Boot Camp Clique, Diggin In The Crates Crew, Das Efx, Grand Puba, Redman, Keith Murray, etc... they all used to rock backpacks, which kinda gave name to the label "backpack rap." Then later on "backpack rap" merged with "nerd rap" and became a caricature in the early '00s with the advent of textcees on rap message boards, some of who were able to get indie deals

Enter da stage really is a landmark album and changed the hip hop sound. Also, started east coast renneissance era (which started emerging in late 1992 and taking the industry by storm in 1993) alongside baccdafucup and 36 chambers.

Im so glad to share a little part of history with Blackmoon. My cuz was Eddie Masheddie and he was the rode manager and i went to alot of shows. Most memorable moment...power 99 in Philly. me, buck, ant and evil D thats it. Buck freestyles some wild shit telling everybody who got a problem with bootcamp to come down to the radio station because bootcamp was 100 deep...that was a lie!! It was me and Ant in the Duckdown van eating Burger king and we heard that freestyle and were scared for the next hour!! It was right after the beef with Biggie...shit was crazy..it was only us 2 in the fucking van 😂😂😂😂 thank God nobody showed up 😂😂😂😂 thats my story 🙏 ✌️

How Many MCs? was the hardest track of 93 to me. You could even credit that record for bringing the grimy sound back to NY after years of jazzy New Jack Swing records.

1 thing about Boot Camp, they popularized ebonic spellings. Enta Da Stage, I Got U Opin, hell, Heltah Skeltah and the list goes on.
Naw fam kwame started popularized that in the late 80’s early 90’s songs like ownlee u and oneovdabigboiz, whoz dat guy lol. I remember writing notes in class like that to different girls so the teachers and their parents couldn’t translate them.
That's how I got my job I kept calling, saying yall called me for an interview, and I kept missing the call
Buckshot was one of the best for a minute
Buckshot has had at least 3 different syles in his rapping career, the "Who Got Da Props" Buckshot isn't anywhere near as agressive and militant as the Buckshot you get on most of Enta Da Stage, he reminds me of a lion on that album with his booming roar of a vocal tone and delivery. Then when they did those revamped singles spring 1994 his style was totally different, he was laid back and mystical. The breath control on those records is truly outta this world, he packs so many words in there and his voice remains calm, it isn't easy for rappers to change their style up and evolve but he did it twice in a really short period of time. It was really dope to me to have these interviews released around the 30th anniversary of the release of those singles and videos, "Bucktown" by Smif N Wessun which has Buckshot on it was a really hot single that spring/summer too.
I’m about to take a trip down memory lane and listen to the album! “Mind tricks the body…” has always been one of the illest lines to me!
