I could never stand NASCAR, and the only other racing I had ever heard of was street racing. Once I found and bought Dirt Rally, I was hooked. Maybe I'll convert one of my old Mini-T RC cars into a rally car. :P

I've been following F1 for the last 20 years and WRC from a distance over the last few years and as much as I don't like to admit it, WRC drivers are on another level compared to the F1 drivers. And I know people will say that "that's not the same thing", but, when your safety barrier is a big pine tree or a massive rock, that should settle the argument.....at least I think so.

FIA has made a good move with the WRC Plus regulation, it is really exciting compared to the last years of WRC. But still I wonder why everyone craves for group B, myself included; the new cars are faster, much safer and look slick with all those aerodynamic features. I guess if they would drop the rule on engine displacement (inline-4 1.6L turbo engine for everyone) it'd be a game changer, right now all car feel exactly the same while in the good old days each car had its own temperament. I would also revise the rules to let more and smaller companies to enter their cars in the WRC. Last but not least the car manufacturers should sell to the public road versions of their rally cars, I mean... rally is for selling cars: if I see a fast Yaris on Sunday I'm not going to the car dealership to buy a 1.0 3 cylinder 60hp citycar on Monday. Also, now we are in the dawn of a new era of motoring thanks to the recent developements in electric vehicles: I think they sould have and experimental eWRC class with very few rules, a bit like group B, but for electric or hybrid prototypes; after all, many manufacturers put a lot of effort into rally i the past because it would prove a good testing ground for new technologies to be put into everyday cars (4WD is the best example, but also turbocharged engines...).

I could watch this for days and days!!! Clearly the BEST MOTORSPORT IN THE WORLD. It'd also be the most popular If they could find some better way to market it. Rally drivers are easily the most skillful motorsports drivers in the world, contending with constantly unpredictable conditions. Thankyou for the awesome video mate. If WRC combined this footage with their own official footage, it'd make for one of the best ever rally videos ever made!!

I don't understand how it's possible that at least a dozen spectators aren't killed annually.
In Spain and Portugal the spectators push their luck to the limits....some of them do get killed.

@@Dashinix that's what we sayin, u gotta expect the unexpected. You could even get hit by a loose tire standing 50 meters from the track. Yes, it is unlikely but almost anything could happen especially when you are standing right at the track.

the FIA needs to bring back homologation requirements it makes me so mad that Ford campaigns a Fiesta RS in WRC but there's not a street version with an EcoBoost engine and AWD. Make these companies sell us fast cars again!

Would be a nice change from the mediocre crossovers we see everyday. :p Toyota has already made a headstart with the Yaris GR, a street variant inspired by the WRC model. Good job Toyota!! VW did the same before with the limited Polo WRC street version. And then there's Hyundai with the i30N that has *manual* gearbox and handbrake lever. 😃👍

my dad used to go to rally sweden in the 90s with his brother but havent been in a long while. so i am planning to go with my brother and father this year, will be first time for me. my brother lives 30 minutes from the start and within 1 hour of several stages. so it will be rather easy to take a trip.
Cool moments there for sure. Not watching the sport myself I was worried about the fans being so close on those crazy courses. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun though (driving).

Like soccer, ralley racing is looked down on in the USA. I grew up watching nascar racing which is basically Left tuuurn, straight away, left tuuurn, straight away etc. Ralley is real racing. It's raining, hail ,tornados coming towards you? Too bad keep driving, snow and mud? Tuff, keep driving! Wrecked and missing a wheel but the car is still functional,get your ass moving. And the fans at great risk to life will get you back on the road!! Awesome
