The DJI Air 3 has been out for 3 months which means I have finally had enough time to test it to its limits and create this comprehensive review. Is this the best drone ever made by DJI or is it confused as to where it should be in the DJI lineup? In this video I will review everything about the drone including the cameras, battery, build, features and accessories. I will also compare it to the DJI Mini 3 Pro, DJI Mini 4 Pro and DJI Mavic 3 Series.

Great review on the Air 3! I bought the Air 3 about 3 months ago to replace my old Mavic Pro and I have been very satisfied with it. My favorite feature by far is the Hyperlapse using waypoints.

@@LukeMaximoBell1 I do not see those settings or a way to access the sharpness or noise reduction as you did. I do not see a "style" dropdown. Just goes from white balance to storage?

I thought that might be it after you mentioned it. But I just did the update and still not there. I’ll have to try and locate where that is located now if at all.
@@LukeMaximoBell1 An update; I updated the firmware. Still did not see the "style" dropdown as in your clip. I went over the menu in various places turning things on and off to see if another menu selection was prohibiting it from showing up. Could not find anything that revealed that menu. I called DJI hotline, spoke to a technician. He had me reset the camera settings then finally reset all settings in an attempt to correct it without any luck. He escalated it to their hardware team and stated they would be in touch with me and they would request a video of me proceeding through the settings to validate this. I can let you know the outcome. Not sure if they can reset the parameters or software remotely or I will have to send it in for replacement. I'm wondering if this is an early version before that was added maybe...not sure. Obtained this from B&H Photo, would think they sell quite a few of these. Very strange.

First time stumbling across your channel Luke - I have just oredered the Air 3 to replace my regulation forced out Mavic 2 Pro. And holy moly thank you so much for your time and effort making this.. awesome thorough review, coupled with stunning footage. That is the first time I've seen the Air 3 footage full res and wow it looks damn good. Dare I say it I actually wonder if it could be a cleaner image that the Mavic 2 Pro? I was expecting worse with the smaller sensor. Out of interest are you just shooting in D-Log M and applying DJI's 709 LUT ? I now feel even more excited about the Air, and with it's 3 x second lens. And thanks to your tip- I have just ordered the split Freewell ND's and will be returning the DJI ones without having opened them! Thanks again!

I currently fly Mavic Pro 2 and have been satisfied with results over the years I've had it. However, I've been considering upgrading and intrigued by the Mavic Air 3 with two lenses and being able to shoot slow motion, which as become very popular with video production. Is there any significant difference in image quality not having the Hasselblad lens? I gather the lens on the Air 3 is better that previous drones. Is the worth the jump from the Pro 2 to the Pro 3. Your video was great, informative and beautifully shot. Thanks!
Man! That Air 3 looks "damn good!" My biggest fear is that the same will happen to me as before! I purchased the Air 2 and less than 8 months later, the Air 3s came out which was so much better!!! I was so jealous! The price was almost the same as the Air 2 which is what made it worse!! Oh well, we will wait and see what DJI does first within the year with this fabulous Air 3! Thanks for sharing.
I feel that lol but the air 3 is still gonna be a great option even a couple years down the road. With 4k60fpshdr and 360 sensors, the new transmission and great wind resistance it’s hard to beat!
I had the same thing happen, when I bought my AIR 2s & Mini 3 Pro, in January 2023, 6 months later the AIR 3 was released, & a few months after the Mini 4 Pro was released. I finally bit the bullet, & bought both the AIR 3, Mini 4 Pro & the Integra goggles Motion 2 Combo, a few weeks ago. I was going to sell my Mini 3 Pro and AIR 2s to offset some of the cost, but my wife is showing an interest in drones, so I gave her my Mini 3 Pro. I haven't flown either yet, until I get another paycheck, to purchase 2 year Care Refresh Plans, for both of them. It's been a real test of will, to not fly them lol.
Just do like I do. I sell the previous instantly add a few hundred and repeat every 2 years. Buy refurbished. I got a air 3 for 200 bucks that's the whole fly more kit and the rc2. Shop around trade
I started with a Mini 3, then stepped up to the Air 3 as that natural progression/all-rounder. I had the benefit of having a few flights of a Mavic 2 Pro through work, and whilst it was a fantastic drone, it made me pragmatically think about the cost/value equation... the Air 3 is an absolute slam dunk in that department. If you are not looking for the creme-de-la-creme, then the choice is obvious.
I agree in every part of your video. Cheers from Denmark! Ive been using the Mavic Air, Air 2 and now Air3. Didnt buy the A2S, so going from the Air 2 to the Air 3 was a nice upgrade. I really like that DJI gives nice new features with their firmware updates (compared to Sony (I shoot on the FX3 and A7CII) :D

Luke do you use color finale in final cut pro? How can I color grade footage like this in final cut? Out of all the videos I've watched on the air 3, your footage is the best.
I wanted to buy the Air 3, but seeing how good it is I will definitely wait for the Air3S. Hanging on to the Air2S for now.
Air 2s is a really good drone. You could definitely hold on to it until the Air 3s or 4 🙌🏼

Great video, man. Although I would never consider any camera with a fixed aperture to be associated with a “best ever” category. Handheld or flying.
Fair enough, but it’s about compromise. Smaller lighter and cheaper drone instead of variable aperture. What I will comment about that is that for drone shots it matters WAY less to get the 180 degree shutter rule right. As you can see from a lot of my screen recordings I run these cameras on auto shutter often and I’m sure you will agree my footage isn’t bad 😂

Best Review for Air 3. I think it would have been better if the 1 inch lens of Air 2s was the main camera of Air 3.

Nice! I always shoot in D-Log M with this guy. Then I use the lut provide by DJI

I often read about the "not so good" main camera for stills. I mostly do photography, so what do you think about the stills quality comparing againt for example a air 2s ?

Yes if you are in spotlight mode and you’ve selected your subject you can move one of the sticks with one hand.
The air 3 is so good that I can’t imagine how much better the next generation will be, if it can.
So true 😂 there’s not really much more we need. But we know they will always add things like better range and better battery life. What I would like from the Air 4 would be to have both cameras have adjustable apertures. That would be next level 🙌🏼
Is this DJI Air 3 programmable? I want to use it for a project but I haven't found the specs that address programmability.
No it’s not programmable
This is the first video I've seen of the Air 3 with fantastic color grade. All the others I've seen has either been over done, or shows that awful magenta fringe.
This was the last nail in the coffin for me. I'm definitely getting the Air 3 over the mini 4. Just wish they would sell Air 3 plus RC2 (like they do with the mini ). I don't need the extra batteries, but I guess I will still have to pay for the bundle ;(

Have a question, be honest people. Stills on Air 3 compared to Mavic 2 pro are trash? will lose a lot of details and quality with the smaller sensor?

Mavic 3 pro has a main camera with a bigger sensor, variable aperture and higher resolution videos. It also has a 3rd 7x tele camera. Otherwise the specs are pretty similar other than the Mavic being larger and heavier
Thr 12 megapixels looks better because it's pixel binning the 48 into 12. Bigger pixels let in more light. But you lose some detail you'd get from the native 48 megapixels
Juss done a bunch of research.. its not pixel binning.. its 12mp native.. it pixel shifts / composites several images to get 48mp.. just like Panasonic hi-res..
Thank you Luke for an amazing review, I am pretty much sold for this drone. One thing about your review though - you should be careful with the footage you show in your videos. Those Italian Dolomites shots are insanely beautiful however in almost all European countries it's strictly forbidden to fly drones in national parks without a permission from the authorities. Of course, this is different from country to country and there are many types of national parks but general rules are pretty much the same everywhere. Also, most of these "hobby" drones are not allowed to fly higher than 120 meters from the take-off point and it looks like some of your shots were higher than that. I think you should make a video about this cause it's a little misleading. Many people will buy it just to take the same shots as you. Besides that, amazing job on the review.

The one thing missing for me that would make this the absolute best is variable aperture, but I suspect it will never get it as this would kill Mavic 3 sales.
Totally agree. Also, this takes up a lot more room within the lens. So I’m not sure it would have been physically possible. Or if they had done that then the widest aperture would be lower because the Len’s elements would need to be smaller overall.

How in the hell could this be "DJI's worst drone ever"? Is not even possible for this to be "worse" than the original Air or the Mavic Pro. Does anyone think it's likely this drone is "worse" than the Spark or Phantom 2 SE? Maybe it's "worse" than the first Phantom that didn't even have an integrated camera or gimbal? Sure, that's possible... Now is it "DJI's best drone ever?" Also nope. The Mavic 3 series and arguably, the Mavic 2 Pro are better drones. There's also a case to be made for the Phantom 4 Pro V2. All three of these drones have better cameras. The Mavic 3 Pro has far and away a better camera setup. It's not even close. Not to mention the Inspire 2 and 3... What a ridiculous title.

You obviously can like it the most, although I see no evidence that you own all of DJI's drones, so i'm not sure you're qualified to determine which is the best or worse.

In virtually every category, it is the absolute best folding drone on the market from any manufacturer. The Air 3 beats it in inconsequential ways but not in the most important criteria. It's not an opinion, it's objective fact. If your title were, "DJI Air 3- 3 Month Review- Why I Like it Better than all Other DJI Drones", it would make sense. Let's say I made a similar video, "2023 BMW 330i Sedan, 3 Month Review- BMWs Best Car Ever!!!" Really?
The photos on air 3 unfortunately are just ok. And there are issues with the focus... it would be nice that you could have done a real review instead of just spreading fomo.
