The psych room is an interesting aspect of your hospital. Like the Ward, the Psych room can both cure and diagnose patients and is an important part of your early-game diagnosis suite. Building the room and training doctors specialized in psych is important for any level you're playing. Today I show you the way I like to build this room for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Just got into TPH and I love your videos. I just have one request: can you please make a video ranking the different attributes that the staff can have? Occasionally you mention something about Nasty being bad and Teacher being good, but a complete tier list video would be amazing. Thanks for all of your content.

  • PINSTAR I'm sure you're onto new games now, but I wondering if you could share your thoughts on a few more things either by commenting to this or with a video: 1) How to understand all the information that the game tries to give you and how to use it to your benefit. Stuff like the "characters" tab with the illness button, the data view, the policy page...etc. 2) I would also like to know how you use the patient screen in regards to moving patients up and down the queue and under what circumstances you might send a patient home. 3) Are there any instances where you just send a patient straight to treatment? For example: a patient might be easily spotted with a particular illness type like Premature Mummification. Is it okay to just send them to treatment or can the treatment still fail because they haven't been diagnosed or their diagnosis is still at a low percentage for some reason? 4) How do you handle pandemics? If my hospital is too busy or chaotic because an earthquake or something just hit, I will just take the reputation hit by clicking on the 'x' to close the task. Is that hurting me more than I think it is?

  • So does an intern doctor have 10% treatment chance? Is it 10% per level plus skills? And if a Psych III doctor caps treatment/diagnosis at 99%, what skills do you recommend for his fourth and fifth level?

  • Is Medicine Cabinet more efficient than Diagnostic/Treatment Bookshelves?

    @skipperg4436@skipperg44363 жыл бұрын
    • Bookshelves are boosters for training rooms. Different bonuses. Absolutely useful there, but not so much in the psych room.

      @Pinstar@Pinstar3 жыл бұрын
    • I think they mean the diagnosis bookcase or treatment bookcase. Both give 2 percent boost. But seeing as medicine cabs give 1% both and probably able to squeeze 2 IN For every one bookcase. I’d say medicine is still better

    • I've only been able to get 5 cabinets along a wall (on console) as opposed to 3 bookcases (at 2% each) yielding 5% diagnosis vs 6%. I've actually used a Diagnosis only Psychiatry on Sweaty Palms with Bookcases since according to www.neoseeker.com/two-point-hospital/Diagnosis_Rooms Psych has the biggest bonus to diagnose mummification. I prefer the Medicine Cabinets on every other Psych office though since the 5/5% bonus has a better expected value.

    • @@WAF74 With some hospital layouts, I like to have separate and dedicated rooms for diagnosis separate from treatment rooms for certain rooms, such as psychiatry and the DNA lab. This has some obvious drawbacks, but it also has what I perceive to be benefits: I can position the diagnosis rooms closer to GP's offices and other diagnostic rooms and allow the treat-only rooms to be a bit further away; I can try to position treatment-only rooms closer to a helipad if it's a hospital that receives emergencies that can be treated by the room; I can place diagnostic-/treatment-boosting items exclusively (e.g. Deep Thing 1/Diagnostic Bookcase vs. Deep Thing 2/Treatment Bookcase); patients from emergencies and low-health patients needing treatment don't get stuck in queues behind undiagnosed patients; I can have an Ectovat near the treatment-only DNA room to recycle the energy from the patients I kill; etc. I sometimes will even have a doctor with Genetics + Treatment + Treatment II + Treatment III and try to plop him or her in that DNA lab at any opportunity or before DNA-lab-related emergencies. I can assign them in the jobs interface to work only in DNA Labs, but there doesn't seem to be a way to further refine a staff member so that one could restrict staff based on room type and whether it is used for diagnosis or treatment, but that sounds like it would be neat.

  • Do you have any advice in building a psych room with the special diagnosis and treatment bookshelves that you can unlock that is only for this room? Not the medicine cabinets that you have used in this video or the bookcase ones used in training room videos :)

    @dnuttall167@dnuttall1673 жыл бұрын

  • So, in the video you say that a level 3 Psychiatrist is 90% effective at treating illnesses, but the first level of the Psychiatry skill doesn't give a bonus. It only allows a doctor to work in Psychiatry. A third level Psychiatrist has a 70% treatment skill level, 40% from the two ranks of Psychiatry that give a bonus and 30% from the three levels. It takes a fourth level Psychiatrist to reach 100% treatment levels (well, 99%), and they have that much of a bonus without the need for item bonuses. Because of that, I use your design with 12 medicine cabinets (complete with a sweets dispenser, coffee maker, hot chocolate, and temperature fixer) if I'm using it as an all purpose room for both diagnosis and treatment and my Psychiatrists are third level or lower. I often use dedicated rooms that only diagnose and only treat, though, and when I do I use the respective bookcases for the bigger bonuses. I have designs that can fit 11 bookcases into a 3x3 along with a sweets dispenser, a coffee machine, and a temperature fixer. In the late game when all of my Psychiatrists are fourth or fifth level I switch to using Psychiatry rooms with diagnosis bookshelves for both diagnosis and treatment as long as my layout allows for it (if Psychiatry is in my diagnostic section). After all, they no longer need the treatment bonuses and every bit helps with diagnosis. And none of this is even considering the quite often bonuses for being happy to be in a level 5 prestige room and the sometimes bonus for being energized. Regardless, I love your videos and they've been a great help for me to learn how to play the game well. Thank you so much, and I'm looking forward to your videos on Two Point Campus.

    • On a side note, I'm really beginning to see the Positive Trait as being a very good one. Happy employees are more effective, have the bonuses effective more often and for longer, and don't need as much pay to keep them satisfied.

  • So a lvl 4 doctor with pych 3 would already reach 99% without any cabinets ?

    @jamesgordon1446@jamesgordon14463 жыл бұрын
    • That is correct. However, because the XP required to get to the next level increases with each level gained, the time it takes a level 2 doctor to reach level 3 is shorter than the time it takes a level 3 doctor to get 4, thus making your doctors 99% effective at level 3 is very useful as they'll be level 3 for a healthy amount of time before they finally hit 4. Not to mention, the cabinets help your students and juniors out. While they can't get them to 99%, they'll help them be more effective than they otherwise would until they can skill up.

    • You need level 4 doctor with Psych 4 to reach 100%, first rank in Psych doesn't give a bonus.

    • @@Votssad NO need to apologize. I haven't been playing very long. When I asked the question I was just starting out and couldn't understand why the idle items were in other rooms, but not the GP. I went ahead and put them in and the above comment is my observation. I now have idle items and chairs in every room - well no chair in the GP. I've also found that it makes sense to put the coffee in rooms like the ward/fracture ward so that they can move through the room faster while attending multiple patients. Additionally, rooms that require a nurse or Dr to move from one part of the room to another (DNA lab/Toad Hall) can also benefit from the coffee. In all other rooms I use the hot chocolate.

  • I just want to say a big THANKS for the tips. 40+ videoes I'll never go through, but I finally went trough Sweaty Palms like a boss. AND you talk so calm & pleasent, not a whimsy teensy, which is nice for a change. Still don't get the surgery, seems it's made to be a 50/50. But I have one issue. I don't agree at all with the book cases vs anatomy models in training. A large bookcase=4000 for 4 % faster training. A model=800 for 1 %. Do the math. And the models takes less space... if you don't go anal about everything looking tidy. I drive a hospital, not a beauty parlour
