This is excellent! No dribble talking about your channel, promoting products or companies. To the point and even though I don't have the tools or garage to tackle this job, I probably could tackle it with your informative video. Thank you - I'm sharing it.
Thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate the comment!
awesome tutorial, greetings from Aruba in the caribbean. Subaru 4life.
Appreciate the comment! Greetings from NZ
very well done, thank you
Thank you!
No need to take the housing out, just pop that seal out with a flat pry bar. Then a "seal install" tool to drive the new one in.
Yes this is correct for the axle seal. However the Sundial has to be removed in order to replace the oring as seen in the video.
@@AutoBuddynz Ah! I stand corrected!
@@danaschoen432is a seal tool necessary to install the new seal? Scotty Kilmer says to just use a socket extension/whatever can tap around the seal until flush
Yeah….I screwed mine up on the left side. Didn’t know that it was for the carrier bearings. Didn’t mark anywhere. Other side i did but now i guess i will find out if i am close or not
Just follow this video for the approx turns. Then check for binding at the diff. Drive it and see, if you hear any abnormal noise then do not continue driving for too long
Nice vid! Do you have a link for a tool to spin a sundial out? Tnx!

@@AutoBuddynz awesome! Thank you very much for the link and very detailed video!
@@RideShootDrinkThanks!
Where’s the link in the description regarding the spring @22:01
Thanks for pointing that out, see video below from 4:40mins kzhead.info/sun/ZdKPeZqvjZqVYGw/bejne.html
Hello there is this the work needed to fix oil leaking from input shaft seal onto diff?
You would need to remove the gearbox to fix the internal seal.
@@AutoBuddynz oh Lord thanks for replying looks like I won't be able to do it
@@chololoplez313 Best to send the gearbox to a specialist.
I just did this on my driver side and had a little metal stretchy o ring that fell out and I’m not sure where it goes. (2013 wrx)
Odd, was it grey in colour? And looked more like tape?
just had that happen changing the drivers side CV axle on my 07 leggy (na). Apparently it's from the black rubber seal mounted in the port where the axle inserts into the diff. The spring is there to squeeze the inner layer of the ring seal onto the axle to prevent leaking. I thought I'd get away with not putting the spring ringlet back in, as it got crimped when removing the axle, but now I have a slow diff leak on that side 2 days later. Diff seal kit is $20 on Amazon. Good luck to both of us.
@@xbassist9x the new rubber seal comes with that spring, ig it’s called an energizing spring
What’s tool number to take that off you said oil filet removal tool ?

@@AutoBuddynzthank you!
so my 2015 wrx has play on both sides, is this normal????? i was going to pay a tech to replace the rubber seals cuz it was leaking, and he said he couldnt because he found some play in the bearings
By play are you referring to the preload of the front diff? There is a backlash adjustment which can be performed if your sure you know where the play is from.
@@AutoBuddynz hmm the front diff axle stubs have a little bit of play, my mechanic said the rubber seal may not last becuase of the play. isnt this normal?
@@AutoBuddynz?
@@christopherrogers8316 they will have a little movement in and out thats normal. Its hard to ascertain what play your referring to. I would suggest getting a 2nd opinion. Do you hear any clunking or whining when driving?
@@AutoBuddynz no i hear nothing, it drives fine. so in and out play is normal?
How do these part numbers translate to LHD?
Should be the same as far as I know.
@@AutoBuddynz thank you! i was just double checking since you indicated RHD with the p/n
