"LIVING ON THE PORCH", THE MARGARET BAUGH WAVERLY HILLS INTERVIEW

2017 ж. 28 Там.

Margaret Baugh
is the oldest known former tuberculosis patient to stay in the Waverly Hills Sanitorium.
She is 91 years of age.
What was supposed to be a two month visit
turned into a one and a half year stay.
These are some of her memories...
The Waverly Hills Sanatorium
is a former tuberculosis hospital located in Louisville, Kentucky.
The 500 room TB hospital was opened in 1926.
Since the introduction of streptomycin in 1943,
the number of tuberculosis cases gradually lowered,
until there was no longer need for such a large hospital.
Waverly Hills was closed in 1961.

  • Ms. Margaret comes into our salon I give her pedicures from time to time. She said she used to get so mad because they'd put their beds outside even if it was snowing. She said snow would just pile up on the end of the beds. She swore they were trying to freeze them lol. She did actually have parts of her lungs removed to help heal her. She said the drs told her she'd be there for about 4 months but it ended up being like 14 months.Shes always smiling and cuttin up. She says if your not laughing your crying and sad. Love her stories. I believe shes about 94 now. Lovely lady what a gem

    • @@katekreamelmeyer9951 you know she has not been in the salon for quite a while now. I even tried to look in the obituaries, I myself wonder how she is doing.

  • I think she had too much family contact for the more cruel abuse to go down with her... I'm sure she went through some horrible things just the things she had to do for food is ridiculous, but it really makes me wonder what a person with no family went through in there. EDIT: No disrespect for this lady whatsoever I think she is strong as hell for enduring what she did, and I'm happy she had family around to keep her from falling through the cracks and ending up like so many others.

  • I really enjoyed this video, and listening to her interview! I ALSO enjoyed seeing the historic outside photo of the Waverly Hospital that I had spent over a week on colorizing it in Adobe Photo Deluxe 4.0 back a few years ago! I never knew so many people would wind up enjoying the photo and using it many times!

  • The Waverly Hills sanatorium is a place where you got treated of TB almost about 20,000 people died there some people lived there was about 1000 nurses there and about more than 1000 doctors at about the 5 floor if the TB got to your brain they would shock you because they didn't know anything else to do some say people still haunt it I believe that there is an afterlife Believe it or not I think that there's a afterlife there was some more bad stuff that happened that I don't want to say please ask if you want to talk about it if you want to talk about Dr.spend I wish you were the best luck.
