  • If Lev Yashín was recognized for his ability to anticipate and cut plays, René Higuita takes that ability to the extreme. He also adds control, ball driving and field vision, he looks like a libero. Higuita was not a clown, he was a professional and he knew what he was doing.

    • I agree with you, he was very confident and he definitely knew what to do on the pitch in certain situations. Even his teammates (Carlos Valderama, an example) acted that was a completely normal thing. That scorpion save will be tattooed in my mind forever.

  • Not many players stand out, and will be remembered, like this guy. I saw the scorpion kick live on TV at Wembley, and the crowd and commentators went nuts, as it was so unbelievable. Right there, he became an absolute legend in England, and still is.

  • Higuita is a legend! Many people remember only his fault at World Cup 1990 or the amazing scorpion defence in 1995, but he was a very good goalkeeper, having great performances, specially at Libertadores 1989 and 1995.

  • In this life, there is a reason for everything. He is a good goal keeper, probably the best. Some see him as an entertainer, because of his tactics(methodology), after watching this, I can truthfully say that he doesn't have the ability to grab the balls accurately, but does better in keeping it away from the post. That is why he plays it away from the danger zone, without trying to grab. He'd be a great striker if you ask me.
