Two relatively new skydivers (150 jumps) try several attempts at a Mr. Bill exit from a helicopter at 4500 feet, with each attempt turning out worse than the previous. It's never a good thing when your bridle wraps around a GoPro, arm and/or leg. No bueno.
I'm no Mr. Bill expert, but I do know that pitching your pilot chute with your back towards the relative wind won't improve your odds for a successful Mr. Bill.
Have you ever tried a Mr. Bill? If so, how did it go? Let us know in the comments.
Huge thanks to these skydivers for having the courage and humility to share this footage so that others can learn from their mistakes.

Can't wait for attempt number 4. You've pretty much covered all the possible mals already.
I successfully did it on attempt number 7
You would think that after watching the first attempt on video he would of realized how much of a snag hazard that hood was for his bridle...
He’s dumb i know him
@@juliahicks7654 😂👍
Lets just pitch immediately into the down draft of a chopper instead of waiting a few seconds to clear the wash because eventually it will just WORK
He may not be strong enough to hold on during deployment if they delayed for a few seconds. Although doing a Mr. Bill out of a helicopter is already kind of pointless since the entire fun of helicopter jumps is to get that freefall feeling you get jumping from a stationary position & accelerating to terminal, as opposed to a plane already moving 60 to 80 something knots, which is also the point of a Mr. Bill.
no problem, the gopro will catch the pilot chute immediately and eventually give it a little delay :D
@Kerry that blows my effing mind too.
Also the drogue chute REQUIRES SPEED BEFORE IT'S DEPLOYED. That's why you see base jumpers on extremely short jumps jumping with their main chute in their hands. If you pull a drogue chute too early it literally might never pull your main out of your pack. It amazes me when people willing to skydive have zero concept of how the physics behind everything works.
@@jonslg240 It amazes me that so many people comments on things they don't know anything about. Drouges are used on tandem systems. Solo skydivers use pilot chutes. Also, basejumpers don't go with their main parachute in their hand on super low jumps. They use bigger pilot chutes, PCA (pilot chute assist), direct bag, or static line.
Everybody can go viral on KZhead. These guys are aiming for Liveleak!
"Just throw it?" "No, pay attention to which way you're moving first." "Ok so just anywhere while we still tumble?" "No god dammit, pay attention." "Dude, get your face out of the way."
I don't know anything about skydive so i really like that you explain each situation in every video! +1
At least WAIT a bit for some airspeed to build up. AND face the ground in stable position, as there's no relative wind deploying right at exit!
🤔there is relative wind! ☝🏻it's coming from the propeller😂
Alexandr s it's a chopper so how do you think the wind from the rotor is going to help ? Sloppy deployments looked scary.
@@gordongonegolfing7129 if you didn't get my joke, I'm sorry then, can't help you😁
@@AlexandrSKYTRASH Main rotor prop wash can be a real bitch...!! :)
This guy teachs us what not to do! Thank you for your lessons! 😉
These guys are totally doing some courageous skydiving comedy sketches..! I like it.. we are sitting back and judging them.. totally missing the point.. it's a comedy sketch..!
Need to read the full description, the snags were not part of the sketch.

GoPro. Be a Hero ;)
I love it. I hope they keep trying.
I don't think they ever realized the helicopter isn't hovering. It's moving forward and he's pulling with his back to the wind.
man... you have to wait that full 10 seconds before deploying with hellicopter! there is all this wind blowing down. I wouldn't even pitch this quick in a balloon jump!
Prolly should wait a solid 60 sec

Thought the rule was 200 jumps min to wear cameras.
what, is there a law or something
@Red Fields not everywhere. In Finland you need 200 jumps to wear a camera.
USPA recommendation 200 and a c license
why what the fuck does a camera matter?
@@dubb9020 - From my experience cameras always take some focus away from whatever you're doing. It's another thing to check and think about, this could make you miss a crucial check (I didn't attach my reserve whilst paragliding once because I was thinking about the camera instead). Also when in flight/dive you're thinking about what the footage might look like and trying to get nice shots so you might miss something like not pulling in time or a flying pig. In this video, the first attempt, chord gets caught on the camera and this is down to his inexperience. Hope that helps
I wonder if this guy is still alive today hahah

The definition of "insanity" good job on not dying 🤦♂️
I feel like I'm watching one of those training videos where they purposely have malfunctions to help aid new jumpers... this guy was intent on killing himself 🤣😂🤣
Yeah I was just trying to teach people what not to do.
The 3 strike law should apply here.
Mother nature will take of it, it always does!
lesson 1: how aerodynamics work
Pretty sure you're supposed to jump straight up headfirst into the rotors.
that is called commitment :)
I hope they have not given up on completing their mrbill. These vids are great
I can imagine the pilot chute/drag chute getting somehow sucked into the rotors and pulling them into the blades... I wouldn’t even untie my shoes that close to a “chopper”. Chopper. Chop chop chop!
Quelle équipe ! ^^
You have to clear the down wash from the rotors..As the pilot chute just flounders.. Unless the helicopter has forward motion... And yes that down wash extends 200m+ just hovering....
Waiting for border to open for my AFF training, But nothing about this seemed like it was to procedure or worth while. can someone tell me if im missing something? is this a form of Base training?
boy this pissed me off to watch.
At first I thought he was just practicing BASE Jumping, then I see his slider is stowed properly. And, he opens up in a vertical just moments after exiting a HELICOPTER. So I am done gussying. Would someone fill me in on what he was thinking? And trying to accomplish?
These 2 could fuck up a wet dream.
Not even a lost shoe! Pah!
Some of thee most irresponsible mals I've ever seen! Clearly they didn't watch their footage after each jump to see what issue they were facing! I've done one twice, once as the 'anchor', and once as the 'holder'... Remember what you learned at your basic AFF course, 'plan the dive, and dive the plan'! This take two seasoned jumpers who still need to take into account the extreme risks involved in such a highly dangerous manoeuvre! And my last rant, remember, the longer you fall, the higher tie risks involved in the jump! Always remember if you're the 'holder' to ALWAYS be inverted so that you minimise all possibilities of a line over or as we saw here, an entire rabbit hole of problems!! Be safe friends of the sky 👊🏼
audible "uh-oh" during attempt 3.... nice.
how not to do Mr. Bill haha next time wait for 3-5 seconds and hold on the chest strap so you dont pull accidently on the cutaway and reserve handle
"coming soon to the fatalities list"
Its not the hood its the down wash from the helicopter rotar pushing his chute back down. Needed more seperation from the helo
So there’s no fourth try?
Me in the corner wondering what a Mr Bill is lol
He released to soon on one of the jumps. The downwind generated by the helicopter caused the problem.
Mr Bill in a downdraft from the hellie - never going to work!!
This is the definition of insanity, some people say :D
Dude got really close to pulling his reserve handle too on the third attempt. Smh
What were they trying to do?
If they freely chose to share this footage I respect that.. it might wake someone else up...worrying that they seemingly didn't solicit feedback to make their jumps more fun=safe. also messed up that no one on the DZ picked it up... really no one knowing their jump plan or watching from in the heli?
where are all the camera police at?
Ready, set, GO! - Uh oh.... I guess you could use this video in your "What not to do at skydiving" video. It covers pretty much everything that COULD go wrong.
They should pitch on headwind!
Try doing it from a plane and a student rig next time: freefall speed too low for pilot chute to inflate.
In germany we have a saying: No master has fallen from the sky. This feels espacially true in this case xD
Why is he pitching the pilot chute immediately after exiting (helicopter) in sub terminal air? Wait to get some speed (and most importantly, stability) first! Jesus... his bridle snagged at least a half a dozen times before his main chute was even deployed.
Mr Bill out of a King Air... broke my ankle :\
I dont know who you are but I dont appreciate how you treat your jellyfish.
Wake turbulence!
dumping in dead air , helps if the pilot flies forward at 10 knots , and u delay opening a bit longer ! ! !
hey.there is a name i recognise.i did aff in sebastian a quarter century ago.pretty sure i met u there....i never did mr bill.maybe they could have a pilot chute buddy in the helicopter like base jump
Real Stunts ever
I don't get the Mr. Bill out of a helo thing. :-/
Can someone please explain what exactly is a Mr bill?
Mr Bill consists in a 2 way jump. One skydiver opens his chute while the other one grabs the harness of the opened parachute. The second skydiver freefalls twice.
Was he crying in the first attempt? Maybe why he had his sunnies on for the other two?..
Not going fast enough?
every single time he has a problem whit the parachute ,,, because open to early ......
OK, what's a Mr. Bill exit?
Just wonder why they exit like this and not try to staible and arch then pull the pilot 🤔🤔
Tentou morrer três vezes e não conseguiu. Teve sorte.
I could se the curvature of the earth, but it was the wrong way 🙈
And what exactly were they trying to do?
They are trying a 2 way where one guy opens while the other guy holds on to the harness. Once under canopy the guy hanging on let’s go, and opens his canopy. Problem the first guy is trying to toss his pilot out in the Heli’s rotor wash and not getting a clean opening. They need to wait 3 - 4 seconds. Get into clean air then pull his pug.
You need definitely more hooks and cameras at you when you do stuff like this! 🤔
I know, there’s room for at least 4 more gopro’s on his helmet, what an amateur
im on only 50 jumps so believe me im noooooo expert. But honestly, I feel like for a Mr. Bill they shouldnt do it on a hop and pop, they werent even "over the hill" when he pitched his pilot chute, like they were in a completely fucked up orientation to pitch a pilot chute. but if someone with more experience can explain why its okay then id appreciate the knowledge!
Don't get it.. what were they trying to do?
It's called a Mr. Bill Jump. It's very old school. Basically what is supposed to happen is the parachute deploys, then the guy hanging on (Bill) climbs onto the shoulders of the other guy and sits in his slider.
What were they doing???
mr bill
Despite the sketchy dead air pilot chute pitch, the passenger should not have been holding on to his harness above his handles.
Lol wtf. These guys definitely won't make it past B license at best. Why would you think the PC and bridle ISN'T gonna go over your head exiting a heli and pitching immediately when you are not belly to earth. Lol they just acted like they were exiting with forward airspeed and relative wind like normal MrBills which make it safeish lol. Then they tried 2 more times lol.
What’s going on here? Why’s he pulling before he’s stable? I don’t know what I’m talking about but this seems cooky
Perhaps parachuting isn't for everyone 😄
Don't you need a D license to jump off choppers. How the hell did you even pass AFF & A,B,C license lmao
