Build Co$t For This Project: Was It Worth It? m.kzhead.info/sun/i7RspZuJnpSDdIk/bejne.html
Recently bought a 97 4x4 tacoma with 20k on the odo. Collector owned and flawless. I'm driving it daily now....a hoot! Timmy C Arizona
Awesome! Solid find!
That thing will run forever now. Great work.
Thanks Nathan!
A man after my own heart with this build. Yes!
Thanks for the comment!
*Now that's how you refurb a vehicle and it's the same way I do it, well done fellah, she looks great and bet it goes just as good!*
Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful. Wish we could still get those factory fresh.
That would be amazing!
22R = Legend
very nice truck im so glad it was saved
Thank you for the comment! I'm glad I was able to save this one as well!
I mean....WOW....very impressive. It just takes time and effort.
Thank you! It was definitely a lot of time and effort.
The Australians like these make over jobs!
There's just something about these older pickups that hits the aesthetic nerve. I love my '94 wish I could clean it up like that. Maybe one day.
Thanks for the comment! These trucks sure are aesthetically pleasing. Good luck on your 94', I hope it turns out awesome!
Awesome mate. Well done.
Thank you!
That pressure washer is the real MVP! Such a bad ass little truck. Nice work, bro!
Thank you! The foam cannon sure is the MVP!
Great full restoration!
Thank you!
That was AWESOME
Thank you!
Extreme quality. Outstanding work. Be careful with those spiders. The black one is a Latrodectus. Very dangerous. Greetings from Argentina.
Thank you for the comment and thanks for the heads up regarding the spiders!
My restored '87 definitely catches attention. Especially since it's red. Was always my favorite color, my first '87 that I had 20 years ago was "Toyota Red" so I did this one up just the same. I like that these trucks let people reminisce about days gone by and that's the main reason I restored the one I have now. It did take a long time to find one that hadn't been modified though. I searched for over 3 years actually, and ended up finding one in California which I shipped across country to NJ.
Thanks for the comment, Suzan! They do look amazing in red. I just picked up a rare 85 that is red and road tripped it 800 miles back home. The video is on my page if you would like to check it out. I'll probably end up restoring it, but it has been modified.
I have a 2003 with 42 thousand white base with same cap .❤
Amazing work, but put the original rear bumper back on..!
the best pickup truck ever made.
Agreed!
Incredible work and talent to bring this truck back to life! Great pacing on the video too insanely satisfying.
Thank you so much for the nice comment!
Amazing rebuild! Inspires me to do the same I love those trucks. I choose those better than anything
Thank you for the comment! Enjoy your build and good luck!
Great job 👏
Thank you!
you make it look so easy! I've been tinkering with mine in my driveway for three years
Thank you! It was no easy feat. It took a lot of time. Good luck with yours.
Excellent work
Thank you!
I had an 86. It was my first of 3 Toyota 4x4s. I’m still in my 2004 with 350k on it!
Awesome! They are good little trucks.
I like it because it's perfectly, not perfect. Great job.
Thank you! That's what I was going for. Nice but still usable.
@@ConservationGarage Nailed It!
Of course we can't ever find a 1985. Actually I did but didn't have the money to offer. It had been parked for years, in similar shape to this one:)
The 85's are a little more expensive, but these toyotas definitely aren't as cheap as they used to be. I found a pretty beat-up 85 up in Oregon that i'm going to turn into a Back To The Future replica.
Thank you for a great video, and for all your hard work in getting that truck running once again. I love to see old vehicles being saved from the scrapyard! Here in England, a Hilux of that age would have long since rusted away, due to our wetter climate.... And, finally, thank you for not "over blinging" that truck. It looks just great as it is at the end of your work on it.
Thank you Paul! I'm lucky to live on the west coast of the US, so we don't deal with rust too much. It is the most rust free Toyota I have ever seen! We do have some states that eat away at frames in just a couple of winters, mainly on the east coast. Thanks for the comment!
Wow you should have million more subscribers! You’re good at what you do!
Thank you Jay! Maybe one day
Wow really impressive work. I'm amazed you were able to get that up and running. I remember watching the first video and I thought you really had your work cut out for you. It came out great. Awesome channel. I started watching your channel after you made your work bench and other storage out of file cabinets. I did something similar in my garage after seeing that. Thanks for the idea. lol Looking forward to the next video
Thank you D Raffa! I appreciate the support.
This vid dropped into my feed, and I just love a good low budget resto. Very nice job on the truck and vid. I found it both interesting and relaxing. Good job.
Thank you!
Awesome restoration. You can’t beat those old Toyotas
Thank you Dennis! These old Toyotas are awesome!
Damn?! 🎉❤ fantastic work.
Thank you!
Awesome video and project. Thanks for posting. Love the Yotas
Thank you for the nice comment! These Yotas are awesome!
Well done! Nice Rust FREE truck from Arizona!
Thank you! I think it was the most rust free Toyota I have ever seen.
The clean up of this truck was spot on, great job. Love those old Toyotas. Would kill two have one.
Thank you for the nice comment! It was a lot of work but a fun one.
calm lil skateboard trick haha that was clean my guy great work overall!
Thanks!
Came for the restoration, saw the quick flamingo in the shop!!! quickly liked and subscribed!!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome truck and video!
Glad you like it!
Looked like a fun project. I can't stand toppers lol, but great job!
Thank you! It was a ton of work! I'm indeferent about toppers.
Very impressive that’s one of my dream trucks.
Thanks for the comment!
Nicely done!!
Thank you!
Holy hantavirus batman. Nice job!
Thank you! It was a lot of work, but it was nice to sit back and see the final result.
amazing work!!
Thank you!

SO BADASS 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!!!
Impeccable job, this was pretty amazing to watch!
I appreciate it! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Incredible.
Thank you!
Perfect work truck man!
Thank you!
Beautiful on black
Marty would be proud.
Thank you!
epic work for an epic truck.......
Thank you!
I had a brand new 86 in Baja tan. Literally no options. Best running truck ever. No AC was tough in Miami. Did have a dash fan installed a stereo and speakers Also had a 92 and a 97, a 2003. All Manuel’s.
That's awesome! Solid trucks!
PRETTY IMPRESSIVE!!!!
Thank you!
Beautiful truck and awesome work. Very detailed! Subbed
Thank you Shahs! Welcome to the channel.
After owning a 89 4door and a 91 4-door don't ever want to go back to 2 door, I got It with left hand steering and I am planning on bringing both to the US. I'm also looking at a LC series70 left hand drive too and i'll try to bring that over
Awesome! My dream truck is an 83 crew cab Toyota from Australia.
😮 man te felicito quedo makina muy buen trabajo bueno todas las k as arreglado ya las mire y kedan muy bien
Gracias!
subbing for that sick flamingo
😁 Thanks for the sub!
Amazing how it turned out you are lucky to live in a country that’s dry here in the uk you always start with welding I have been renovating a 1994 Daihatsu Rocky I’ve been welding for 7 days up to yet there’s another 7 to finish the welding then I can start on the mechanical part
That sounds like an awesome project you are working on! I definitely got lucky with this Toyota. It is the most rust free Toyota I have ever seen. We do have some states over here that salt the roads in winter, and it eats frames in just a couple of years. I'm on the west coast of the US, so I typically don't run into that problem! Thanks for the comment! I'd love to check out your 94' if you have videos on it.
@@ConservationGarage I would love to upload some videos but I am not that great with computers and wouldn’t know how to edit or stuff like that my mate has a Toyota the same as yours he has had it from new in the 90s and the chassis rails are starting to rot on it so I am hopeful he his going to sell it to me as they are very rare in the uk now
I totally understand. I struggled a lot learning how to edit and do all of the computer stuff. i have never been too tech savvy. That's awesome! I hope you save that Toyota from the rot! If you ever post any videos on here or somewhere else, let me know.
Just bought a 84 it’s so epic bro I love these trucks needs a lil love like tune up but it’s emak
Awesome! I hope your build goes amazing! Congrats on the find, and good luck!
I had a red ‘86, 22R engine. I added 31/10.5 kidders & chrome rims. Had a toolbox.
Very nice!
Wonderful job , where do you get the material on the floor of the truck? Thanks
Thank you! I got the vinyl flooring off rockauto.
@@ConservationGarage , I really appreciate it
That was sick!
Thank you!
Looks great. Congratulations
Thank you!
Sheesh. That is a project right there, kudos to all who contributed. Worth is in the endeavor of those who do it. Was it worth it? Only you hold that answer.
Thank you Dustin! It was a massive project! I have a follow-up video talking about if it was worth it and the price break down if you are interested. Thanks for the comment
@@ConservationGarage it looks it, and great job, truly. Very impressive.
@@Dustin_the_wind Thank you!
Ke chulada de trokita te rayaste. Ahora solo cuídala porke son unas joyas.
Gracias Raul!
Had a bull bar as well
That flamingo though! Haha sick video cuz!
I had to haha!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
👏
That rear bumper is G-unit, love the sleek design
Thank you!
how did we stray so far from this beauty ?
If a refined process of quality and product were pursued, it would interfere with profit. Efficiency is not the objective, as you basically just questioned. The perfect truck was built long ago, now it is just pageantry.
@@Dustin_the_wind it's kind of like we're ALREADY in that Mad Max era where you need to FIND a rig from the past and make it work in this wasteland
@@crush3095 it does seem so. I won't say that advances in suspension, differentials, valving, all of it, haven't made a better truck; but the line between integration with progress, and something already sufficient has become muddied. It's a mess. We all could be driving perfectly fine, efficient affordable trucks, or cars; but this system that we rely on really is strung tight. I could guarantee that if someone stepped forth, and started building modernized vehicles of a tried and true platform, it would dominate the market. Trucks get you, and your cargo, from point A to B. They don't need to be as complex as they are.
What color paint is that valve cover? .. Truck looks great.. Fantastic job on the interior!
Thank you Chris, I believe it was just aluminum colored.
Клас!
I have one that needs restoration. It’s been sitting in the desert 10 years. Slightly better condition. I drive it there.
That's awesome! Good luck with the restoration!
I would buy a Toyota truck that you have restored. I wouldn't change a thing. That rear bumper -- awesomely formidible!
Thank you for the nice comment.
Awesome job on the Hilux man! Im also busy with mine. Any ideas on where to fine parts for the Hilux maybe. I neef stuff like sun visers and the gearlever boot etc. And also where did you find the mat for the floor? Cheers
Thank you! Finding parts nowadays is pretty difficult. The vinyl mat I got at rockauto. It is a huge pain to install it though. If I were to do it again, I would probably go with a different material. With all the other parts you need, I would just shop around on Ebay, rockauto, the local parts store and maybe even used parts off of offerup and craigslist. Even forums. Good luck with your build! Cheers
Wow a real life rat Rod 🐀😉 nice transformation I loved my 85 Toyota truck first new car I ever owned. Was that lake pleasant in the last shot ? Looks familiar.
Total rat transformation! It was lake pleasant. Thanks for the comment!
I have an 86 4runner with a 140k miles, and a 86 xtra-cab pickup with 160k miles both are 4×4 and both are cherry
Awesome! Great finds!
That's a very satisfying video to watch! I have a 2001 Tacoma that I'll have forever! Do you flip these?
Thank you! The 2001's are awesome little trucks as well. Some I keep, some I find them a new home. The goal is to get them back on the road and out of a field somewhere.
I am doing the same thing to a 92 ExCab, what is the blue stuff in the spray bottle you wash everything with, and where did you get that rubberized flooring, that is sick looking. You did an amazing job on that truck to btw
Awesome! Sounds like a fun project. I use dawn dish soap in the foam cannon. And that rubber flooring is from Rock Auto. I think it was 150ish. It is a pain to install. If you go that route, definitely use heat to loosen it up a bit. Thank you, I appreciate it. Good luck with your project.
Very nice video on your restoration! What product did you use to remove rust from your wheels. Thanks!
Thank you, I used a wire brush and elbow grease. Thanks for the comment.
Very nice! Tons of poop. Most I have ever seen in a car or truck. Great job! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! It was a ton of rat poop. This 35 Chevy that i'm working on now is just as bad.
Awesome! Liking your channel. Gave you a sub.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the upcoming videos as well.
Where did you get the rubber flooring from? You did a great job on this truck I have an 85.
Thank you! I got it from RockAuto. It's a pain to work with though. I have an 85 as well. Someday it will be a Back to the Future replica. Stay tuned.
@@ConservationGarage thank you! My truck is the same color as back to the future truck. I’ve owned one most of my life & you can’t beat them. Great truck & you did really good work on yours!!
@@jamesswetland5019 Thank you! Good luck with your flooring install!
Even though my clothes are torn and tattered!!!
After seeing on 5th geargarage (cahnnel) the rust you guys have to deal with in the states...... That looks like a very clean example. Rust wise, body is complete and no holes or obvious rust. So the diffs, hubs and transfer case were all good?
Thanks for the comment! This is actually the most rust free Toyota I have seen in person. It just sat in the desert for a couple of decades so it didn't get too much moisture or salt. The only surface rust it had was from all of the rat excrement.
@ConservationGarage I can imagine how corrosive that is. Great find. I'm watching the in-depth videos now.
@@madcat4563 Awesome! Enjoy!
I could smell this.
Haha! It was pretty bad!
Beautiful work, but those faded sealed beam headlight killed my ocd at the end.
Haha! I feel ya. There were still a lot of imperfections on it. I never noticed until you commented. I had to go back and see the video, and now it's bugging me too! haha.
Кайф 😎 Красавчик 👍🏼
Very nice, but if you went to all that trouble, you should bought or fabricated a new bench seat. Other than that, well done!
I agree 100%. My goal for this one was to reuse as much as I could. I had some bucket seats I was going to toss in it, but I wanted to keep to the theme of labor time over new parts. The better solution would have been to buy new fabric and foam for the bench seat and reupholster it. The metal frame was solid. The bench seat was definitely the weak point of the whole build.
The Slime! Too much for me!
It was too much for me as well. But once I got started, I had to finish.
yeppers i had an 86. mine was red though. the carb gave out at 250K miles. nice little truck for just about $5,000. (mice little truck in your case). i don't understand why the manufacturers got away from just a basic truck that was built to last. sadly a drunk driver hit me head on on the interstate and it was totaled. i too lived in Arizona so rust was at a minimum.
Thank you for the comment! I hope you are okay after that head-on collision. I also wish they were very simple still.
yeah i lived through it. albeit broken bones and a severe head injury, i believe the other guy was driving a 68 suburban. they got him 8 miles down the road headed into opposing traffic on I-8. thank you for your empathy. And happy holidays if you celebrate such things@@ConservationGarage
@1heavyelement Ouch! I'm glad you made it through! happy holidays!
Do you know what antenna that is? Been searching for a replacement after mine broke but want a shorter antenna
I'm honestly not sure. It came with the truck. Maybe you could find something on ebay?
@@ConservationGarage thanks man I figured haha love your truck!
hell ya
Дуже круто.Але сидіння я б перешив на нові
Thanks!
Can you guys help me fix my 88 Toyota pickup bend tension bar but I’m senior and do not have money to spend but I want to keep my truck. I live in Cape Coral Fl. Please respond and thank you.
Hey Ricardo, Are you sure your torsion bar is the only thing that is bent? What happened to it?
Just signed in . What is the cleaning agent your using. Happy Trails
Hey Mike, I used a bunch of different stuff. Bleach, Dawn, Apple cider vinegar, etc. Thanks for watching!
It works that's for sure, what a mess that was well we will be with you from now on looks very interesting.@@ConservationGarage
@@mikeboone4425 It was a huge mess and a pain. At the end of the build, it was all worth it. Thank you!
not a speck of rust on that truck - wow life is hard ???
It was awesome not having to deal with rust.
Toyota hanta lux
Haha!
What is the interior floor material?
I got a vinyl floor from Rockauto
