The delicious glaze is made in a snap and only requires a few ingredients you probably already have! All your friends and family will be asking you to cook this salmon recipe again and asking you how to cook salmon in the oven!
Ingredients
2 lb salmon fillet cut into four ½ lb pieces
• 2 tablespoons Black Magic from @Spiceology (or any other blackening seasoning)
• 2 teaspoons Chef Ange Base Seasoning - • The ONLY Seasoning Ble...
• olive oil
Honey Garlic Glaze
• 2 tbsp honey
• 2 tsp soy sauce
• 2 tsp maple syrup
• 1 tsp rice wine vinegar or white wine vinegar
• A dash of sesame oil
• 1/2 tsp Black Magic from Spiceology (or any other blackening seasoning)
• 1-2 cloves garlic finely shredded or finely minced
Garnish
• Thinly sliced scallion greens
• Sesame seeds
• Lemon slices
Directions
• Preheat oven to 425F.
• Coat salmon in Black Magic or other blackening seasoning, Chef Ange base seasoning ( • The ONLY Seasoning Ble... ) and olive oil. Set aside and let salmon come up to room temperature for 15-20 min.
• In a small bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, maple syrup, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic and blackening seasoning. Set aside for after salmon goes in the oven. (If you like a thicker glaze, you can reduce until thicker and/or add a touch of cornstarch in a small saucepot before using.)
• Arrange seasoned salmon evenly on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and parchment paper. Place on a rack in the lower third of the oven. Bake 10-12 min or until the white proteins start to come out of the sides of the salmon.
• Remove salmon from oven and brush on a thin coat of the honey garlic glaze and put back in the oven for 2-3 min to let glaze stiffen up a little.
• Remove salmon from oven and transfer to a raised grate on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
• Brush on another thin coat of glaze and hit lightly with a kitchen torch. If you don’t have a torch, broil on high for 1-2 min.
• Remove from oven and let cool to the touch on the baking sheet.
• Remove skin or leave on if you like the salmon skin.
• Garnish with sesame seeds and transfer to serving platter.
• Finish garnish with sliced scallion greens and lemon slices.

I already put together the base seasoning after watching another vid. I am going to use a garlic press, I don't want to put my knuckles at risk, I've scraped them too many times

Unfortunately, salmon skin stuck to sheet. Cooked jasmine rice, green beans, yukon gold potatoes. Truly did taste restaurant "worthy". Thanks Chef.

  • Is the paul prudhomme seasoning good to replace the blackening seasoning?

    • Yes I do use that like a more mild blackening seasoning.

  • Making this for dinner… it looks so good! (Every time I hear you say line in the pan with foil to make cleanup easier I can’t help but think that the foil will stay in the landfill forever just so it takes me five minutes less to do the dishes… am I the only one who feels bad about that? LoL) Thanks for the recipe!

    • @@ChefAnge All I hear and see is a LIST of the ingredients: honey, soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar and garlic cloves. How much of each? I'm not a natural cook; cooking and seasoning do not come easily to me, so I have no idea of how much of each to use.

  • making this tonight, will edit my comment to review! edit: the recipe kicks ass! didn't have a torch so i just put the salmon under the broiler for abt 2 minutes and achieved a nice hardened-glaze effect. personally would've liked the glaze to be a bit thicker, so if you like glaze, add more honey!
