  • Hey Shawn, just wanna say your channel and insights are awesome and I wish this was around when I was in High School, I didn't really have a coach and taught myself from youtube videos and personal experiments. I finally had a coach for the last half of my junior season and my senior season and qualified for state meet (no heighted there tho) If your channel was around back then I would've progressed so much better.

  • Our PVAB just arrived and our school vaulters were begging for me to try it out immediately. So excited to see this translate into improved vertical and PRs.

  • I invented the same thing while coaching at Tufts in 1980, than improved it with bungee and piece of real pole, this is what I suggested to you as one of the things you should start doing plus tips and tricks for pole vaulters. What about using cut aluminum can taped on to protect pole from box damage.

  • my coach uses an ankle brace hung by a pulley and a sections of an actual pole to grab at the other end of the rope to pull yourself up

    • I've used that device too! It's a completely different device and and works different muscles but they both serve a purpose for different parts of the vault. In the phases of the event id put the angle bar first (Turn and invert) then the pulley device next on the list to help with the pull though and turn.

  • I have a question, a common problem I have when trying to invert is that my left hand stays stiff and I can’t bring myself to bend it so that I can get my shoulders back and invert. Any tips?

    • Try pushing it out to twords the left standard a little bit to turn the pole into a high bar!

  • What do you recommend for a height to attach this product to?

    @JPsBricks@JPsBricks Жыл бұрын
    • It doesn't need to be that high. As little as 6 to 7 feet will work. You just want to be able to get upside down without your head hitting the ground

  • So I am a middle schooler and the high school coach moved me to high school. I have so much pressure because he could move me back down if I do one thing wrong. Today was probably the worst day of practice because I wasn’t doing it right my coach told me to go to the middle schoolers. I put so much pressure on myself because for me pole vault is my whole ego. The boys at my school hate me and if I got kicked down I would never hear the end of it. Please help me figure out what to do because I don’t think I can keep trying to pretend to try. I need help or I might quit pretty soon

    • Katie, you're awesome no matter what! The fact you're in middle school pole vaulting is cool. The fact you're in middle school with the ability to jump with high schoolers is insane! Just remember, pole vault is just something you do, it's not who you are. Try to learn from those tough days, thays where the most growth comes from. You're freaking awesome to me!

  • My son just started pole vaulting. Our school just purchased poles that are way too heavy for him to bend. He is closer to a 120 pole but they bought 130 & 145 poles (last year not knowing how to size them). Does anyone know where I can get affordable poles? He really enjoys this sport and our school is in rural SC and they are unable to purchase any more. Aside of fund raisers anyone have any programs or knowledge of where we can get poles more affordably? We borrowed a 130 before we got poles purchased. Long story short we had to return them to the university our coach went to. Looking for options, I am unable to purchase a $400+ pole or I would do so myself. I hate asking this but I am really wanting to help my son & the other young man who tried pole vaulting this year. (My son could have won regionals and he just started 5 weeks prior with a heavy pole! ) We need a pit, a bar that can go higher than 8ft. So we are going to have to fund raise and as we all know it's expensive. .any help or ideas we greatly appreciate. The track/ XC/ running communities are really incredible and I appreciate any ideas or direction.

    • I'd recommend continuing to rent poles. The idea here is if you buy a pole that works perfect for your son, I'd bet good money that he'll grow (get taller, faster, stranger) and improve technique so quick that that new $500 pole will be too small for him and then turn into a dust collector. On the other hand, rent poles for the same price you could rent a line of poles that will help him progress In a more productive manner. If you're trying to grow a pole vault pole line, that's a different conversation and i'd start with this video to help you iron out what pole you have, what poles you need, and where to go from there. kzhead.info/sun/iaqDnrCFmZmPZKc/bejne.html I hope this helps!
