  • The woman of Shield broke down comic barriers by fighting crime fully clothed. In combat boots.

    • Including Adrianne, they are all stunningly beautiful, but on the show, that's the facet that is stressed the least, which is more than refreshing. Their intelligence, determination, strength, resilience, toughness & heart are far more important than how they look. They don't bat their eyes at a bad guy, they punch them in the mouth!

    • I feel like men do not understand it is not ok for woman superhero’s to only wear skirts or dress because not all woman like that. As a kid I HATE dresses and skirts and to dress up like supergirl I would have to wear a skirt so I would go as caption America or something so I feel all superhero’s should always be wearing appropriate cloths for their missions. It is not ok to have someone flying threw space in a swim suit while there male friends has a fully suited battle armor. Ok thanks for you time.

    • @@reaganmclaughlin5705 it's also not practical. Tight clothes are hard to move in and when made of leather or pleather it'd make very unattractive squeaking sounds and give away their positions. Female body armor is utterly useless.

  • What I love about SHIELD is that no one on the show is presented as being a bad-ass because of/in spite of whatever their genetic makeup may be. They're bad-ass because of the choices they've made to get to that point. It doesn't matter if they're men or women or human or inhuman or whatever else, and it's just presented as it being a non-issue to everyone.

    • Slingblade87 i think they could catch a break since they technically only started 10 years ago with iron man. Before that fox has licensed a couple movies but they werent made or written by marvel. DC and warner brothers have been making superman and batman movies since the 70s, 40s for batman. true they had a wonder woman(1975) tv show as well but agents of shield which has always been primarily comprised of female heroes made it onto tv 5 years after marvels first true full legnth feature(Dawn of the MCU). The wonder woman movie we have came out roughly 70 years after batmans first movie. So maybe they finally came around to it. The MCU has only been around 10 years. They were filing for bankruptcy every other year before that so they had to sell all their good properties: spiderman (sony), the hulk (Universal), Fantastic Four (Fox) and Xmen (Fox). They were left with hard to understand characters and women didnt take a liking to black widow either. The biggest reason for marvel taking so long was Ike Pearlmutter hes a piece of shit, he did a ton of the indirect sexist and racist things. He was the almost the reason Kevin Feige quit but they had him reassigned to tv. Hence why it took so long plus im glad the waited to get it right just like patty jenkins took her time with wonder woman

    @felipemkto@felipemkto6 жыл бұрын
    • The only chance of that happening is in a cameo or a temporary multi-episode arc. Adrianne Palicki, the actress that played Mockingbird is now one of the lead stars in the new hit sci-fi show, The Orville. There is no way she'd permanently return for a minor role in Agents when she has a premiere role on The Orville.

  • To answer Pattons question about how the women of SHIELD have broken down barriers: This show does a tremendous job of showcasing strong and intelligent women without heavy handed shoving it down peoples throats like how Arrow does it with Felicity Smoak. They created a Mary Sue that can do no wrong and knows the answer for anything for some reason. They even go so far on that show by literally calling her a strong and powerful woman. While on SHIELD they aren't saying it THEY SHOW IT through actions. We see Daisy be smart or strong without having to assault an innocent man that's just doing his job. Like Kara did on Supergirl. She assaulted a guard of a party because he grabbed her by her arm. She wanted to walk into a private party on private property without an invite. The guard was just doing his job and she nearly broke his arm while talking down to him. Yeah, girlpower? No that's badly written shit. I'd rather see Ming Na Wen kick ass, Simmons naturally be developed into a strong person that's gone through hardships and able to solve equations intelligently while Yo-Yo helps a kid or takes a room out filled with badguys and not guards that are innocently doing their jobs. What I'm saying is that AoS does a great job of showcasing people in a nutty world of superpowers. All the women and men on the show feel like people. On the CW shows I feel like I'm watching insane people.

      @brentage5000@brentage50006 жыл бұрын
    • One of the reasons why 4x15 'self control' was so great was because when Daisy basically tells Simmons that she'll take on all the lmds if she has to so that they can make it out of the playground, you believe her!! She's had the proper character development where her confidence and fight skills for taking on multiple lmds is completely plausible. Then we get the awesome fight scene with her and Mace, along with just being one of the best episodes of the series!!

    • A few episodes ago. She was with Lena if I remember correctly and she wanted to enter a paty of that evil billionaire guy. Forgot his characters name because he's a badly stereotypical written baddie, but she's played by Adrian Pasdar who was Talbot on AoS. She tried to enter the party. A guard stopped her because it was a private thing and she didn't had an invite. He said sweetheart, you can't go in, grabbed her arm to stop her from entering and she thought that was enough reason to nearly break his ass off while she talked down to him. I guess their genius writers were trying to make it a female empowerment scene with Kara standing up to a guy that called her sweetheart...... but she was entering a place she had no permission to enter in. The guard was in his right to stop her.

  • I would like to say, just in case any of the mods for this KZhead page ever see this, Agents of SHIELD was one of the biggest motivations for why I started writing and as a series was something that coupled with a lot of life experiences is what led to me writing a predominately female caste of protagonists for 3 going on 4 novels

I have to say that the future comments were a little heartbreaking given the season finale but this really was an amazing season.

  • Best show on TV. Hands down. I would like to see a similar roundtable featuring the writers. I know that after Jed and Maurissa there are more than a dozen writers who have been credited as lead script author on one or more episodes. Presumably they all work collaboratively on the plot arcs that span entire half seasons, and contribute to each others scripts in various ways. (reflected in the fact that they also get producer credits for shows that they didn't write) I would love to know more about that process and how it is managed. These people deserve more credit than they are getting, IMO: Jeffrey Bell Brent Fletcher Paul Zbyszewski Drew Z. Greenberg Daniel J. Doyle Monica Breen Lauren LeFranc Rafe Judkins Sharla Oliver James C. Oliver Lilla and Nora Zuckerman ...

  • I think one of the main things about the diversity isn't just the mantra of "strong women" but women who are all so different in personality, skills, strengths, even weaknesses. And that makes them real, and that makes them relatable. It's kicking ass, not just in the literal sense, but in all aspects of that figure of speech, if you know what I mean

  • I loved this show in every single way, just the story, the arch from the characters, their philosophy, their bond, the action, the fantasy, and talking about topics like diversity, it is really great, it doesn't feel like pushed on or forced like current shows, it is so good showing diversity and making everyone equal as it should, and not making political things like race fights, no it is just showing that no matter who you are, how you look, what you can do, etc, you have so much to give to others and how much you can grow and achieve no matter anything. Just a big applause and recognition, to all the actors who did amazing, directors, writters and every single member of the crew, I just own my heart so much, love from Mexico

  • The writers of AoS did an amazing job with representing a diverse cast, and creating strong, diverse female characters. After following AoS for years, I can't watch Arrowverse shows and not be bothered by how superficial their inclusion is; their cast is diverse, but their stories are often not.

    @rei_cirith@rei_cirith3 жыл бұрын
  • The only thing they need to do now to be even more inclusive is to give Daisy a girlfriend 🤞🏼 (Preferably another inhuman/alien who can teach her how to love who she is and accept her powers and then maybe they decide to foster human/inhuman kids and ultimately end up adopting them because she doesn’t want them to grow up feeling unwanted and alone like she did. Please let this happen. Thanks 👍🏼)
