And to all non-Catholics, I would like to explain that this is not an "idol" and we do not worship it, we just enjoy showing our love and respect to Mary, just as the Angel Gabriel did (Luke 1:28) "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women". However, we do not look upon her as our "Saviour", of course, that is reserved for her son Jesus. But since the Angel Gabriel himself showed love and respect for Mary, I would say that it is probably wise to follow his example !!!

I don't understand how the statue remained undamaged by the sea. It's magnificent! The reverence the divers demonstrated was heartwarming. Unfortunately, I didn't see the statue come to life as depicted in the caption. I wish there could be a way to resurrect her from her watery grave.
It was recently put there which is why there is air escaping from the statue.

For those who say that the statues we Catholics have in our churches, homes are idols, you are just ignorant of the facts. They are reminders, plain and simple. They are just in 3D. Do you not have pictures of family and friends in your home. Have you never looked at the picture of someone deceased who you were very close to and spoken out loud to them? I have often. When I miss my Mother I look at her picture and tell her how much I love her and miss her. That's all our statues are, reminders. How many churches have a 3D piece of art of the crucified Christ in front behind the altar? Are the congregations praying to the piece of art? Of course not! So don't assume we worship our pieces of art.

The statue was placed here to stop dynamite fishing on the reef in Bohol. It worked! The locals know the statue is there and no longer fish with dynamite since the statue was placed there. We are happy that they put this here to STOP dynamite fishing here that was destroying the Reef.
