How to match your makeup to your outfit
If you've watched my channel for a while, you know how much I love to put an outfit on and then create my makeup look around that. Usually it involves a denim shirt.
So today as I put on this pink shirt, I was inspired to match it with one of my favourite Lisa Eldridge lipsticks, Strawberry Shock. A perfect shade for summer.

Caroline I’ve been away from your channel for a while as I have a 6 month old baby and life has been a blur but what an incredible video to come back to! This might be my favorite look you’ve ever done. You look SO beautiful and fresh and spring like and as always show how to make everything completely flattering with a supremely modern edge. Just LOVE this and am totally inspired to try the strawberry look! It’s especially cool because I call my baby girl my strawberry so now I can try to match her 😂 but also just have to say that it’s hard to explain (I bet most of your audience will agree with me on this) but your videos just bring me so much joy and kind like an excitement about how uplifting beauty is for the mood. You bring such a quick shift into joy and I just want to thank you so much.

Clinic high impact waterproof black/brown is a great brown mascara. Maybe darker than you’re looking for. So happy to have these other recommendations for brown!
Lovely look! Just wish Rosalique wasn’t quite so orange when it blends out from the green. Want to love it but it’s just too dark on me under tinted moisturisers etc. I wish they’d find a way to formulate one for fairer skins. Love bright lipsticks and want to wear them but reds just make my teeth look yellow! you look lovely as always and suit any colours! 👍🏻😀

@@SpeedBeautybyCarolineBarnes it stopped me from making my eyes too heavy. 👍🏻 I ended up using a pale pinky/ beige eyeshadow crayon then black mascara. No eyeliner, which is a real change for me, because I did a very light coating of mascara on my bottom lashes. (Also a real change for me!) It just worked. I guess you don’t know til you try things! ☺️

This is such a soft, pretty summer makeup. I love the lippy😍. Unfortunately I have very thin lips now so a red lipstick looks harsh on me, no matter what I try. I learn so much from your skills in adapting a makeup as you go along. I find myself responding to you during the video. Another sign of my senility😂. See you next week 💖

Great way to wear Strawberry shock! I love the aubergine mascara and tip to do just the outside of the lower lash As brown mascaras go, I love Thrive Causmetics and Tower 28 mascaras.

I really like Sweed tubing mascara in dark brown. Great brush, gets right to the roots, stays put but is so easy to remove with warm water.
This must be prefilmed because we've had one hell of a heat wave in the UK. It was 27 degrees in my house yesterday. Looks like it's gonna be another roasting summer. Did you see my comment in your previous video about makeup for very fair cool toned skin with red and blue undertones? I now need you to find me a pale bronzer, please, and I will be completely set-up! Thank you again.
Hi Caroline despite being very much a nude/natural lipstick wearer (with a more dramatic eye look 😂), sometimes in the Summer I find myself enjoying a simple eye look with a brighter lip. I think it can look very fresh faced as demonstrated in this look. I only own the one bright lipstick for this type of look. I’m not a red lip person and so many lipsticks change colour on me to unflattering warm shades (I have extremely cool toned pale skin and a lot of purple in my own lip shade). A bright pink with a lot of lilac in it transforms into a flattering bright pink on me as the lilac disappears (same as purple blush becomes a mauve or a lilac pink just looks pink). Laura Mercier rose mauve looks like a really fun pop of colour with my extremely pale skin, but may lose that brightness if worn by a darker skin than mine. Best wishes x

Gorgeous! I love how your make-up evolves until it’s all cohesive. I have the strawberry shock lipstick too.. but have only used it one way as a ‘bright’ - I’ll try the more subtle layered look now.
Isn't it amazing that when you work 'backwards' by applying lippy first, just how little eye make-up is needed?!!! I think I would have applied far too much eye at first and then looked too overdone if I applied that strong colour lipstick. Again it's all about balance! Thank you for reminding me of this, Caroline. There are times that I choose a lipstick that goes with an outfit before I've even thought about any other make-up, so I'm definitely going in first with that before eyes next time. Beautiful colours on you, Caroline. Can you do some Summer looks for brown/hazel eyes, please? I tend to favour cool tones, but I do that all year round and sometimes fancy a change and a zing of colour. I have very pale skin, so can't take too much, but some suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks for the great video, as always!. X

20 years ago when I had 1 of everything, foundation, blush eye quad, mascara & 2 lipsticks, I hit pan or used it all up & bought new. Now, it would take me years I have too many lippies that I'll never use up.

Loving that strawberry pop and red blusher combo ❤️. Key question please… when applying a second coat of mascara, how long do you leave between coats? I always seem to get this one wrong and end up with clumpy lashes… so much so I stick to one coat, but I keep enviously looking at other people who clearly don’t have falsies on, but do have a much better look out of plain mascara… x

I had a collection of Lisa Eldridge’s lipsticks but the thought of taking them out of the beautiful tubes gives me anxiety. I can see the benefit but I couldn’t handle it. I ❤ wearing strawberry shock in Spring and Summer.

The YSL Lash Clash in Uninhibited brown is very nice…Although it is “rich brown”, so maybe darker than you want? I personally love the Chanel Le Volume in Ecorces. But it’s a very dark brown. (It almost looks black, but not as harsh…) ❤

As usual - you hit the spot. BTW I had a formal event this week. I tried the minimal makeup no makeup look that you and Lisa promote. It was a hit. Everyone had very heavy makeup on and I had a very soft wash (that took one hour to make up might I add) and pictures came out fabulous. Thank you for your chanel and your help!😇

Saie Beauty has a great brown mascara that I really like🤷♀️ Like you… I had a hard time finding one I liked. By accident I had ordered the brown one from Saie and tried it and really liked it.
Collection brown macara superdrug cheap but if you use a lash separator makes it look like high end mascara …. Now there’s a tip 👍

I love this look and can’t imagine a brown mascara looking as nice as the aubergine. I find brown mascaras are not flattering to the whites of the eyes.
Stunning lipstick!! That bronzer is so amazing I am now desperate to break my no-spend rule 😮. Right now I’m a miserable, hot, itchy, ball of pain with shingles but you’ve cheered me up no end ❤. I seem to go back to Lancôme Hypnose when I wear a brown mascara. I’m a (previously helped, now seriously fading, but no grey) ginger and in summer I am happy with tinted sunscreen and/or skin tint, but black mascara then looks too harsh. Would be great to see you put some brown’s to the test and let us have some recommendations. And, honestly, I’d be keen to hear about the ones that don’t work for you as we have different needs and preferences and some you don’t like others may drool over - or maybe that’s just me in my advancing years 😅.
