes down. On Coingecko the gwei cost is shown next to BTC dominance.

What if I dont have a vpn? Would you advise doing this without one?
Nothing about this trade has to do with your network. Unless you actively search in etherscan, but thats a whole other topic. The areas of risk, which I presume your asking about, is more about addresses than anything. I guess I should say unless you think your hardware (computer, routing equipment, netwirk) is compromised, then no. If you think comprised or possibility of comprised (say, doing this in public place without opsec) then maybe?
