Today on Homeworthy, one of our favorite hosts, designer Alex Papachristidis, pays a visit to his friend, Elizabeth Pyne Singer, on the Upper East Side of New York. Design runs deep in Elizabeth's family--three generations of women---Elizabeth, her mother and her late grandmother have all worked and helped to shape the revered decorating firm, McMillen Inc., now celebrating its 100th year in business. Today we're touring Elizabeth's stunning apartment which required two years of gut renovations. Now it's a collected jewel box perfect for her young family of four.
There is something engaging about having Alex on these home tours. He is a sweet man.
Keep more Alex interviews coming! He is so fun and gracious!!!!
Alex is such a wonderful host......I believe he could make each of us feel special in our own unique circumstances.
Totally agree. I love the interchange between interviewer and interviewee. More Alex please!!
“So pretty” in Alex’s voice 😂. Alex the re-directing expert. Full disclosure, a presenter doing a tour of a friend’s house …the love is real ..”you’re always chic and divine..you always look so beautiful “ Alex says…down to the body language between them ❤
These two are Fabulous! What a stylish apartment. I felt like an Insider listening to these two real-life Friends chat and name varying artists and designers. 🖼️ ALEX is my favorite!
Alex is the best host in a tour. So fun and knowledgeable!
I LOVE our precious ALEX….I want him to be my BEST FRIEND…..he just makes life better!!!!! Hugs carolyn from Columbus Georgia
Charming young woman, lovely home!
I love when Alex hosts tours with friends. He seems like such a sweet friend and knows how to bring out the best in people. The apartment was beautiful, I especially loved the gorgeous wallpaper in the bedroom. Clementine was such a cutie. I did not mind the barking, because that is just life! 💗
WOW! Her mother's a BEAST! Those are the best ones. They don't make em the way they used to. She was brought up properly 💯. Take a bow 👏 on that home 🏡 young lady! SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL 😍
This is one of my favorite episodes. There is a genuine friendship between Elizabeth and Alex, and I love the fact that her home is not large with respect to square footage. It is very homey.
I love Alex as a presenter! He gently guides back to topic. There was a few times when she was going on a tangent about her mother (therapy anyone, lol) and he comes to the rescue keeping it about the home.
I noticed that too. Sadly, this woman's mother is super controlling and she is doing that to her own daughter. She said she has tried to throw out her own daughter's creations, just like her mother wrestles with her over what she places in her space. She will likely ship her own kids off to boarding school when they get too old to share a bedroom.
Alex, what a gem you're! A truly generous & loving human being!! ❤❤❤ #FRIENDWORTHY!
Princess Pyne !!!!! I met her in Far Hills many years ago. What a personality!
Alex always the best.. please more episode with him
Elizabeth has such an interesting legacy one can understand how her wonderful style developed. Wonderfully cheery space!
Elizabeth's home is so amazing. I love her unique and creative styling. ❤
She is elegant and adorable---what a lovely home----would like to see her and her mom together---the mom sounds like a hoot😊😊😊
This was definitely a divine treat! I loved every word and really enjoyed Elizabeth's narrative - especially the family "discussions" - took me back to my mother objecting to my toilet paper being over rather than under - ha! Mothers and daughters! Of course, I can never get enough of Alex! I truly left my home and was with you both on this stand-out Homeworthy! Thank you so much 😊
Very nice apartment... good to see Alex as always.
what a nice unassuming woman with a great sense of humor and Alex is a hoot! he reminds me of Martin Shorts' character Jiminy Glick
Yes, he is Jiminy Glick! (Which is a compliment!)
I meant it a compliment also!
I ❤ Alex!!! Great hosting Mr P! 👏👏👏👏
Very friendly home. Mr. Papachristidis is a wonderful presenter.
Love this family’s apartment. Super love the little bathroom. So cute! I love it when Homeworthy brings Alex along.
more tours with Alex please!
What lovely manners Elizabeth has. Not full of herself.
Just gorgeous interior design.
Oh my goodness - this is the best video EVER !! The knowledge , the history , the style, the absolute NICENESS of this woman 👏👏👏👏👏
What a friendly comfortable apartment! Love it!
A very beautiful and curated home. Alex is a great addition to this series.
Great tour. You guys should do more together. So inspiring, it’s one to watch again and again.❤️
What a talented visionary designer🎉
Elizabeth's use of patterns and colours - the artwork, rugs, wallpaper, fabrics . . . Oh my! Stunning AND complimentary. Fond memories and stories connected to objects keep it from being just a "showhouse". Her home is beautiful!
What a lovely host! The apartment is gorgeous, and very expensively decorated. One lucky family!
What a stunning apartment with wonderful collections. Always fun to see two good friends talking about interiors. Thank you so much for sharing.
OMG OMG OMG I am so excited to see this! Alex Papachristidis is my favorite interior designer in the entire universe! Cannot get enough! Kudos to you for this video! More, please!
Beautiful home.❤
Lovely apartment. Alex is a brilliant presenter. Thank you for the video!
Please keep Alex! He’s wonderful! This was such a nice home tour. Awww and the doggy! Thank you for sharing!
Your place is outstanding. I’m sure you’re overstating the “fights” with your mom. You make a great design team!
🏆👏🏻yay Alex! 💪🏼❤️Mr P is genuinely engaged that the homeowners truly beam and shine showing us their abodes! Thanks for such a good one.. too short but so filling!! 👍🏻🐐
Enjoyed this very much. She is so down to earth and lovely. Her home is amazing and so well executed. One of my favorite tours yet!
Fascinating video lots of ideal composition
❤❤❤Elizabeth is so charming. ❤❤❤
Beautiful, thank you!
Alex is sweet and knowledgeable and a skilled host. I've enjoyed both episodes I've seen with him.
Just finished watching Capote vs the swans and these two are reminiscent in a little way of
And that’s intentional.
Great decorating!
I always learn about new design ideas and even artists when watching Homeworthy and this video was no different! Loved hearing about Paul Maze- ordered the book and you gave me the courage to put my idea into reality with a dining room converted into a den/office/library. Thank you!
Love these episodes with Alex! More please! Thank you!
She is obviously pedigreed but oh so classy…you lose count of the times she says “thank you” - it may seem trite but it adds to the beauty of the home and experience.
Alex, the quintessential New Yorker. 🤌🏽✨
What a beautiful apartment. I love the mixing and mashing of colors and styles. Elizabeth does know style and beauty. Such talent obviously runs in the family.
This is a wonderful apartment and Alex is great as a host. Elizabeth is lovely and a very talented decorator.
Love love love Alex😍🥰😘
Great tour. Oh how I love prewar apartments designs in my New York City. I can only dream of . Thank you for your educational design skills.🙏
All you hear that cutie pie barkin he wants tobe in the tour🤣🐶🤣
Yes another small chirpy dog. So annoying‼️💯💯💯💯 I had to mute the video when it started barking 👎👎👎👎
I love the stories with the piece …so good!
This apt. blows me away. The colors and mix of styles are just perfect. Everything is so well thought out, beautiful but not stuff! ❤
Alex Papachristidis is a treasurre! More, please:) What a fantastic apartment!
Alex is a sweetheart and Elizabeth is so gracious .
He's a wonderful and all, but I like the old format better. I love when the person who created the space just goes on a whim. It feels so authentic
Lovely home
Love this series with Alex❤
Well that was delightful and fun!! Beautiful apartment and two very fun friends
More tours with Alex please! Beautifully designed apartment.
Such a lovely apartment. I can't get the wallpaper in the foyer out of my head. Always come away with a wish list after watching one of your shows!
I love these two together very engaging! I love Clementine. She looks like a combination Cairn terrier and yorkie/ mini schnauzer mix.
perfect
More Alex, please!
Forever Alex! He is the best!
Alex participating in the video is great. Interesting wallpaper. Why is the little dog barking?
Beautiful appartment. Feels like a city house. Alex is a great host!
Love Alex! Great tour!
I love it…I know it’s perfection as it stands but I felt like those windows needed an added layer of sheer curtains or low percentage openness shades to stop the glare. They really soften the hard city light.
Yasou Alex!!!!
Her mom: Picture of me surfing, and two regular shmegular pictures of father and brother lol
lol, that cv2 bookcase looks like kallax from ikea on legs. WIth thinner frame.
I have an original Everette James!!!!
Dunbar is incredible!
Do all rich people name drop constantly?
Someone really has “mommy issues”. If I were a lady with class, I would NEVER speak so disrespectful about your own mother who has graciously given you so many items in your apartment. You literally cannot even realize that you come across as a whiny little baby, who plays the victim-card. Shame on you for speaking so unkind about your own mother. Just because she doesn’t like the same type of interior design as you do, doesn’t give you the right to say so many unkind comments about your mom not liking the way you decorated your own apartment. I really enjoyed Alex, this host was so sweet and authentic in his interview skills. He really knows how to keep the owner on track, without using rude comments. He is very knowledgeable about the antique and vintage hand-me downs that she is so privileged to have in her apartment. Please don’t pick owners like her. She is so nervous and really cares way too much in her mom’s opinion about her choices. Here’s some practical advice to the homeowner, 🎵”Let it go”🎵
Alex, my Greek grandmother said, " Using a placemat over a table cloth is like a man wearing braces with a belt."
Or a table groaning with the weight of a banquet
Mother told me of an article written in a 1950's ladies magazine . Mamie Eisenhower recalled with great embarrassment that as a young bride she gave a dinner party and used every single piece of her wedding sterling tableware. The other guests were appalled by her nouveau ostentation. She never forgot the embarrassment, or made the same mistake again. Choose carefully!
Alex needs to stop grabbing that poor woman. lol.
Exactly ‼️💯💯💯 I like when The home owner does the tour. Without ummmmms ‼️💯💯💯
Funny
Mr. P is very smooth, how he guides the conversation. She's nice and I like her mom too. 😂 The anecdotes are great, Alex doesn't notice them though. Very interesting. 😎
They’re friends, in case you missed that part…they’ve known one another via the New York design world for years. I seriously doubt Alex would be overly familiar with someone he just met.
@@jenniferlynn3537yeah, you can tell he knows exactly what each item is from and the history behind each item. I think he did a great job when dealing with someone that comes across as a whiny, privileged person who has major “mom” issues. I hope she finds her way, and grows up. She deserves to live the way she chooses without so much hatred from her mom’s negativity. Maybe after her mom watched this video, they will be able to get some therapy and learn to navigate their own worlds without hurting one another.
I do not like when someone is there with the host talking. If I wanted to watch such a show I'll watch quintessence show. I want the host and the host only to speak and that's what sets you apart from the rest of the home shows
He's a sweetheart but she can barely get a word in. LOL.
Love watching these videos w the homeowners having such compassion for decoration but this home is a disaster and that little pup should be sleeping w his owners❤️
Lovely apt-but yapping dog ruined this video for me. She seems rich enough to have a professional take her dog off her hands for a few hours while filming?
IMO the dog makes this stylish place real and approachable. Either you're doggie or you're not!
Dog people unite, lol -- what a cute lil nugget 😂😂 @@susanseverance9683
@@susanseverance9683💯 😂😂🎉🎉
