It is literally insane seeing Shibata in the ring again in 2024. I remember the headbutt like it was yesterday. He hasn't aged at all.
He really hasn't. He looks exactly the same. Maybe even better.
Even more amazing that he recovered from having his brain removed.
A part of his brain was removed, I hear he's partially blind from one eye, and he performs like he was prime Shibata.
He should of stayed retired, he doesnt sell moves and he doesnt know how to get people over, this match was supposed to get will over, shibata is a jobber in this company and he just made ospreay look like an idiot, the guy sells literally nothing
That day made me so sad. Now he is on the best roster in wrestling on weekly TV.

@@adamandanna honestly idk if that's just Shibata's style 🤷🏻♂️ tbh NJPW is one promotion I don't watch a whole lot of so I don't know much about his career or former matches but it does seem that a lot of the well known/long term Japanese wrestlers have no selling incorporated onto their style. I mean Minoru Suzuki no sells a lot 🤷🏻♂️

Only watched a handful of Shibata matches but incredible wrestler. Hopefully he gets some sort of AEW gold soon maybe the International Championship??

I'm glad that Ospreay didn't hit Shibata with a Tiger Driver '91, but with a Tiger Driver '98 instead. You don't want to drop that man on his head after what he had to recover from.
No heat because no buildup. This match deserved time, build-up, and a good story. Instead, you get a random "memberberry" match with zero story. This deserved better.
Shibata has been one of the best in the business for a long time. Ospreay is the best performer today.

Batista sells lol. That is the key point here. He has no problem putting over anyone. MVP revealed this when he said Vince wanted Batista to dominate and no sell and lose by count out and Batista wanted a cleaner finish. He understands the business.

Love story the told I'm that last 5 seconds, Shibata sat up like he wanted to go for strike battle with Will but he just instead hit him with the hidden blade. If it were Danielson he would've accepted his challenge. Great match 🤌🏽🔥
