What is the real reason or answer as to Why are Walmart stores closing in big cities across the US? Theft, Slow sales not adapting to the change of time? One of the reason is Walmart not jumping on the E commerce trend when it starting booming and once they did now they're playing catch up. Lack of employees, self checkout has everyone in a frenzy when they need assistance. What in the world of data will try to dig a little deeper into the secret Walmart has and is about to open up on in 2026.
Walmart initially focused on its brick-and-mortar stores and faced challenges in catching up with the rapidly growing e-commerce market. As of Feb 14 2023 Walmart is opting to stop operating stores focused solely on fulfilling online orders for now even as other businesses are investing in the concept. BUT WHY? also a couple months down the road on APR. 4 2023 Walmart mentioned their future plans by 2026 Walmart believes that roughly 65% of their stores will be serviced by automation, approximately 55% of the fulfillment center volume will move through automated facilities, and unit cost averages could improve by approximately 20%. this will eliminate a substantial amount of workers if and when they go this route. the flip side is due to the new automation route Walmart is taking it will also increase its number of associates as new roles are created.
Walmart has invested billions of dollars in technology for its online order facilities, including buying grocery robotics company Alert Innovation and partnering with companies such as Knapp to help cut the number of steps it takes for employees to process e-commerce orders down to five from 12. Keep an eye out Walmart is about to bounce back stronger than ever!
