@@starship2023 underrated comment
"it's 3d Printed" followed by "It's 2500 dollars" is wild
It's most likely a sunk cost issue. They probably had a team of engineers working on this for a long period of time, and people don't work for free. So while the materials and manufacturing is inexpensive, they're trying to recoup the costs of all the work on the front end. That being said, no one in their right mind is going to spend $2500 for a ball they don't have to put air in, while ball pumps cost like $10. This isn't saving anyone anything.
Even with the sunk cost of R&D, having a huge retail price tag is a stupid strategy. @@fumoffu_l If you want to recoup the costs of Capital, then you spread said costs over quantity. That's the basic principle of economies of scale. By setting the price so high on the retail end, they are actively sabotaging their sale quantity and will never make the cost difference that way.
@@fumoffu_lEspecially if/when the printing schematics get leaked and people can just 3D print it themselves

@@rodrigovillegas2263 Are you kidding? 3D printing is horribly cost-ineffective. It only makes manufacturing cheaper for very small volume production, where the cost of setting up more conventional production wouldn't pay off, or for complex shapes that would have to be made from many parts otherwise, or machined in very inefficient manner (i.e. shaving of most of the original material).
