Torches is such a great album
Underrated imo

The entire torches album was that way for me, personally. Now it's one of my favorites.
Agreed. Even after all these years, it remains a defining and iconic album for me.
When I first heard it I went "Wow, this is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life." Most songs get better the more you listen to it.

I’m in LOVE with this album. My brother put me on and I can’t get enough

What I love about Foster The People is that they're not trying to be just another alternative band, they have their own sound and Mark is such a talented singer/songwriter. This band is way too underrated!
underrated ? nigga they were one of the most popular alternative / pop bands a few years ago. where have you been? I'm not saying they're not good, I love them, but I can name a handful of bands that have this same sound
+David Ponce 5 years ago
"Underrated" yeah not the word i would use.
there you go!!!
No, they are underated. If you listen to each song, they put a ton of work into each one. This is a talented group, but unfortunately, they only have one hit song, and it's rarely played on the radio do to it's implications. This is a talented group, and they don't receive much recognition for their work (besides pumped up kicks). That is the definition of underated.
Pumped Up Kicks: "Who are you?" Helena Beat: "I'm you, but better."
Why "you, but better"? They're two very different songs.

I do not know how many times my dad played this song. he is 47 and he never liked new bands , then he knew foster the People when I showed him. he love this song so much, and i will Always remember him when I listen to this; even more now, that he is away . thanks foster. you guys make beautiful things .
Isa Leicam yo can your dad adopt me
Isa Leicam same...my dad is 43 though 😂
I'm your dad's age and my kids introduced me to these guys. We're not as old as you think.
One of the few bands of today that people who grew up in the 90s could appreciate
Yep, I'm a few years older and was just thinking what your dad and others think. I am always intrigued by bands' styles and influence. When I saw live versions of these guys I was like 'whoa, I've not seen that much electronica for over 30 years. Drum machine, beats, multiple keyboards and upbeat tunes (even if darker lyrics) make this group have a somewhat classic and extraordinary beat. Very cool. 10 years later but still consider this worthy modern music.

I am a guy brought up on 70's and 80's rock, but I really like these guys. I lost my mother a month ago and to me it represents keeping going when things are at their worst. It encapsulates her sudden bad turn, her struggle and unexpected death, getting the late night phone call, telling and comforting my kids, the wake, the funeral and all the other arrangements. This encapsulates being completely lost. It was like "sipping poison and having to hold on tight".
Hang in there man ❤

Seriously how did they craft a song so perfect
Skill and talent
Good question. I have heard this song a few times over the years and immediately loved it. I never knew what it was called or who it was by until today. I heard it on the radio at work and Shazam-ed it. I have more respect for Foster the People now, and the song sounds even better hearing it on my home speakers.
Their music is just perfect in general…I was in high school when they started to blow up and I’ll never forget the ride they gave us in the early 2010’s ❤️

"I took a sip of something poison but ill hold on tight" Neat lyrics.
Me and my college buddies would always start our night off with this song and pulling vodka/rum swigs etc haha.
Actually, it's kind of an anti-drugs song (so I've heard) - a critique of bored, idle rich kids - kids of Hollywood celebs, can't ever be as great as Mom & Dad are, so give up, get through the day, get so high, can't even sit in a chair without falling out of it. But hey, hey, it's OK. (I don't know if it's pathetic, or what. Can you deal w/ it? Mom&Dad are high-voltage live-wires w/ tons o' natural talent, and what am I? Chopped beef? A normie raised w/ best-of-the-best world-class everything everywhere? What does that make me? A zero? (Someone called Billy Corgan a zero and he wrote a song about it. Check it.) What do you do, when you got it all and you got nothing?)
*Amen*

I always wonder the same when I hear other good songs. People like to hear popular things and forget to listen to music.
Jonathan Gutierrez I wouldn’t say rock is dying, I’d say we’re entering an age of rap but I guarantee in 10-20 years the populous will change
Because pumped up kicks was their popular song, just like Magic’s song Rude, John Legend’s All of me.
Simple, people nowadays don’t like this kind of music anymore. Rock is dying, sadly. All the people want to listen is bullshit like cardi b, j Balvin, Ozuna, Rosalia and all those shit stuff

Musicians say they make music to help people… this song… I was listening to this song when I was 19, living in Las Vegas by myself, afraid of everything. I was isolated and I never got to pursue what I wanted to there because I was unshakably sick for two months!! I was there to pursue an artistic career of sorts. I was also setting up an art studio and started to have a drinking problem because I was so sick, and I was contemplating suicide and other reckless things. “Yeah, yeah, and it’s okay…. I tie my hands up to a chair so I don’t fall that way” this line has held me down somehow envisioning my hands tied behind me to just SIT DOWN no matter how uncomfortable and miserable I am. It hit my bones. I have PTSD and I don’t live an easy life, and I’m 23 now and I still go back to this line in my head sometimes like it’s magic. So yeah, in case foster the people reads this…. you’ve helped me in the darkest times of my life.
