Derrick White tipped-in a missed shot attempt as time expired in regulation to lift the Boston Celtics over the Miami Heat in Game 6, 104-103. Jayson Tatum (31 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists) and Jaylen Brown (26 points, 10 rebounds) combined for 57 points for the Celtics, while Jimmy Butler tallied 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists for the Heat. This best-of-seven series is now tied, 3-3, with Game 7 taking place on Monday, May 29 (8:30 p.m. ET, TNT).
Tonight marked Jayson Tatum's 7th game this postseason with 30+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ assists, tying LeBron James (2017-2018) for the most such games in a Single postseason.
The Celtics are now the 4th team in NBA history to force a Game 7 after trailing 0-3 in a series, joining:
1951 New York Knicks vs. Rochester Royals (Finals)
1994 Denver Nuggets vs. Utah Jazz (2nd Round)
2003 Portland Trail Blazers vs. Dallas Mavericks (1st Round)

Indiana Pacers & New York Knicks (1994-1995)
The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics are the first teams to face off in Game 7 of a Conference Finals series in back-to-back seasons since:
Boston Celtics & Philadelphia 76ers (1981 & 1982)

Denver Nuggets (2020): 6
Denver Nuggets (1994): 6
Miami Heat (1997): 5
Houston Rockets (1995): 5
Phoenix Suns (1993): 5
Boston Celtics (2023): 5

    • hello from the Larry Bird/ Michael Jordan era! Before 3-pointers became so big, there's a lot of battle work done in that paint! That's what this reminds me of- not just 3-pointer after 3-pointer, but battling for the boards like Dennis freakin Rodman! People keep saying this is a "great shot" No, as a matter of fact, Tatum missed his free and clear shot, missed his own follow-up Not a "shot"-this is a tip-in rebound, in the middle of traffic... You saw Tatum go down! While White put it in. And apparently Tatum was blaming others because of losses, so this time- White pushed Tatum the hell out of the way and took care of it himself. Finally, push the ego aside and let's play basketball! That's what's turned most of us off-drama queens with too many tattoos But I believe after game three, Joe mazzulla has Ime udoka in his ear bud 24/7 now... Cuz that's how they're playing-with the vision of last playoffs, under udoka He's got the Pat Riley intensity, and excellent vision that may have gotten the Celtics further than they deserved last season, because of injuries also. But how he balanced those injuries, and used Williams while he was injured during the playoffs was outstanding He he got more out of that team than they knew they had Larry Bird lying on the floor in front of the bench with a bad back, Michael Jordan playing with the flu... He was delusional by the end of the game!! I'd say-your generation is very lucky. You don't need to compare and top each other-you can go on KZhead and look back 60 years... Appreciate & enjoy all of them I'd say I'm luckier because I had Larry Bird, Michael Jordan all those, I'm lucky my sister was into dating famous people, she dated a Celtic and we had seats behind the bench! (She ended up marrying a cameraman) -I stood 20 feet from Shaquille O'Neal warming up before game! I don't need to compare myself to any other generation-I'm thrilled as a pig in shytt within my lifetime and era of athletes

White's was a tap in from 1 foot away. which would have never happened if heat crashed the glass.
