I just signed up for Distrokid yesterday after dithering for a year. I have spent the last two years writing and recording and have two full albums with artwork and titles. But i have lived as a reclusive studio zombie for years and litterally know no people nor do i have any social media presence.I don't even own a phone, I'm watching your tutorials , thanks. I'm really not sure what to do next. but my general plan is to releace a single per month till Christmas, then an album. But as i am compleatly unknown i don't even know which Genre i would fit in. Thanks again for the posts, I'll be letting you know how it goes. Hopefully you will give me a bit more advice when I get my toe in the water. All the best.
If ur actually good and Intriguing you’ll have a better chance especially on tiktok even you want to be more talent than personality but if it depends on the artist and how they wanna build their image xD

Very awesome video! I have a question that distrokid support doesn't seem to respond to clearly as it is their robot system iam dealing with. Upon registering my song ( a single) to distrikid for distribution do it get a ISRC code for that song generated by distrokid?
Once ISRCs have been assigned, you can see them to the right of track titles on the album pages of your DistroKid dashboard.

When we select the $20 plan where you got 1 artist, can you have two credit cards registered to the one account or not? It has the number of Tracks to select for your release so yes they will all use the same art work.

It's tough to say - there's a lot of factors (are you using royalty free samples, etc). Overall yes, but there are a lot of rules now

No, A Release officially comes from Distribution services only. Bandcamp and KZhead are releases however they are not in the distribution systems outside of thise platforms.
Btw if I buy the 19.99 distrokid option and I wanna upgrade to the 35.99 one , will it make me pay only 16 more dollars or will it make me pay the full 35.99?
They refund you your money back and then charge your card for the 35.99

That Distrokid is shown as the label isn't tacky. It's modern and in time. Record Labels have been fucking over musician since god knows when. This is musicians taking control IMO! :D
I am planning on making hiphop music - this means I wont get the "KZhead Money" option - will I still be able to upload 'Official Music Videos/ Lyric Video" on my artist channel? Will I still be able to collect money from monetization if I do so? -- or in general what happens if you upload your singles to KZhead without clicking the $4,99 KZhead money option Also, I want to make my own 'Official Audio' videos - will they still go to KZhead Music (if I don't click the KZhead Music option when I release on Distrokid) or is this only possible if do click the KZhead Music option -- I only ask because I know Distrokid makes 'Official Audio" videos that are not very aesthetic I know its a lot, but a reply would be appreciated

You or anyone eles can upload your music thats released unless you use the audio tracking feature. The audio tracking detects your music and will notify you if it detects that someone has uploaded it or used it anywhere including KZhead. You will be sent a notification and then you decide if You want to allow it or if You want it blocked.

Just made an account and uploaded my first single to Spotify, Apple Music,iTunes, and youtube but just selected that it was my first single and did not select an account for each service. Will this make a new account or where will this song go? Very confused.
It will make a new account under every platform for you as an artist

Nope - they do all that for you
The accounts are auto generated, some services like KZhead let you make your own additional accounts some dont. For Spotify you have to request your account from them onces your Distrokid is set up.
Hi guys what if theres 1 account with two artist and one of them wants to have his own account, can the other person just open another account and start uploading with the same artist name that is in the other account?
Only one user account should have the music on there and the other must be listed as a collaborator, you cant upload and publish the same music from different accounts.
For the KZhead will it upload to my KZhead account? Or nah lmk when you can be safe I’m gonna invest pretty soon just wanna make sure I don’t screw myself

If only they could remove the annual payment for content id while they charges extra 20% from loyalty. They should keep that 20% loyalty cut and remove that annual charges for all your releases with content id. That's the only reason why im thinking about moving to ditto......

I make cover songs on my YT channel, it is worth it for covers because I've heard it's a hassle
It's tricky - you have to pay some money upfront. I would look at the fine print for everything and then make a decision from there, overall I think covers are great for KZhead and originals are better to release for DistroKid

It depends if it's Public Domain or not - I'd suggest doing a "cover" of public domain Christmas Songs - that way, it more counts as an original
