  • About 10 years ago my childhood friend had gotten so hooked on heroin I had to fully cut ties with him. After 10 years of trying to help him beat his addiction, I just couldn’t anymore. I couldn’t stand it. He called me crying one day, his own father had gotten together with the police department and set him up for a sting after he had overdosed in the shower. His father “ordered a pizza” and sent him outside to meet with the delivery boy, where the cops were waiting. They tased him, tackled him, cuffed him, and he sat in the back of that car bawling that his own father had turned him in. He went to court ordered therapy and drug counseling. He got clean, moved down to where the rehab was and got his license to become a drug and addiction counselor. Also helping veterans get back on their feet and helping them get their disability and retirement benefits approved through the VA as well as their due back pay. Now, that’s not to say he hasn’t had his slip ups. He did slip up once and was immediately caught and served a year in prison. He got lucky. Unfortunately his father passed two months ago, but their relationship was never stronger. When he was in the throes of addiction, he thought it was betrayal. When he got sober, he saw it as the biggest favor anyone has ever done for him.

He was most likely drunk as was said but it is what it is, it's bonkers to talk about setting up a situation where Bam would get into jail for meth... It's like if rehab doesn't work then why would jail. Sure let's stop cold turkey all of the drugs he has been but on and has a problem. Like at this point this crazy intervening is just causing trauma. Let him do what he does with his money, life and house. I feel like everyone should be out of his life including the relatives. He get's sober if he does, if doesn't then he doesn't. It's that simple. You cannot Force sobriety by guantamo baying someone for it. It's even more messed up when talking about setting it up to happen.

I also hope this reply won't trigger any of you, and I want to state that trigger warning beforehand. Your comments made me emotional in a good way, even though I failed and went on what is now a three-day use period. I am functional during, go to work, sleep, eat and process the poison - cocaine and 3mmc and alcohol - and then sober up, feel awful and usually manage to stay sober and clean for a week before I relapse. Been to a couple of meetings, can mostly curtail my abuse to once a week, but felt bad after having recommitted to the program twice already. I even remove the key-chain from my set of keys when I do bumps. I struggle with bipolarity, type II, and ADD, and take meds for the latter. How did you guys get over that first week hiccup? I get so intense and almost hypomanic when I am sober, especially if I quit nicotine too I am working the entire summer but planning on going to do a month or two of rehab. I was clean for almost three months - even cigarettes - last Spring, without NA or AA and just cold-turkeying and my psychiatrist says my addiction is psychological mostly. My client, who employs me, is a dear friend and knows of all of this and is helping me plan my rehab if it is necessary. As fo me. I am in my early thirties, never did drugs because of the bipolarity looming over my family tree, but decided to pursue making art professionally and did not want to be afraid of it anymore, and did my first line aged 28, and hated it. Until 29, where it clicked. Is it me not having reached rockbottom or staying in the same surroundings? Therapy has helped, and I am building up agency and self-confidence through starting to observe everything I do do well. Thank you guys, galls, or other gendered, for replying, it meant the world. I got sentenced to 1 year of probation and 6months of ARD. I didn’t take any of it seriously. I was lost man and so angry. I remember hearing about your sobriety and thinking WHAT A PUSSY he will never make it meanwhile, I was suffering the whole time. I continued to drink and lie through sobriety until one day, a dude came in and told his story so similar to mine and yours. And he brought you up. Then he talked about your recovery and how he grew up watching you and how it helped him. That’s when I started watching your videos and seeing what you do man. It changed my life. I know you’ll probably never read this or ever hear this but you saved me. I’m grateful to be able to laugh and watch you grow. It breaks my heart about bam because he grew up 3 hours from me. My mom and his mom used to hang out. I always looked up to him. But honestly man you’re the one I look up to now! And I hope bam can be where we are. Again I’m Sorry for rambling, I don’t normally do this shit on here. But this hit me. Being 4 years clean having a little girl I’m raising on my own after her mom passed away from drug addiction I feel this every day. Thank you Steve-o for getting clean because every time I see you sober it keeps me clean!!.

He probably had people give him really tough love to push him to the point of HAVING to get clean. What’s he supposed to do? Sit there and say “wow bam haha so funny drugs are bad but whatever have a great life” absolutely not! In order for bam to get his life together, he needs accountability and friends that will give him tough love. As a former addict myself, I know from experience that those are the friends you hate in the moment but love when you look back and realized their tough love and accountability saved your fucking life.

    • Here's the truth: Bam was the spoiled brat a.d.d. kid with the kind of parents that let him get away with anything and bought him anything. This can be seen in his personality even to this day. However.....Bam created CKY in the late 90s. CKY was a national treasure and Bam and crew were household names by the year 2000 among kids 12-25. CKY was everywhere. When Tremaine and Knoxville went to MTV with their Knoxville video, MTV wasn't interested unless CKY and all of it's popularity could be brought on board. Skating had been growing in massive popularity across the US but especially in the midwest in the mid 90s. Today, the crew from Big Brother magazine would love for you all to believe that Big Brother was this big hit in the way that CKY was. It Was Not! In fact, outside of LA virtually no one had heard of Big Brother magazine. So, the CKY crew is brought on board. MTV licenses footage from CKY and CKY2k for Jackass. Go watch the Jackass tv show now on Paramount, or watch the first Jackass movie. Most of the footage is cut and paste right out of CKY or skits from CKY are reshot with the new crew. IE. The Rental Car. Bam was the head writer and creator for Jackass and the licenses purchased by MTV as well as the CKY money not only helped him settle lawsuits over CKY but they made him rich before Jackass ever premiered. When Jonny and Steve-o were driving 10k dollar cars, Bam was showing up in supercars. This created jealousy from the Big Brother crew and caused rifts between the two different crews (Big Brother/CKY) that weren't seen in the public eye. Mostly between Tremaine/Knoxville/Steve-o and Bam/Dico. When Brandon Dicamillo left he said, I refuse to buy Jeff Tremaine another 10 million dollar house. You can see the massive reduction in the thought of the skits just by watching everything before Jackass 4 and Jackass 4 itself. Jackass 4 is 90% penis and butthole jokes. Bam like many of the others was headed down a bad road leading to addiction which clearly went full throttle after the death of one of his best friends. However, this has been exacerbated by the fact that the Big Brother crew continue to be egomaniacal narcissist's who paint a false picture of the truth. They've always been jealous of Bam, never wanted him there in the first place and now Bam has helped give them the ammo to sink him while they all get ahead off what he originally built. They lie about all of it and gaslight him every chance they can get. This is why Bam challenged Knoxville. This is why he continues to spiral. It's not because he's a POS, it's because he's dealing with this reality that none of you know is the truth. Unfortunately, it seems like what Bam really needs, are REAL friends.

As a former addict im SUPER disappointed that your willing to talk shit about your “friend” for podcast views and I can understand that you probably tried some stuff to help but you do not give up on those you love let alone use their downfall for money and ratings… You should be locking him in a house with you and the boys and going through this together. Theirs a reason you never were all over the news for this long. Bam isn’t in his right mind so anything he does to help himself is going to do the opposite and YOU KNOW THIS. Sure addicts stay or get sober when they want to but you DEFINITELY can help him cut back and be a functioning person at the very least until then or atleast stay out of the news. What he has done while binging is nuts but its also not him and you know that too. Bam has always been the nice guy behind his mask. He’s not gunna threaten people’s lives unless hes had no sleep for a week n lots of meth and alcohol so he doesn’t think straight. You shouldn’t be getting updates FROM REDDIT… your supposed to be his day one. If this is how my friends and family acted when I needed to get sober i’d be dead.. STEP UP. Love you guys and sending my best wishes to Bam, just wish you would act like a genuine friend and fellow addict for him and help him.

    • its sad but whats more sad imho is watching steve0 talk about it like this and getting his news from REDDIT insteada being there for Bam when he needs him most and getting him out of the spotlight etc. I wouldn’t even worry about the charge if I was him, those guys literally saved his life. I’d pay a fine for helping get my buddy sober enough to turn himself in and go walk down right with him and pay my fine and his bail. He’s acting like “oh well i told him to stop” is enough.. they didnt give up on him and he shouldn’t on Bam. You don’t see Knoxville trying to scrape up some money by going on podcast or tv to talk about Bam wanting to box him (which probably resulted from Knoxville trying to force him into HELP in the first place, and that’s how you know your starting to break through to them even just a little because theyr angry at themselves not you) he’s actually respecting his privacy and trying his best to help. I’m sure you tried some stuff Steve but please go try harder. Get his parents too. Have him committed! Hell there are MANY more things you can do and using him for views isn’t one. Thats more sad then this whole spiral he’s had.
