    • I know! At first I thought she had a baby somewhere in the background that was making noises, but eventually I realized it was the porcupine! It sounds like a combination of certain types of squeak toys and a baby. I had no idea at all that porcupines sounded like that.

    • there are lotsve cases where ppl have led terrified in their tents or cabins at night convincing themselves they were surrounded by ghosts or goblins outside when it was only porcapines chattering away and bumbling around 😂😂 i suppose it sounds cute and funny in the video but if you were alone in the forest at night and didnt know what it was it could be p scarey

    • You (probably) can, you just have to be EXTREMELY careful to approach from the side of the quill, be gentle, stroke with the grain, and do it when he's feeling calm and relaxed (which means he'll have his quills relaxed). I've never pet a prehensile-tailed porcupine, but I have petted a common North American porcupine (which, admittedly, has much finer quills), so it's probably possible if you believe and are VERY careful.

  • He seems so smart. He almost mimics you completely when you say a pronounced word like "banana" or "grape". Animals are a lot smarter than we give them credit for. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it turned out captive animals pay a lot more attention to spoken language than we realize.

    • I'm pretty sure they comprehend human speech but just don't have the vocal chords/mouth shape to respond back in the same way. My cat is an intelligent little fellow and certainly speaks his mind. He tells me off every time I come home from being out somewhere. He also comes when he is called.
