“Who fights John the beast Mugabi when you didn’t have to?” Says it all
That fight took so much out of both fighters , especially Mugabi. It remains perhaps THE most brutal/tough fights that I have ever seen. I'm now wondering if hard gruelling fights like this ended up shortening Marvin's life ?

He was the epitome of "DISCIPLINE"...always in shape, never got out of shape.
You could see Teddy Atlas struggling to try and find the adequate words to praise Marvelous Marvin Hagler and it's difficult because Hagler was so much greater than you could explain to anyone. He was the epitome of the word Champion.

@@mro9608 Teddy's words were heartfelt and very much a tribute, I was saying that when he said "he was being dramatic" he was searching to say more but no matter how much you speak about Hagler's greatness in the end words alone fall short of just how great this man was as a boxer and a man.
He was attacking Sugar Ray Leonard incognito trust me. Ray did win the gold in the 76 Olympics then $40,000 in hiz first pro fight while Marvelous under $100 in hiz first fight neither did Hagler make the 76 Olympics either. So yes teddy was attacking Leonard.

@@brandnew9834 Hagler and Monzon are the Top Two middleweight kings for me. The Great Sugar man was at his peak at welterweight, and very inconsistent at middleweight. And Hopkins was in a relatively weak 160lb division in my opinion.

@@JoeCool-fb7uf Very true! The announcers obviously favored cocaine Leonard (his own admission), which also swayed viewers. You know how media propaganda works. They would get excited when Leonard thew a bolo punch. But they would never mention how Hagler blocked it perfectly (even when it was below the belt). Leonard would throw a flurry of punches and Hagler would block them all. Watch that fight with the volume off and you'll know what I mean.

He didn’t just fight John “The Beast” Mugabi , he put him on his back.
Mugabi was a fearsome proposition but Marvin proved yet again who the king was. This is one of the most punishing fights that I can remember watching. Mugabi was never the same after this encounter and I am also wondering now if gruelling fights like this ended up shortening Marvin's life ?
@@TheHumbuckerboy it will always be speculation but i don’t think so . Marvin was always in top condition and never appeared punch drunk or slow. He didn’t hang on to long , and really In most of his fights he was the one doing extreme damage . By all accounts whatever took the champ home was sudden and unexpected from what we know .
@@zman8340 Yeah, Marvin always had articulate speech whereas some other fighters from his era and even more recent fighters have slurred speech. Even Marvin's old opponents such as Tommy Hearns and Roberto Duran haven't aged well in comparison whereas Marvin seemed much healthier . Hopefully we shall know the cause of his passing.

In an era where undefeated Errol Spence doesn't fight Terrence Crawford for whatever reason, Marvin Hagler and his era of no-duckery, straight up baddest man on tha block, is sorely missed.
Marvin was one of my favorite boxers ... this is definitely tragic ! Today's boxers can't hold a candle to Hagler .. Teddy did a Great job paying tribute to "Marvelous Marvin Hagler" !

I grew up about an hour north of Tommy Hearns so I was crushed when he lost to Hagler but Hagler was the best middleweight I've ever seen

@@umarabdul-ali6868 I'm sorry but Robinson was undersized and would eventually get walked down and chopped down by Hagler. He was great, and one of the greatest but Marvelous was built for war. He had a head and neck like an anvil and could switch stances with ease.

I remember watching Hagler v Hearns! What a fight. Hagler was the best of his time. Never got knocked down and the three loses were all controversial. My favourite fighter in all weight classes.
He got knocked down by Roldan. Nevertheless, he was one of the greatest middleweight champions ever.

Hagler, Could switch from southpaw to orthodox effortlessly. Box at range, fight inside - stand and slug, box and move. Had great stamina and an iron chin. Excellent hand speed. And took on all comers. The perfect champion.
Any way you wanted to fight Marvin, he'd beat you. He'd fight his opponent's style just to let them know who was the best.

I'm just glad I was old enough to watch marvelous fights. Me and my friends would get a case of 40 of old English and trip on how brutal he was. I didn't know him but his death hit me like someone in my family died. Rest in peace champ

Woke up this morning, Sunday, looked in my phone and read the late, I just kept on reading, stopped, went back with my heart racing, and there it was, he died last night, Respect Honor Recognize the best middleweight champion and fighter I ever saw. Rest in peace.

I knew Marvelous Marvin Hagler well after all when he came to Brockton in 1968 we became friends. He was a hardworker and we even talk about boxing and other sport. He was determined to be a champion because he had the work ethic and the dreams to be a champion and he deserved every bit it to be one. Know doubt he will be remembered. By the boxing world and his roots from Brockton Massachusetts. God bless your soul and may you rest in peace. A true friend Melvin Lightford

He got the COVID shot last week shot folks. Put the pieces together and think rationally people.
I heard that was the first shot and the second one(kill shot) less than 24 hours ago.
I was born in Newark,NJ. He meant so much to us. For those of us that wasn't born with a silver spoon In our mouves. He made us believe that we could make our dreams a reality if we put our minds to it.

The entire fight between Hagler vs Hearns is short. So people can watch the entire thing on KZhead. Only lasted 3 rounds. But that 1st round was the best. They just wailed at each other right away. No time wasted.
