Top 10 Space Simulation Games to Play in Virtual Reality!
Elite is a gem of an VR game especially with HOTAS - Its absolutely insane. Yes it doesnt feature everything in VR (ground missions) but the space ship side of the game (What it was built upon, ground was added because player wanted it [And they failed]) is absolutely stunning in my opinion. Elite is and will always be my go to if I want space in VR. I hope X4 eventually gets a rework and maybe even VR addition - I tried X4 and was interested in it until I found out that its more of a Map based game if you want to make profit and there are no real missions.
Also try Subnautica, and Everspace 1 both very good in VR
What an awesome list of great games. I also agree that X Rebirth in VR is impressive when you get into it! the size of the space stations is immense. But Elite is on its own level in VR.
Elite has been a pleasure! X Rebirth VR really surprised me though!
@@LTGamingKZhead Funny how X-Rebirth is consider the worst entry of the X-series. I personally only played X4 and i instantly fall in love with it.
Frankly, to me ED sucks, to be trully immersive ED should have ship interiors like X4 or Star Citizen.
Great vid. I honestly hope this pulls Elite up a bit. The first time I fired up Elite on my big screen with headphones on was a memorable moment in my gaming history. The crackling sound of space with the sounds of engines/instruments blew me away. Stayed up all night. Glad it got more than a honorable mention.
I was the same again last week when I tested it again in VR 🚀🚀
These look immense I may have to get a VR headset now bro!
I got a Meta Quest 3 just for productivity. Was cheaper and takes less space than real multiple monitors.
Glad to see the VR games getting better! Appreciate you LT ^-^
Thanks man! Wanted to try and give as much personal experience as I can with this one :)
Evochron Legacy SE.... VR or not it's a great Game....
I liked your article, those vr games would definately be in my library. Sadly only two were found for the Oculus (meta) quest2 and 3. Star trek bridge commander, which I immediately bought, and Battle Group VR. None of the others you reviewed are available for that platform. Which really sucks, because i liked them all.
X rebirth - totally agree with your comments - I did get motion sick when moving around space stations
Yeah that was bad but think they changed it!
Two I'll add: Arvoch Alliance (basically a combat-focused version of Evochron from the same developer, not sold on Steam), and X Wing Alliance with the XWAUP and VR mods. Personally SW Squadrons didn't work for me in VR; there are major bugs with the VR implementation in WMR headsets that EA never bothered to address.
I have spoken to the Developer about Arvoch Alliance so I might pick up a copy :) Didn't know about the X Wing Alliance Mod!
@@LTGamingKZhead IMO Arvoch Alliance is the best 6DoF space sim ever made. Gameplay is insanely well done.
Now I'm gonna go get it :) Thanks for the suggestion@@kalnaren
And not just that X-Wing, also a TIE Fighter - kzhead.info/sun/ZN19ks5vfmqLY68/bejne.html
@@sixtheninth Came here to talk about the TIE fighter mod. Glad you brought it up
I also suffer from motion sickness, which is why I haven not taken the leap and purchased a VR headset. I do however really want to play games like Elite in VR
Thank you for this list - there were even a couple I had never heard of - and I love VR in space! I have recently been playing From Other Suns which is close to FTL in VR (Not a sim, but very intense and you lose a lot) Also really enjoy Space Pirates and Zombies 2 - looks amazing (especially in VR) although it plays better on flat screen. And for a Quest Space sim - there is Vendetta Online - not the deepest or best, but you don't need a PC I would love if you did a more expansive list of VR Space games - I wonder what else I might find!
Pulsar lost colony, its basicly Star Trek Bridge crew but with away missions
Actually a very good callout! ⭐️
Great list! Long time VR user so this is super useful! BTW, last month's results from a Japanese study on VR, said that 120Hz is the key to reducing motion sickness. Oh and the fan blowing cool air on your face trick has been my go to solution for avoiding motion sickness when flying in helicopters for years now.
120hz really helps!
I love space sims and have always wished I could enjoy VR, sadly I get so incredibly sick. I've tried a few times in some great beginner VR games but every time within a few minutes I've got a massive headache and feel like I'll get sick. Even watching VR games on PC is hard for me. Which sucks because some of these look amazing, especially the ones where you control capital ships!
I suffer from it quite badly too but have got used top it a little more now. The fan method works well for me! Its a very immersive way to play :)
@@LTGamingKZhead I'll try that if I ever get the chance to try VR again. Elite Dangerous is THE game I want to try. I'm with you on it, there's something about it that never really drew me into the game like X4 for instance. But imagning VR, being in the cockpit, doing interstellar deliveries does make me a bit gitty. Does the Odyssey expansion work in VR or are you stuck in the cockpit?
I used ginger candy to help mitigate motion sickness while getting my VR legs. It really helped me quite a lot.
Need to try this 🚀
@@LTGamingKZhead It's kinda funny, because when you Google whether or not ginger helps motion sickness, the top two results are contradictory. So your mileage may vary lol. But I do believe it helped.
Yes, I can highly recommend Elite Dangerous, except for the 'space legs' section. Frontier REALY c*cked up that mode. They just took the pancake, sticked it in 'VR' and called it a day. A real shame. Also, don't use a controller or keyboard/mouse combo. I bought myself a Logitech X52 HOTAS and, although I know that isn't for everyone, The X52 looks exactly the same as the HOTAS in-game. So if you position it just right, it will line up with your arms. And as the animation is pretty much synced with the real buttons and direction you move the stick in, it REALY helps with the emersion!
i played ed in vr almost every day for the past year at this point, still stand here playing it every single day, just hoping it will last another 5 years at least adding things. but i'm definitely going to check evochron legacy se cos it's seems a bit less polished but fresh and updated elite dangerous "clone" (in a totally positive way) another one that i found really cool was ziggy cosmic adventures, short and a bit buggy, still lacking of endless and arcade modes but truly fun, the immersion of having to fix and configure things in your ship while cruising is pretty cool, but with just too much terrible combat and cringe storyline hoping for some no man sky hotas support and (optional) simulating mechanics for ships and vehicles, or sum official even only cockpit based star citizen vr support
I wish they would update xvr, it's worth it
Thank you so much for this! I'm desperate for some good space sims IN VR, and I've played a number of these, but a few I have not! Largely because they do not show that they are VR compatible in the steam store! Didn't they used to show that, and steam might have removed that option for some reason? For example, Evochron does not show it is VR compatible at all.... thanks for the video!
Evochron really is awesome in VR and as its a lower spec it runs very well also. Really glad you got something from the list 🚀🚀
Thank you for the game suggestions. You're getting motion sick because you're using old VR headsets, (I did too in 2 of the 3 sets you mentioned!) Maybe plus an old PC system with poor framerates? Get the Quest 3 or something sold in 2023 and it's a different experience now. (Plus a powerful PC system to boot!) Plus in-game settings that eliminate shaking, motion blur, and other uncontrolled motion like excessive wind in MSFS2020 for example. (The plane bobbing up and down from wind currents still gets me a little nauseated on long flights in MSFS2020.)
Ive a 4070TI! But an upgrade to the Quest 3 could be good
If your CPU is fairly new in the last 2-3 years, (To reduce CPU bottle-necking) your system is strong enough then. Things like Binocular overlap, improved clarity and other specs put less, "Strain" on the eyes/brain in the newer VR systems these days. Also, many experienced VR players add blue-light lenses too that also helps a lot for many as well. Happy gaming sir!@@LTGamingKZhead
These look almost too immersive 😅
are there any 100% vr games similar to elite dangerous that dont take 5 years to go to other planets and have auto landing
I didnt the buggy station walking in Elite they added
What do you think about star citizen?
I'm a fan. I play it often and have made a lot of money in game and flown a lot of great ships. But I see and understand the criticism!
Won’t play elite anymore. The ground game is flat screen which makes playing in vr cumbersome. The best one on this list is NMS but the performance issues do suck. You have to spend quite a bit of time making adjustments to get a good frame rate.
Funny how X-Rebirth is highly praised as a great VR game, while at the same time is consider the worst game of the X-series..., even though i can't speak about other games of the X-series since i only had played X4 so far, but insta fall in love with it.
It's very true. X4 is excellent. And I just think the VR version of Rebirth surprised me 🙂🚀
For someone who played all X games and i love every one of them, my opinion why is X Rebirth worst from all of X series is because you can fly only 1 ship. And I think most of X players will agree with that statement. My biggest wish is to play X4 in VR.
Not sure when the last time was you played Elite Dangerous - it has come a long way, so the mile wide / inch deep comments doesn’t hold true anymore. One thing about Elite in VR, on-foot gameplay is not supported, and the game projects a 2D image.
I played it all this week and it still feels that way a little compared to the others.
Star Trek Bridge Crew you say...
Indeed!
Hasn't Ubisoft killed this game recently by shutting down the servers? Or is there another way to play this online with other player? Update: apparently I was misinformed - servers still running and multiplayer seems to work.
In the last 6 months I have bought ST Bridge Crew 2 times and couldn't start it at all, and for what I have read it that's the main reason why this game has so low player count
Lone Echo 1 and 2 > These
For those getting hyped for Elite: Dangerous (like myself), beware! If you own the Odyssey version get ready for a very nasty surprise the moment you leave the ship. Oh yes, if you have expected No Man's Sky like an experience you'll be slapped over a face by how unfinished this game is in VR. Spolier - you ll revert back into 2D looking through an ugly gray box that will totally destroy any immersion you might have had before you exit your ship. Not only that, the lazy devs. have completely abandoned implementing full VR. So yeah, if you hated how shallow this game is, but somehow got allured by the VR cake, don't get surprised or don't exit the ship with your headset on. For me this an immediate uninstall. Sidenote: Some modders actually shown how easy is to configure the camera for the VR outside the ship to prove how lazy/incompetent/careless the Frontier D. is. I have always thought David Braben would have want much better experience that we are getting. End of Rant.
Regarding absolute territory: If you're going to discuss a game for a vr list, show it in VR mode, because htere is no way the footage shown here was from a vr perspective.
Thete isn't a lot out there and I find badly recorded VR footage is awful to watch. This was best for the viewer!
@@LTGamingKZhead gotcha you were presenting others clips that makes more sense.
Some of these titles make me want to buy a headset... Nooooo lol
You know you want too! ;) haha they defo are fun!
No Star citizen?
VR? The performance is bad on amazing hardware in pancake mode 😂
@@LTGamingKZhead still has more players than most of those goofy games that you listed 🚬
Geez, ever heard about "Lone Echo" 1 and 2 ? Better than this "top 10" combined
I'm not sure you understand what a Space Sim is on PC ;) demonstrates a real lack of knowledge if you think this.
Do you even know what a Space Sim is?
