NEVER TOO SMALL: Paris Architect’s 70s Luxe Apartment, 53sqm/570sqft
Visit www.nts-store.com/products/es... to get your hands on our Essential guide to your living room.
Home to architect Jean Malo Le-Clerc of JMLC studio, this 1970’s inspired apartment located a stone’s throw from the Moulin Rouge pays homage to the original apartment, integrating materials and colours reminiscent of the 70’s. With a focus on creating an effortless and contemporary living environment, Le Clerc designed an open plan kitchen, dining, and living area, along with a spacious and luxurious hotel-like bedroom and bathroom. The apartment also features a new laundry space concealed within a full height mirrored closet and a retractable work from home station hidden behind two steel doors mounted onto a round tiled wall in the dining room. A bedroom carpeted in sunset orange and a bathroom covered in baby blue tiles adds a touch of retro playfulness to the sleek contemporary aesthetics of the rest of the home.

What I really liked about this apartment is that not only were the renovations smart, it genuinely looked like people lived there. Too often architectural and interior programs show these little perfect models that feel to precious to be called a home. Not this one. A great blend of style, function, and comfort 👍
And it is sustainable!
The use of different materials and accented designs are very clever and understated, but there are some small inconveniences that wouldn’t be noticed until you start living there daily. Mainly, having the stove top on the kitchen island without a back splash or induction vent make it impractical to cook anything without a mess or covering the entire living room furniture with oil and grease.
@@IamnotJokicthe stove top has an integrated hood ;)
@@Malzaaaa how do you know that? From the video it does not seem like it does.
@@IamnotJokic he said it, plus, we can clearly see the round grid on the images
It’s great that the architect/owner reinterpreted a vision of the 1970s in this space, while also making sure it functions for his requirements in the current era. Very stylish and efficient use of every single bit of space, too. Well done!

Precisely considered. But to its credit, it doesn't seem over-designed. Just comfortable.
Great job using colors and materials in keeping with the building’s vintage. This is too often overlooked and helps any home feel timeless, rather than becoming dated ten years after renovation.
Stunning transformation of a compact space into a luxurious 70s-themed apartment! The architect's use of rich textures and clever layout makes this 53sqm Paris flat both elegant and functional.
This was truly one of the best renovations shown on this channel. Chapeau to the architect/designer: muted colours and yet warm; ordinary furnitures and yet sophisticated; sober environment and yet playful. Really well done! Best of luck to Jean Malo Le-Clerc.
Ordinary furnitures? It’s all vintage designer 😅 must have cost a fortune to furnish this apartment.
"All" vintage designer? There is also plenty of IKEA. It is important to watch "all" the video, not just "part" of it. :)
Great apartment, love the furniture, but the record player is tragic. Lose that and the Bluetooth speaker and whatever the other thing on that surface is, there is plenty of space for a couple of active speakers and a proper turntable.
This is absolute eye candy, every small detail is well thought out and every material used is gorgeous to look at and it all blends perfectly together. Probably my favorite on this channel by far!
absolutely agree! Delicate, clever, vibrant, playful and varied while staying homogeneous, and all that with a wink to the 70ies. Absolutely brilliant.
Agree!!!!! Reminds me of le pigalle hotel
I FRICKING LOVE THAT BLUE BATHROOOM!!!!!
It's too eye candy.. especially Kitchen area.. also laundry area if done a little differently would be nice.. overall it's beautiful
It’s the bathroom for me! 😍
This is one of my favourites. It's both luxurious and liveable. The retro touches and colours are really subtle and sophisticated
This is a lovely apartment. I really like the fluted glass in the shower. Makes a nice change from all the clear glass ones we see everywhere.
10/10 that's PERFECT. Great design, color choices and furniture, but most important: it really feels like home. Well done!!!
I think this is my favorite apartment so far. I love the colour of the bathroom and will steal that for our renovation.
Love the style of the appartment . Very understated . As a recently graduated architect who works in the arrondissement , it’s very difficult to find an appartment at a reasonable price around here (the price of the square meter has been multiplied by 5 since the early 2000s) , so you’d definitely have to find ways to make the most of every square meter . The surface that they managed to find is quite impressive to be honest and they made great use of it ! Also the mirror in the kitchen is definitely a trick I’ll use in the future .
My favourite NTS home yet - So stylish, so functional. Utility maximised in a way that’s so seamless.
One of the most wonderful apartments on this channel ! I love everything about it. The different use of materials, different textures, the furniture, the colour palette, the rounded shapes … but still everything in harmony ! astonishing ❤
Excellent! 💯💯👋👋
I love everything about this apartment, especially the lovely blue bathroom with gently pouring light... so peaceful!
This is so well-made! The amount of storage is phenomenal yet it still looks spacious. Also the color scheme is not so monotone which brings joy to the eye! Personally I love the blue bathroom. I could totally see myself living there. Love love love❤
This book is a comprehensive guide for anyone who wants to create various types of garden buildings. The book provides clear and detailed instructions with numerous photos. kzhead.infoUgkxBE-xSmFU7PIaMFUmmhnFxE035s5svtxeAs a novice, I appreciated the book's step-by-step approach to the basics of building. The book also appeals to the more advanced DIY enthusiast with projects ranging from simple to complex. The book is up to date with the latest trends, such as solar panels, green roofs, and sweet chestnut shakes. The book has inspired me to pursue more projects in the future.
Really high taste level Jean-Malo, love everything about this apartment, especially the way you used joinery form to solve existing/detailing issues, and the play on mixing domestic and industrial textures.
Incredible!

*Amazing place* 👍
The colors are so beautiful.
Beautiful design.
finally amazing project
The bathrooms are fantastic 👌
Interesting space love it.
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤
This one really love
50-70sqm seems to be the optimal size for one person or a couple. As the home appears to use exclusively Bang and Olufsen A/V electronics, this is a clue the renovation was not inexpensive. very tastefully done.
@@wilmaknickersfit No way!!!! How does one get two bedrooms in 53 sqm?
Not just the renovation, even in desperate state 53sqm (not small by any standard btw) in such an area and building, with a balcony (extremely rare in Paris), must have cost an awful lot. Add to that the all custom renovation with quality materials and you realize this is to be put in the luxury category.
@@rebours Agree 100%. I'm current in the SF Bay area in a 62 sqm apartment (love it) and looking to find (trade) a similar size unit in the Netherlands. Our summer home in the states is 300 sqm on 1 hectare of land. It is nice and quiet but a little too much to handle. Agree - Smaller is best!
Love the colors of both bathrooms.
Absolutely beautiful home! ❤️
Very nice. Functional and stylish.
It’s just perfect ❤
Congratulations! True delight!
This space is lovely. The blue tiles in the bathroom make it look so fresh and clean. Well done👏🏼
Yes! I loved that blue tiled bathroom. I wish they showed the ceiling too so I can see all the light fixtures. The lights were really well placed as they created a nice mood.
Gorgeous! Love this apartment.
Thoughtful, tasteful and beautiful ✨
DIVINE, period.
Love this - so practical and chic
This is the best one. I wish you good memories in that place.
Beautifully done!
So nice!
Beautiful design throughout this home👍🥰
I adore that porch/balcony!
i love all the rounded edges and details oml
this is magnificently STUNNING!!!!
So beautiful…Seems bigger and have a lot of light
Well done!
LOVE!!!
This is one of my fav episodes ! Amazing design
Before and after photos really emphasise the amount of work that went into this apartment. Really nice design.
I loved the yellow area 💛
Nicely designed in a good district.
this home makes me feel so relaxed
So beautiful. Every single detail is so well thought out. Even the door handles are gorgeous. Love the retro tiles around the built in desk cupboard. You are so creative.
Super good! Congratulations on this wonderful renovation.
Absolutely love this apartment and the use of the space😀
Small & Stylish. Many compliments!
That bathroom 😍
It’s great that he put so much thought into practical things when designing .
Liveable and cozy. Very good design.
J' adore 💙
I live the bathroom. that colour is so calming and a sense of cleanliness too
Very well planed and used space. I adore the styling of the wooden kitchen and the play with the green sofa and metal cabinet doors!
Good 👍 job , I like it, contrast is soft and warm and beautiful
Stylish and chic
what a lovely place to live in .. these gentlemen have good taste !
This apartment is a work of art.
C'est parfait! A faultless renovation and reworking of the apartment in my opinion. The blue-tiled bathroom is particularly beautiful.
Que lindo todo, me agrado el cambio de colores en el baño azul y sillón verde ,que rico saborear la vista en el balcón ,esas plantas lo hacen ver cómo un paraíso en ese pequeño espacio
53 sqm is not really small. ;) Well designed, with a beautiful color palette and for once comfy furniture. It looks like you can actually live there not only for a short period of time, like other appartment designs with cold uninviting sterile atmosphere, sofas, chairs and so on.
Well done! A smörgåsbord of good choices!
What a lovely spacious house, I like the colors palette and all details with materials 💖
Les intérieurs aménagés par les architectes français font partie de mes préférés: ils reflètent bien l'art de vivre à la française.
ugh i love the entrance
I love it when they actually live in the space they designed. It always feels more liveable and less airbnb-esque.
Love the use of built-ins and various materials (ie tile, wood, stone, steel) while maintaining a surprisingly quiet, peaceful feel to this small space.
I love everything that I am seeing in here. 😍💯
I like how fresh and calm feeling he created in this apartment. The colors and forms give the impression of a cool breeze in the quiet woods. Nice job. ^^
I loveeee everything in this apartement. Seems so spacious with lots storage too. I really like the kitchen
