But did you know that some mk6 1.4 tsi had a turbo and a supercharger (making it faster than the mk7 tsi) I had the max spec one which was 180bhp, although it had gearbox problems, value problems, hell the engine was replaced too! It was and still is a very fun car to drive, I think it also had a stage 2 tune done to it, it was literally a seat cupra in the shape of a vw. You’d get an adrenaline rush every time you’d floor it.

Everyone comments on how nice it looks, but i didnt buy it for other people, i bought it for me and am i happy! There a few things wrong with it though but i can live with it (the car is awesome in all other areas) 1. The brakes are super sensitive, too sensitive at low speeds / traffic. Ive seen quite a few other people complain about this also, its very hard to always come to smooth stop without a jerk forward from momentum. 2. the engine bay heats up the cabin air intake. i.e. outside ambient air temp is 19c, climate temp control set to lowest (aircon off). Drive around and air coming in is heated to ~28c. Thats just plain wrong. No other car ive ever had in my decades of driving has done this. You shouldnt have to use aircon all the time.

  • This trend of making all buttons into cheap lcd touch screens is so god damn annoying and dissapointing. LCD screens in cars age far worse than any button, making them look old and obsolete quickly. What happened to well designed physical buttons with that "ahh feels good" fellling when you hear them click or rotate.

    @timotej292@timotej2924 жыл бұрын

      @sebastien4565@sebastien45654 жыл бұрын
    • Inverse is true. If the manufacturer can be bothered they can update it as time goes on and make it better. I'd rather it was android but what the hey. I can show you cars from 5 years ago without LCDs where the controls look all kinds of outdated, don't think that's a valid argument. Strong argument for is it's less mechanical crap to go wrong. It's also, yes, cheaper. What I suspect will actually happen is you'll end up with a cottage industry of people writing new OS' for it and coming up with ways to reskin..

      @streaky81@streaky814 жыл бұрын
    • @@streaky81 For my tase most of the time the car had a poor interior design, it had a bunch of screens. And they always came with a sloppy designed operating system. Of course it's cost savings. Companies are getting really good at optimising their processes - using screens, same technolgy, design, chassis for different car models, sharing what works between brands (škoda, vw, seat ...). It's become something of an art form, how to squeeze as much profit out of an existing product as possible, finding out what people dont care about, so you can replace it with a cheaper material. One example I can think of is fiat and jeep, both owned by the same company. If you look in the interior of both cars they straight up look the same. So it makes no difference if you buy a 40 000 jeep or a 15 000 fiat, you get the same shitty lcd design and copy pasted interior look. To be fair though fiat tipo has a nice combination of buttons and a screen in the center console. Making an elegant design combining both physical buttons and lcd screen would not be much more expensive. As we established though, why would they bother, lcd is cheaper and faster. And to top it all off, craming all this electronics in the car is making them more complicated to fix and preventing owners from doing their own repair.

  • Like all screen-based control systems, you can't adjust anything without taking your eyes off the road to do intricate actions that require visually selecting between widgets and hand-eye coordination to make precise contact with the screen. Back in the old days, every car control could be handled by groping for it and recognising it by its shape, while keeping one's eyes on the road. Just as using mobile phones while driving is illegal in the UK, use of touch-screens needs to be regulated too, and car companies producing cars depending on these screens need to re-think how they work.
