  • This was by far the most comic-accurate Hulk to appear onscreen. Classic Hulk from the mid 1960s through 1980s was a creature with unlimited strength but the mindset and language skills of a toddler. He had simple nicknames for his teammates like "fish man" for Namor, "dumb magician" for Dr Strange and "sword girl" for Valkyrie. He was famous for catchphrases like "Hulk smash!" and "Hulk is the strongest one there is!" Hulk just wanted to be left alone but was always pursued by the army (under General Ross) and was feared by the general public.

  • The funniest film in the MCU by far, Taika Waititi (the guy who voiced Korg) definitely put a lot of that Kiwi humor into the film. Some of it was real subtle too, like Korg's rock/paper/scissor joke Korg crushed Miek because Rock crushes scissors, but he failed his revolution for not handing out enough flyers, showing how paper beats rock

  • In the first 2 Thor films, they mention wormholes. At the end of The Age Of Ultron, the quinjet that Hulk was on passed thru one. He ended up on planet Sakaar because Sakaar is surrounded by them. Banner has been Hulk for a few years now and like a toddler, Hulk’s vocabulary is increasing.

  • I love this movie, particularly for what it did for Loki's character arc. Loki isn't... inherently evil. Mischievous, but... living as the butt of peoples' jokes takes a toll on someone. Not that I'm forgiving what he does, but...I understand where it comes from. Hearing his brother telling him that he _believes_ that Loki can be more than the God of Mischief meant a lot to him. Probably the only other person he ever heard anything like that from was Sif, but coming from Thor, who he had fought the hardest against... that's the kind of thing that sticks with someone. He really is able to be so much more than the God of Mischief, and I'm looking forward to you guys seeing his arc progress.

  • A few fun facts! Among other things, this movie takes heavy inspiration from the famous series Planet Hulk; after Hulk is exiled from earth by the other superheroes, he crash lands on Sakaar and triggers a full blown revolution. The movie mostly takes a broad strokes approach; the comic is significantly more serious and even gloomy in tone, as we see a very smart incarnation of the Hulk, but he's been so burned by his bitterness and implicit fear that NOTHING can kill him so he's doomed to spend all time miserable, alone and only really remembering the people he's lost. Miek and Korg (the little bug guy and rock dude) were close friends of Hulk, but Hulk's bitter attitude wound up rubbing off on Miek VERY BADLY, and after it appeared that Miek's people were doomed to extinction while the conquering Imperial aliens were going to prosper, he sunk deeply into Hulk's mantra in the worst possible way: "Never stop making them pay." So all that kind of plays into how the MCU handles it differently; Hulk exiled HIMSELF in Age of Ultron after seeing the horrifying devastation left in his wake, and loves Sakaar, and seems content to live his whole life as a gladiator. This also factors into a thing about Hulk you might not know; there are MANY Hulks within Banner's mind, as Banner has been generally depicted as having Disassociative Identity Disorder as a consequence of trauma. The seemingly childish, angry Hulk is a protector who is in many ways the abused child he once was; lashing out in panicked self defense and screaming to leave him alone (that is, to stop hurting him) and more than anything wants to be loved. So that's the whole dynamic between Banner and Hulk; they're not really seperate entities in a classical sense, but vying over control of Banner's body because he hates himself so much its sort of the logical conclusion to that. There are many other such alters, though so far the MCU hasn't given a sign of them existing. There's a gray hulk called Joe Fixit, a street-smart and even sadistic guy who is less powerful but very crafty, existing as a hedonistic outlet for all the passions and desires Banner refuses to acknowledge that he even wants; the intelligent but bitter and vindictive Hulk from the Planet Hulk series is often called the Green Scar. (If you see Hulk depicted as reasonably intelligent but irritable while still being a genuine hero who complains about having to save the puny humans, its PROBABLY based on the Green Scar to some degree.)

    • @@mehakdeepsingh4849 Yes, in real Norse mythology, that is how he lost his eye. But in the MCU, he lost it in his battle with the Frost Giants. In the first Thor film, you see him getting hit in the eye. When Stan Lee created the Thor character for Marvel comics, he BASED it on the Norse mythology but he changed a few things. For example, “Laufey” is actually the name of Loki’s giantess mother, not his father.

  • Here are some Thor Ragnarok facts. This movie is a mixture of two different movies the original Ragnarok story from the comics with a planet Hulk movie storyline intertwine in the narrative that happened mostly off screen. You should check out the plan hulk animated movie for better contacts into the story. Doctor strange has a lot of knowledge about the mystic arts but in raw power Steven doesn't stand a chance. Hela was able to break m'jolnir because she was a true owner of the hammer. The reason Thor did not know he had a sister because she is much older and his half-sister. In the comic books Hela will not the half sister to Thor but the daughter of Loki which is why she looks and reminds you of Loki. Valkyrie and Thor's mother wear the same age but Valkyrie didn't age because she spent most of her time on the planet saakar. Which also means physically Loki is nowhere near the strength of Valkyrie because as guardians get stronger at their older they become her being much older she's much stronger. Loki is more powerful due to his use of magic fake Loki still might be more powerful than Thor in power scaling but with physical strength Valkyrie strength-wise is just a little less than Thor who himself has became equal in strength to the Hulk. When in the first Avengers movie Thor was half of the Hulk Strength now being equal to the hulk. Now of course the whole can get stronger and angry he gets but his base level strength being around 350 ton. Bruce and the Hulk are two separate identities with shared memories. The grandmaster is the brother of The collector both being elders of the universe.

    • Ok let’s start with the animated planet hulk is nowhere near accurate and it was silver surfer hulk fought in comics and they had to jump him despite him not having the power cosmic. Even in comics Loki is not far off from Thor strength. Strange has always handled hulk it’s Loki who has always beat strange also this movie is nowhere near the Ragnarok story they just used the name.

    • Well in mythology - yes. Not in Marvel though - it was showed Laufey hurled a spiked ice-ball in his face during the Thor 1 intro :)

  • In Norse myth, Ragnarok is the end of days, the Apocalypse if you will. Ragnarok will be preceded by the Fimbulwinter, 3 terrible winters all rolled into one, and lasting for 3 years with no intervening summers. It is then that the jotunn will march upon Asgard and make battle with the Æsir. Heimdallr, Watchman of the Bifrost, will blow the Gjallarhorn, summoning the warriors of Odin, the Einherjar, from the hall of Valhalla to face them. These are not the only threats the gods face, however. Fenrir, the great wolf, chained by the gods through trickery, will finally break his bonds and seek out the Allfather who ordered him chained. He will devour both the sun and the moon, plunging the worlds into darkness, and will swallow Odin whole; his son Vidarr will avenge him however, by using the Thickmost Shoe (crafted from all the scraps and leavings from all the cobblers in the realms) to step on the great wolf's lower jaw and heave upon his upper jaw with all his strength, breaking him in half. The World Serpent, Jormungandr, will finally loose his tail from his mouth and thrash so violently that the seas of the world churn and heave, destroying coasts and all those upon them. Thor the Thunderer, armed with his might hammer Mjolnir, will battle the great wyrm, taking many bite wounds in the process, but finally crushing the beast's skull with a heavy blow. The venom from the serpent's jaws will spell his doom, though, killing him swiftly. Hel, the half-alive, half-dead daughter of Loki, banished by Odin to rule over the dishonored dead in Hel, will lead her subjects upon the Ship of Nails, Naglfar (called so as it is constructed from the unclipped finger and toenails of the dead) to do battle with the gods alongside the giants, meeting the Einherjar in battle as well. Finally, Surtr, King of the Fire Giants of Muspellheim (the eternal realm of fire) will come forth blazing brightly, slaying any who stand in his way to burn down Asgard and all of creation. The only one who dares to challenge him is Freyr, god of the Alfar (Elves), but he is doomed to failure as he traded away his magic sword that could fight on its own for the hand of the giantess Gerdr, daughter of Gymir, and so stood against his foe with only a deer's antler for a weapon. He is swiftly slain, and then Surtr, laughing, scatters fire and flame over all of the realms. But all is not lost, as destruction is only the other side of creation, and eventually the world will bloom with new growth again, and Men will reawaken from their hidden slumber, and the gods shall arise anew. This is the tale of Ragnarok.
