Wind On My Nose || Feral Pig Cull || Vertebrate Pest Control || Hog Hunting || ATV || 308Win Rifle
This pest control shooting trip we are out hunting invasive species - Specifically feral pigs on the wheat and sorghum crop fields. There's also the odd fox taken if the opportunity presented itself. There's plenty of action packed footage in this video in both daylight and after the sun sets. If you're seeking a video with bulk shooting footage and no bullshit (maybe a little), this is your happy place !!!
Access into this area is with my mates Polaris XP1000 side by side ATV buggy. This machine is purpose built for his contract shooting business and works amazingly well in the terrain type we are in. We also tacked my EORB E-Bike on the back to close the gap silently on the pigs in the open. Bloody hell isn't that a win, and it'll now be a tool used more often where we need to cover large gaps to get closer to vehicle shy feral animals.
Big thanks to my unnamed mate "Bucket" for the call out seeking assistance on this control program. Yes this is "work" and we are out shooting from late afternoon nearly right through till dawn. But that doesn't mean we don't get to have a few laughs in the process.
I'm running a 308 Win rifle which is fitted on night one with a HIK Micro Stellar 2.0 SQ50 Pro, and night two a HIK Micro Thunder Zoom TQ60Z 2.0.
Daylight scope, I'm using a ZeroTech Vengeance 1-6x24mm SFP RAR, must say I really liked the reticle.
For scanner duties, I'm running the amazing Pulsar Merger LRF XL50 thermal binoculars in a chest rig. I'm yet to use a device it's equal in image and functionality in all aspects. This IMO is the best thermal scanner you can by as of posting this video in March 2024.
We are not shooting feral pigs for human consumption on this trip, it is purely pest control of invasive species in Australia. These uncontrolled animals are an environmental and agricultural menace, often carrying bacterial and diseases like brucellosis. Pigs are left where they lay as carrion, nothing generally lasts more than a week in the Aussie bush before it's just a few scattered remains.
I am a vertebrate pest control - contract shooter in NSW. For those wondering about the equipment being used, both my mate and I hold the necessary permits and licences when working under paid contract in NSW. This isn't hunting, it's professional pest control. If seeking information regarding that, please check the FAR webpage for details in your state. All shooting is performed on privately owned farms, with exclusive permission granted in writing for paid services.
Please don't ask how much I earn or how to become a contract shooter. I'm not a business adviser, the requirements and information vary state by state. If seeking this information research your own states legislation. I get this question a LOT, and it's not a path I wish to go down on social media.

Appreciate your videos. Too old now to hunt. Had a dairy, beef and horses. Some coyote problems. Neighbor with sheep lost 30 in one night to coyotes just having fun. Probably like your dingoes. Buy some ammo. Always a thumbs up. Thanks!
Muppets whinging 🤣. Makes my day to come home from work, grab a beer and sit down to watch you and bucket lay waste mate. I can appreciate the time spent doing the ground work to get to the point where you can offer us the best bits of what essentially is your job. I think some people don't realise the time and effort put in but most of us do mate so thanks very much.
Your keen witty humour and deadly eye make for some of the most entertaining KZhead around Nathan…thankyou 👍
Really appreciate it Greg. Thank you 🍻
Perfect afternoon viewing. Cheers mate, keep up the good work!
The "moon walking" pig at 9.25🤣🤣
This was a good watch. Can’t get enough of it. I’m into your adventures. 😊😊
Awesome! Thank you!
NATHAN your pig count has vastly improved over the bolt action rifles you have been using over the last years. great to see such an improvement. keep up with your posts.
Really appreciate it 🍻
I dunno about that. The count is usually determined by the amount of pigs in range on any given property. There were a lot of misses in this vid that I'll put down to the aforementioned latency of the scope. Having 2 different range settings is fine if it not laggy but as we saw in this vid, he is constrained by the tech of the scope. That wind wouldn't help either. Cheers.
this night vision is top shelf ..Clear image ..my 2 cents worth Nathan is this is number 1
Nathan when I look at your vid and the amount of feral animals out there do you ever wonder if you're making much impact out there. I hate to think how abundant these animals would be if you weren't doing this. Keep up the great vids and good work. Cheers
You are worth the money you're being paid. Always a genuine, thorough approach to reducing pest numbers, carried out professionally. Best of luck for your future endeavours.
Appreciate that
Hate guns and hate killing but when your protecting our environment and supporting our farmers I have zero problem supporting the job you do. Nice work mate:)
Really appreciate that position 👌
That is a mature outlook, well done.
You’re a rare breed the understands the issue and resolution. Thank you
What a great way to start the weekend thanks for the video Nathan
Absolutely love your channel mate. It starts my day off lovely👍🏼
Glad you enjoy it!
As an English man in Canada a legal law abiding gun owner and user id like to thank you for the informative and ethical information and filming . It is realy good and entertaining. My only one comment is we want more footage of bucket come on bucket.
Appreciate it mate 👌
Excellent editing Nathan. People should realise that you have put in many hours of work prior to sharing this video. Job well done. 👍
Much appreciated!
As always Nathan, an excellent all action video, well done. Geoff. UK.
Many thanks!
The e-bike footage is the best...love the setup on the handlebar for your tripod...great job M
Thanks! 👍
Hi Nathan, I'm always amazed by the technical equipment on your hunt. The "golf buggy", converted into a battle-wagon is awesome. Holly grab, that's what I dream about in Germany. Good luck continues, Sir.
😆 if I tell my mate his off road Polaris side by side is a golf cart. He's gunna be pissed 😆
Thanks for this, Nathan. Been out nearly every night last 2 weeks thermal hunting coyotes. Always a pleasure to watch you work. Stay well.
Thunder zoom looked the good to me ! Try not to worry about the wingers online.... your putting out the best night hunting on KZhead...... your not a bad shot either ! Love your work mate.
Appreciate it Mick
Farrrrking Barrrrking love your footage mate. You are sooo lucky to be able to use Suppressors down there. Still cannot understand why they are not allowed up North if your in the Business. Well done Stu, Top footage mate.
Thanks 👍
Looks like a star wars scene when the laser is on.
Pretty cool eh for an accidental bump on 😆
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK only difference is that Stormtroopers couldn't hit the side of a barn 🤣
Another great video. 👍 I do like the thunder zoom haven't managed to get a look through the 640 sensor one yet 👌 🏴
Good choice!
Great stuff mate I liked the thunder you used on the second night the view was great on the 35 the semi you are running now helps with the body count too cheers mate
Thanks 👍
Thumbs up from the U.S.
Welcome mate 🍻
The second scope looked better but as a non shooter i wouldnt know. Thanks for the pest control work keep it up 👍🏿
Cheers mate, I actually agree
mate you have done it again, great stuff
Thank you! Cheers!
I will say I miss the sound of you reloading the bolty. Semi auto slays em but still. Great video as always legend.
Thanks mate 👍
6min 30....'look at these poofters' LOL!
The mouth filter weakened 😆
You are the best at leading your targets! SKILLFUL!
I try
Great vid mate. The e-bike footage was classic. Just as well the side by sides are left hand drive. So that all your brass can go out your side. 👍
Downside - My mates smack me in the head 🤦♂️
All the farmers buy metal detectors after Nathan has been on site, make a bloody fortune at the scrappers. 😂
The sound of that ebike make me want to get a venti oat milk decaf low foam no whip latte😂
LMFAO 🤣
o boy another smile on my face 😄
Fantastic shoot and a fantastic video. Thanks for taking the time to capture your hunt.
Really appreciate that mate
Fantastic footage. Thank you for sharing.
top banana another great video with plenty of pigs down. Personally I found the wider view in the second scope easier to follow visually. Take care and keep up the good work.
A great show Mate, any help our farmers get is welcome.
Cheers Robert
Great work on the feral control and entertaining to boot. WA needs an ambassador like you to halt the overreaching draconian gun laws about to be introduced - our native wild life will suffer majorly if most of our firearms are forced to be handed in.
It's an absolute mess over there ATM
I think I prefer the Thunder. Another fantastic job Nathan.
This helped me enjoy a few Friday sherbets. Preferred the TQ60 I reckon. Cheers Nathan
Appreciate the input mate, I agree 👍
You really need to give some professional advice to my (online) mate Jack Out Back I've been watching you for quite a while and poor ol Jack is struggling alot with camels. Perente Downs station He's humble enough to accept advice and young rough to need the advice
It didn't register with me when i read it, but once you said it (wind on my nose) it clicked. Down wind, they can't smell ya. Got it. Good stuff bud!
Gotta get that wind right 👌
Good to see the countryside so green in this drought were having at the moment mate. Keep up the good work.
Sorry I'm not aware of a current drought, at least where I'm shooting.
As per usual so very interesting & mind boggling with the thermal vision, not sure which is the favourite like them all. Also in Australia it is pronounced ZED.😅
True Dat
NZers were first to pronounce it ZED. You Ockers pinched it from us.
Wish I lived in Oz Thoroughly entertaining guys, thank you for sharing👌🏻
Our pleasure!
The most nanny state in the western world and if you could see what is happening in the urban and suburban parts of our cities and country towns, you'd likely run a mile.
@@victorbitter583mate Australia is by far the best country to live in yes your gun laws suck but they could be far worse
@@william6815 The gun laws are what they are. It's nowhere near the best place to live. I'd move to a third world Asian country in a heartbeat.
@@victorbitter583 Want a lift to the airport? Pack ya shit and go.
Cracking as always. I prefer you on the bolt action, makes the video more relatable to the commoners!
Lol special people . I really enjoyed your video , Cheers mate.
Thanks 👍
Mate that was 30 minutes of awesomeness some great shooting and for a minute there i thought you may have got some beacon on the scope with that piglet lol great work mate 👍🦘🇦🇺
Cheers mate
Great handiwork as always.
That looks like fun lol piggy paddock pizza
Great video Nathan. Look forward to the next one.
Thanks 👍
You gents seem to have better equipment than the farmers in Western Australia who don't seem to have any semi auto firearms
Different states, different user type.
Cheers Nathan, another good job done. 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Love what you guys DO ❤
Love the E bike - “Executioner” bike . Go hard mate .
Works very well indeed
again great work, keep it up Nathan .!!!!!!!!!!!
That's the plan
Top job👍. Good job in the windy conditions
Damn that wind sucks to be in. But it sure makes getting close easily with the cover noise.
Too many to count ? Where are all the cats? Nice work mate.
I'm not a shooter per se but the Stellar I think. Love your videos.
Top quality content. Well done all round …
lovely Ep
Excellent video and explanation Keep doing what you do.
Brilliant vlog of your career! Fantastic pieces to camera with the driest sense of humour! cant fail! even if your shooting vermin! Enjoy
Cheers mate, yep dry as a chip that sense of humour. But it's how I roll 😆
Don’t know if I’m sold on the first scope. But shit! Some of these pigs can take a hit. Cheers as always Nathan.
Thanks mate
The Stella looks like it would be great for longer range work.
Another great job. You said you were running .308 rifle but I didn't see who the maker was. To bad you're not here in America. It's a lot cheaper to get equipment. Thanks again!
G'day mate. Must be the weekend! Fantastic as usual......but fences really are your kryptonite! You either shoot them or snag your pants 😅
I know 😶
Would have loved all this technology back in the 60-70s NATHAN.
Good work you're doing out there, thanks for sharing it
No problem 👍
That camera makes it sound like you're firing heavy artillery!
I always enjoy your videos and the are ALWAYS action packed. Not sure why the YT nazi's took down my first post to you saying this.
Did they, damn. Thanks for circling back mate 👍 Hugely appreciated.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACKFor some reason they seem to do it about every third time or so that I post to you. No clue. Glad to do it, especially if it helps your channel.
First!!!!!!!!!!!
Привет из далёкой России ! Удачи тебе в борьбе за свою землю !
Thanks and welcome 🍻
Hmmm I think maybe the thunder? The clarity was pretty fkn nice 👍
I like the Stellar Style of scope. Tends a more natural shooting position which I love and use. In saying that I haven’t tried the Thunder but they do look great also.
Mate your living the dream
Great job greetings from the Netherlands 😊
Hello
As usual thanks Nath 👍🏾
No problem 👍
love this channel too, eating food while watching not a good idea, ps live in pakenham.
Right near Ben, awesome 👌
Great video.
Thanks!
Good stuff as always
Much appreciated
Sounded like you were shooting Anton Chigurh suppressed shotgun.
I was thinking about starting my own business don’t worry I’m in fnq should do it for free and see how I go and get my name out then start charging and I would only like to brake even since I would only do it on the weekends and Friday arvo and night. Love the content keep up the good work 👍🤙
Your accent and the humor are very entertaining. You must sleep all day then, right? Cheers
Sometimes
Thunder 2.0 looks 👌🏻👌🏻
Great video and great work 👍🏻
Thank you! 👍
Id say the first nights camera was one of the clean n clearest iv seen. But i understand the min zoom problem for fov.
They tested the DNA on some of the pigs in Australia and found the are related to the pigs in Arkansas. The theory is a tourist to Australia from Arkansas brought his girlfriend with him and she got loose.
😆
😂😂😂😂
That is mint

Great video as always Nath. Do us all a favour and film an epic rut this year. I’m missing out this year and want to live vicariously through it!
I've got a solid 2 weeks of adventures planned mate 👌. Shame you can't get out yourself.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK we have a baby due mate so no play for me this year! I’ve got to time my run better next time. Rip in mate!!
Hi guys, good Onya knock off you on the head. Always wonderful in the sea. You are taken of you out but unfortunately there’s millions of them out there but at least you’re having a great crack Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
Definitely the Thunder for me.
Hi Nathan & Bucket ( love that!) When a pig's hooks are about 3" long, how old would that pig be, please? Just a curious old lady in England. Cheers, I like watching with a G&T in hand.....not quite a Tinny but my equivalent of!
Sorry no idea, genetics plays a part. But that sound's like a mature animal.
You got an OLight, nice
Great viewing as usual.
Cheers
Hey mate love the videos...maybe this is a dumb question as I'm not much of a rifle shooter (I do archery primarily), how long does it take to sight in when switching out a new scope? Or with the tech today is it pretty easy? Thanks again for all the work you put in..a very enjoyable watch as always.
I like the eBike but I do not like the way derailleur get clogged with grass when used across country. Which is why I now have a Shimano 8-speed hub gear mechanism. No trailing chain or cogs. Never jams. Not sure how it would work on an eBike but there must be a way to make it work.
I remember a previous episode, possibly a Q&A episode, where you mentioned you use bolt action rifles because of the type of license you carry. I noticed you're using a semi automatic this time around. Did you obtain a new permit? Sorry, I'm not well versed on NSW firearm laws.
Owning and using a semi-automatic in Australia is hugely regulated. The hoops to jump through even for professional use are immense, and the process is massive. And jump the hoops I did.
Great video Nathan. I saw the lag the first time, didnt look right with your typical MV. Dont mind the longer videos at all mate!
Noted!
Love the videos. You uh, definitely like them bum shots though. Haha. Keep up the good work. 🤠
Thanks Don
If you left the carcases 'on the spot' is not increasing the number of scavengers on this area? That means after your job finished, in one month they turn to farm animals for an easy meal?
way too many deer running around australia = when metal detecting i was looking down listening to the beeps - and a dirty huge big male stag deer with huge antelers - snorted stamped on the ground and then burst out of the trees ! so i am thinking only a plastic detector and small shovel - plastic also = i walked backwards to a tree and then his lady deer came out and they pranced away ! yes panic was there.
those scopes must be worth a bit of coin
Yep, good gear isn't cheap, but cheap gear isn't good 🤔
