I actually prefer controllers that take AA batteries. I use rechargeable Li-Ion and Eneloop batteries for everything from the TV remote to my Xbox controllers. The Li-Ions last for such a long time, the Eneloops are more affordable than replacement internal batteries, and both charge overnight. I really wish more controllers allowed me to use them.
It also makes it waaay easier to replace a defective rechargeable batterypack. Whereas other controllers require to screw the thing open.
@@mariusv.8965 Time is money. I was including the simplicity when I mentioned it's affordability.
Same. Much better than having a sealed away battery.
@@greendblink182MS shoulved did that idea on this gen removable battery that is not a freaking double A lol
@@dxtremecaliberbut I think of it more as you have as remotes for your remote, your clock and other stuff, so u could just use aa.
I still use my Xbox 360 controller I bought like 12 years ago for my PC. Doubt it would be anywhere near as usable, if it has a 12 year old rechargeable battery in it.
This is the perfect video for anyone who is feeling overwhelmed by the all the different Xbox accessories that are out there. You've done a great job of breaking things down and making them easy to understand. I would definitely recommend this video to anyone who is looking for some guidance on how to spend their money.

0:25 - I don't understand why people want built in batteries. 1. when the battery dies your controller is worthless. 2. If the battery dies when your playing a game you can't just swap out the battery quickly. Now you have to plug it in and sit on the floor next to your tv cause those short cables aren't reaching your couch. screw built in batteries.
Buy a long cord and you can have wired controller for about an hour and then it’s wireless again for like two days
For anyone curious, hard drives are measured in terabytes by manufacturers, but in tebibytes by computers. A terabyte is 1000 gigabytes while a tebibyte is 1024 gibibytes. 12 terabytes is ~10.9 tebibytes :)
It’s been like that for a while, for a tech channel you would think they know that
That's how windows does it linux actually says TiB instead of TB
It's a count of 1024 for every designation. 1KB is 1024B, MB 1024KB, GB 1024Mb, TB 1024GB and so on.
@@FangKaiWen no those are kibibyte mebibyte and gibibyte

4:15 12 000 000 000 000 B (12TB if we consider 1KB being 1000B, 1MB being 1000KB and so on, which is the standard notation for storage devices such as hard drives, memory cards and USB flash drives). The computer (or XBOX in this case), however, uses base 1024 which means that 1KB is 1024B, 1MB is 1024KB and so on, therefore 12 000 000 000 000B is approximately equal to 10.9*1024^4B which is the reason for 10.9TB showing up on the screen

soooo it's kind of a false advertising situation... I mean they DO say how much it actually stores, but they then show it in a way most people understand.
@@djvic4u Usually if you look close at the box (not many people do, granted) there will be a caveat somewhere where it says "12TB unformatted" or something similar just so that they can get away with it legally.
Hey, you should probably mention that there is a difference between the 1tb and the 12tb drives. You can play older gen xbox games only on the 12tb drive and xbox series s/x game on the 1tb expansion drive. One is an HDD and the other an SSD. not everyone knows the difference.
YES, I was looking for this. The HDD has major drawbacks, namely that you can't load Series X optimized games. Some might let you but they won't be near as fast and you can't do quick resume. Now many newer games are developed with the assumption that an SSD will be used.

An Austin video makes it a perfect sunday!
Its been a second since I've watched your channel again and got to say, I know something has changed be it format, presentation, quality has always been there, but something that just feels more grounded and the jokes are landing really good lol Love this newer version and hopefully we get to see more of this mellow-fun Austin. Cheers Oh and as for the cloud gaming, I highly recommend the GeForce Experience, its literally night and day difference. I bought the annual pass since I knew that the free hour pass was gonna get old real quick and glad I did. I honestly can say its like a 1-to-1 experience in terms of you feeling like you have the actual console in your living room. Its the first time out of the few cloud gaming services that I've tried that has convinced me that its definitely worth it and do indeed have the tech in order to make it happen. Definitely a 4.5 out of 5, the only downside if you can see any is the array of games it has is vast but still missing the lesser known games that usually aren't the big talker in gaming channels.
The fact that the memory on disks in the operating system is always less than stated on the packaging has something to do with the calculation. The manufacturers calculate in GigaBytes 1GigaByte = 1000 Megabytes etc. But the PC calculates with GiBiBytes 1 GiBiBytes = 1024 MiBiBytes PCs calculate binary not decimal as an example 12TB = 12000GB x 0.9765625 = 11,718.75 GiBiByte : 1024 = 11.44TiBiByte
Would be great to see you do a proper serious deep dive into the Xbox Adaptive Controller and perhaps adaptive gaming in general 👍
well the pro of the rechargeable battery packs is that you can really easily replace them. Something you can't do on Playstation controllers.
How is that a pro 😂 PlayStation all you do is plug it to the charger 😂
What happens when the batterys stop losing charge in the dual sense controller @@Quofly
@Quofly You realize chargers break down over time? Being able to swap out the battery unit every couple years is easily a pro
The Playstation controller is only $60-$70.......you just buy a new one. For half the price of the xbox controller that you need to purchase separately from the console. And the AA battery was invented over 100 years ago. Sony gave us wireless, Bluetooth, rechargeable Co trolleys with the console and ever since 2006......plus due to recent events, you can play xbox games on Playstation and/or Nintendo. And again about the battery you say is replaceable.....it's probably the same price as a new PS5 controller anyways. And then you just end up stuck with the same used, grimy, greasy, worn down controller. It's like building a new house in a dilapidated neighborhood......it's a good way to lose money. And I'm not arguing with you or trying to put you down, so please don't take it that way. I'm simply stating the facts. Being logical and rational. And it's up to you whether you want to face and accept the facts, or get upset and pretend I'm not right. Which would be, by definition, delusional.
I miss the old 360 aa battery pack. Designed to quick swap. Preload batteries and swap on the fly. The rechargeable packs for 360 were notoriously unreliable though.
I have an amazing tip for xbox owners! And it works great for current and last Gen consoles. It's quick, easy, and free to do, and it will allow your xbox to reach its full potential. There are no overheating issues or anything like that so don't worry. First thing you want to do is absolutely smash the console. Now that the plastic shell is removed in several pieces. Recycle the plastic, so that it can become a toilet seat in a taco bell on the side of the highway. And that's it. You're console has never been better, or more useful. You are doing yourself, and society a favor. Now go buy a Playstation or a Nintendo and become a real gamer. Because that's where all the great games are. Plus due to recent events, you can easily play what used to be xbox exclusives. All 3 of them.....
I use the Razer Turret for my home theater on PC, and it’s fantastic!! Love that you used it here and gave your honest review lmfaoo also it has a magnetic spot for the mouse to sit in the top right it’s strong asf on mine, holds the mouse in place for storage or moving around.
I had a series s with an elite 2 controller and the Xbox wireless headset. The headset sounded great and I was able to talk on the phone, listen to music and hear the game altogether. The controller, with practice, definitely helped a lot in COD. I switched to Ps5 thinking it would be better somehow but I deeply regret ever switching.

The advantage of having a removable rechargeable battery is the ease of hot swapping unlike the PlayStation where if the controller is dead you’re fd in the water

I’ve had the 12tb hdd for years now And love it I had it for my original Xbox one also I love headset to have that and you can listen to your phone and Xbox at the same time both connected at same time you can play your music on your phone or be on a call it also turns on your Xbox one turning on the headset
I have been waiting for this video for a while now.
I would love to see a vid on the ultimate Xbox series s traveling system set up. I use one while traveling to other states for work and store it all in a pelican case with a traveling monitor (ROG xg16ahpe), but would love to see how you set one up.
As a side note, the toaster is pretty good value. It's only £29.99 in the UK. I can't think of any other toaster in that price range with a timer?
@AustinEvans I went on whatnot to see your livestream. I ended up finding bullion streams after yours ended and now im addicted to buying metals. How often do you guys stream on whatnot?
0:39 so while you have to disassemble your PS4/PS5 controller to swap the rechargeable battery out, I’ll be sliding that cover off and installing a new battery by the time you get your screwdriver out.

Just a heads up you can use most mouse and keyboards on the series x and s as long as it’s designed for windows you should be good
Gutted you could test out the adaptive controller but you also missed its big use case which is being an accessible controller for people with limited mobility! It’s a great piece of kit
I've always felt like the adaptive controller is a bit over priced for what it is. $100 for the deck(i guess is what you could call it) and then who knows how much per "button". You cant find them anywhere anymore. Lowest i found was another $100 on sites that are sold out. So now someone who doesnt have the motor skills is already hindered and has to pay at least double the price if they can even get all the button accessories.
Leave the amish outta this lol. Love the vids!!
Having removable batteries is a benefit, a huge benefit. A console generation is like pushing 10 years and people still use them way way beyond that. My PS3 controllers from 2006 or w.e still work but last barely any time at all. My XB360 controllers not only still work perfectly and last as long as they always have, they actually last longer due to new battery tech, also they can be turned into wired super easily as well. AND they still feel more premium and less hollow than ps3 controllers. lol
3:29 "2 terabytes, what are we? Amish?" -me laughing hysterically with a 500gb xbox one s
I actually bought two third party rechargeable lithium-ion batteries for my Series X controllers. The batteries last a long time before they need a recharge, and it's convenient that they recharge directly from the console than from a separate power unit.
Great video 🙂
I've had that headset for about a year now and the plastic on the mic housing break over time. It's a factory defect that Microsoft hasn't really addressed. Many other people have this issue as well.
microsoft making the rechargable battery a pack makes it easy to replace, thing about how many playstation controllers that has a dead battery and you have to open up the whole controller

Austin which case do you use on your Z Flip5? I'm wondering, because Samsung is not selling them in Brazil, so I need to import from China (and pay some fees). I'm actually using the Flipsuit case, but the silicone one is in my sights
Can snyone answer if the 12TB hard drive Austin grabbed, works for Series X games? I'm curious because I thought just the NVMEs that go into the card slot in the back of the console worked for Series X games.
Rechargeable AA batteries have worked for me for years. Fast chang out, no problem.
They sell those 10ft USB C-C cables at my grocery store. I buy one randomly sometimes, just in case. I have probably 10 of them in use in various places around the house. They're even good enough to tether VR headsets. Honestly the most useful things I've ever gotten at that store besides, ya know... food.
This a question for anyone who has a xbox one and series x i just got the x today and i wanted to know if i can download games off what i had on the xbox one can i delete if off that and it will keep it on my x? If the ps4 controller battery goes bad, because they gets charged alot, you cant just swap it out not easily anyways, witth xxbox its easy and you have the option. Is it archaic? To some, but it makes sense when you see it that way.

The storage manufacturers using international system of units which mean 12 tb = 12000000000000 byte. but the OS works in binary (1 kb = 1024 byte...etc). So the OS reads 12 tb as 10.9 tb (12000000000000÷1024^4)

I've been using for a little over a year an Xbox controller for all my PC (+ Xbox) gaming needs.... And it's one of the greatest controllers I've used. My joints are fragile, and keyboard isn't really a good option for me. Ah. I also got for like 10€ a third party battery for my controller, and I had 0 problems with it. So there are options out there that will be less expensive than the official ones. And of course, rechargable AA batteries still exist (it's what I was using before). I have an Xbox Series S, too. And I use it exclusively with game pass, which makes it great when I don't want to sit in front of a computer to game (or use the Nintendo Switch lol).
The PS3 did have a rechargeable battery, but how many of those still have the oem battery in them nowadays.
When my PC died. I only had a XBOX to use. Thankfully the XBOX One had mouse and keyboard support. So playing Minecraft with the bois was actually doable for the week or 2 I waited for RMA. And the few other games that supported.
I stand by their decision to not have the rechargeable batteries in the controller. I did controller repair on over 50 PS4 controllers and a big issue with most of them was the rechargeable battery went bad and people just sold the controllers real cheap because they didn't want to fix it and many throw the whole controller away just because the battery went bad. With the Xbox controller it is super easy to replace the batteries and there is no ribbon cable you could just accidentally break trying to replace the battery like there was on the Playstation 4 controller
I did something similar after a decade break from gaming only to come back and not one game is finished, everything worth having is behind a pay wall and it's no longer worth the time money or enjoyable anymore 😂 If you can avoid the FOMO you can get games for their real price when they go on sale at 85% too
