The summer before college, studious Auden meets mysterious Eli, and - on nightly quests - he helps her experience the carefree teen life she was missing.
Netflix really said let's take all the YA romance novels and make films of them. I'm not complaining.

Omg. Me too!!
Same!!! Team Eli!!!!
Yesssss. I want more adaptationss
This is the first Sarah Dessen book I ever read. Man, did not know it was being adapted for a movie. Brings back the feels❤️
They are doing a few more too!
ALL THE FEELS
Me too! I’m so excited ❤️❤️
Same very exciting
Me too!😁
I hope they make a “The Truth About Forever” adaptation. It was/is my absolute favourite Sarah Dessen book and I’d love to see the characters and story play out on screen.
same omg!!!! i read it every summer and i would loveeee to see wes and macy as real people
YESS i read that book like six times
Same! 😍 that one brings back so much nostalgia for me

They are!! Sarah Dessen released that Netflix obtained the truth about forever as well! Also one of my first Sarah Dessen reads and favorites. My inner 18 year old is elated!
Was obsessed with this book when I was 12 and can’t wait for this adaptation. There are so many other great Sarah Dessen stories that deserve an adaptation too. Hope they do this justice.
I hope they do too
I hope they did it justice (looks promising from the trailer) because they have the rights to ‘This Lullaby’ (my fave) and ‘Once and For All’
Excuse me , I am sorry I haven't heard about this book ever and I am super excited about the movie but can you please give me a little spoiler... Like is the ending sad or happy ? Please

Eli and Auden finally!!! As a long time Sarah Dessen trash can circa 2009 and proud former member of her Sarahland forum, I am READY for this. And this better mean we get more than the three Netflix told us about. I need my Wes.
Sarah said on her blog that Netflix obtained TTAF just before they began filming this one.
Yes to Wes
Ah me too!!!! U wanna be friends? 😂
@@sarahdessenthings where did she say this?
@@sarahdessenthings because I know they also picked up This Lullaby and Once and For All. But I can’t find anywhere where it talks about The Truth about Forever.
Seems like a feel good Romance movie. I'm not going to MISS this
I loved that all the characters are REALLY nice, smart, and pure. I hate it when movies/series depict teens as mean, and shallow sexual animals.
Ikr. Nice movie with nice people 🥰
Naah only happens in fantasy movie like this 😂
Have you ever... met a teenage boy? No? Prepare yourself. This is a Disney movie my friend. American Pie is a hard-hitting documentary compared to this. And pls, don't ever go to a confined dark space with a boy you just met 5 minutes ago only because he can read a book...

This was my favorite book in high school, and Sarah Dessen remains one of my favorite authors, can't wait!
I always loved that in all the books of Sarah Dessen, she always made the character come back as cameos! I love that, I remember wanting to be in Colby, the beaches the friendship. All those stuff, made it perfect, when I see the trailer I get a warm feeling in my belly, remembering all the feelings I felt while reading it, her books was a good escape! Came into a hole new world! I hope they make more movies of her books!!!
This is literally the book that got me into reading! So excited that it’s being made into a movie!
I loved it. And to be honest the dialogues felt wayy more realistic, than every other teenage movie.
Frrr
"Aren't they all," quest, bike scene, food fight - it's happening! Also, can I just say that the actresses playing Auden and Heidi (Auden's stepmom) look EXACTLY how I pictured them, to a T. I'm looking forward to seeing who's going to play Auden's erratic brother, Hollis!
And THE LAURA
@@leighcolby Yesss, the basically younger version of Auden's mom (sorry, edited cause I originally put Heidi here lol)! That scene should be pretty funny lol, I hope they keep that
100% I saw the pie room and screamed!

*am screeching* but also how do we know hollis and Laura made the adaptation cut???? And what about CLYDE? I love Clyde. I'm so excited and so stressed at the same time 😭
This movie was really cute and gave a nostalgic vibe. 10/10.
One of my favorite first childhood romance books. I loved how it wasn't just loved stories it discussed family dynamics, trauma, friendships, and had characters with personality and depth. Also, I hope they reference Sarah Dessen’s easter eggs where she puts her main characters from other books in her main novel at the time.
Literally the first Sarah Dessen novel I ever read ages ago and now it's a movie! This is so exciting!!
This was one of my most absolute favourite novels as a teenager. Sarah Dessen is amazing. This makes my nostalgia skyrocket.
I was a huge Sarah Dessen fan growing up. Can’t wait to see this adaption. Hopefully they turn more of her books into movies. ❤️

I'm re-reading AFTR solely because I cannot keep replaying this trailer indefinitely. Need my Dessen summer book fix (...in the middle of spring?)
I would love to see a series of SD movies taking place in/around Colby with the characters making their cameos like they do in the books. TBH you could easily make a limited series out of them.
OMG I was so shookt, this book is one of those that calmed me and me feel so comfortable and now it's a Netflix film! So excited for this!
I loved this movie!!! The main character was annoying at times but honestly she had every reason and right to behave the way she did. I like the message. Definitely recommend

Such nostalgia, the amount of times I’ve fallen asleep listening to this and “just listen” on audible.

Man, this was one of my favorite Sarah Dessen books that I've read. There's a tiny part of me that wants to reread the book before the movie releases, but I've also learned my lesson with The Sun Is Also A Star, so I won't be making that mistake again.
I used to love reading Sarah’s books! I’m here for all of this!!
Right now I was super down in my mood thinking what iam doing with my summer holidays as my school got over and i am going to step into college in after summer. And suddenly this trailer popped up. This video is giving me a better feeling and changing my perspective. I think I exactly can relate to audan who spent her life in studies and school.

Sarah Dessen was my childhood, it's about time we get some movie adaptations. I hope this is the start of many 😀.
How to Deal starring Mandy Moore released in 2003. Is the movie adaption of Someone Like You and That Summer

YES! ugh wish this came out like 10 years ago. Hoping for a Just Listen, that's my fav.
I REALLY hope this is going to be good and not too cringey. This is one of my all-time fav books and I would be so upset if the movie is bad 😭
What's the boy's secret? I love spoilers*-*
I would be too. They tried to combine her books “That Summer” and “Someone Like You” into a movie called “How to Deal” back in 2002 and it was sooooo bad and disappointing. I hope this one is better! I’ll be back in this comment section on Friday so we can all talk about our verdicts lol. I’ve been in love with her books since I was 11 in 2004 when I read “Dreamland,” I NEED HER BOOKS DONE JUSTICE
Too long and the kiss was lame. But it wasn't bad. Just... not hot enough.
Welp I watched it, back to review it. I’m gonna start with my criticisms first. It’s a sweet love story, however some of the characters were super cheesy. Kate Bosworth kinda overdid the “new step mom trying to be cool” trope. Like I expected her to be that role, but I feel like it was overdone. Some of the dialogue was cheesy, and some of the writing didn’t make sense and was unnecessary. Like everyone cheering at the first kiss? Teenagers saying the acronym “OMG” out loud? Like do some of these writers even know how teenagers act? I’m 29 and I know teenagers don’t do that lol. Criticism time over. I still loved it. The cinematography and the soundtrack/score are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I loved the shots they took, like the scene with the lights hitting Auden in the lighthouse? Gorgeous. The actor who played Eli deserves more roles in movies, he is actually a very talented actor and made the cheesy settings still feel very natural and casual. The love story is actually incredibly sweet and there were times in the movie that made me genuinely laugh out loud. The way they interpreted Auden’s character development was lovely, and the actress who played her did an incredible job of playing the awkward girl blossoming, I also hope to see her in more roles in the future. All in all, this movie made me smile and feel all the warm feelings I get whenever I read Sarah Dessen. I will 10/10 watch again and I look forward to seeing the other adaptations
It was so good!!! I loved it
