  • Great video as usual. You can get some rubber MC4 caps to seal the unused cable ends bit better than PVC tape, but you need to remember to have a set with you. I found cutting with water feed on a big angle grinder is faster and no dust, but probably too messy for use up on the scaffolding. There was no mention of spacing between the rails running up the roof to match the mounting positions on the panels - not sure how critical this is for snow and wind loading on the panels. I was thinking it might be worth looking at 2 different styles of hooks to get a better spacing of rails.

  • hmm i don´t quite get whats the point in using optimizers on all panels on such an installation, as far as i have understood these mainly optimize panels in a string that have shadow on them and would "pull" all of them down perfomance wise, or if the string in like on south and east side of an roof, but as it is here, all same orientation and no shadows from trees (as far as i could tell from watching) in my opinion they are not needed and just add to the cost or are there any other benfits you have using these. All of the solar systems i have mounted here in germany i never used them and only herad of using them if you have spots on the panels where are shadows casts

    @TheFlow2006@TheFlow20065 ай бұрын
    • Well, half of one string is on the garage, and the rest on the main roof, so you would need them for that. And by the time you've done that then you might as well fit for all panels.

      @mudmucks@mudmucks5 ай бұрын
    • @@mudmucks yeah but wouldn´t you put the garage on its own string and on its on tracker on the inverter? if they would only cost like 10€ i would say who cares but i think they cost more than that and that adds up thats why i asked if there are other benefits for using them

      @TheFlow2006@TheFlow20065 ай бұрын
    • Agreed, no idea why they mixed it up like that. Maybe there is a maximum capacity per string, so couldn't put all the main building panels on one string, so had to put some of them with the garage panels. But still seems a bit of a mish-mash ☺️

  • Couple of constructive criticism. 1. Don't tape up the MC4 ends, use the proper end caps. 2. Ban your guys from using impact drivers, for clamps, again use the proper tool ie a torque wrench. 3. The cable managment under the panels was none existent, tie the excess to the frame

    @andrevandie@andrevandie5 ай бұрын
    • Yes, you are right

      @artisanelectrics@artisanelectrics5 ай бұрын
    • Not always. Wear a hard hat when there is a risk of something hitting your head or your head hitting something. No need to wear a hard hat when working at the top of scaffold as there is nothing above you and a a hard hat isn’t going to protect your head in a fall, they’re not designed for that.

  • is there any reason you can't fix the hooks to the roof beams in the centre of the hooks, as opposed to one end...!! And why are these 'hooks' designed this way, surely the design should flip the fixing point 90 degrees so it can be better fixed to the roof timbers...!!!
