NewsNation’s Robert Sherman in Tel Aviv says Israel claims Hamas has never intended to sign on to any agreement. The U.S. continues to oppose any Israeli offensive without a plan to make sure civilians are safe, and so far, the U.S. hasn’t seen such a plan.

When a kidnapper is rewarded what message is sent? Imagine exchanging 1000 prisoners for 1 soldier. No wonder hostages were taken on October 7th. Hamas knows they are valuable bargaining chips and are likely to continue in this vein to achieve their objectives. Are hostages lives worth more than the lives of IDF soldiers? Already more soldiers have died than the number of hostages taken, most of these were reservists and many have been severely injured. Moreover, consider the irony of it all that the Hamas leader in Gaza, Sinwar, was among the 1000 prisoners released several years prior. So his release facilitated the massacre which occurred last October. Should Israel agree to a permanent ceasefire would history repeat itself, probably even on a larger scale? Then the question would be: Are these remaining hostages’ lives worth more than the lives of future victims?
