7 YEAR OLD'S FIRST SNOWBOARD COMPETITION - BOGUS BASIN LEGENDARY DON BAKER BANKED SLALOM
Cash has wanted to do the Bogus Basin Legendary Don Baker Banked Slalom race since 2022. She has been talking about it frequently, finding natural banks around the mountain to practice and literally told us before the race “This is my destiny!”
To say we are proud of our daughter is an understatement. Watching her full send this race in front of the entire snowboard community here at Bogus Basin was magical. She was nervous at first but you will see she gets in the zone and doesn’t let anything distract her focus.
Cashy competed in the 12 & Under CoEd Division and did really good for being half the size of most kids.
As well, she wasn't the only one to race. Nick got in on the action and ended up with a solid 2nd run after tomahawking into the fences on his 1st run.
Cashy’s bestie shred buddy Bodee raced as well and did so good for being 13 in the 13-17 Boys Division.
If you don’t know, the Banked Slalom is a snowboard only event that is held at most mountains in the spring. It is a super fun time and a great way to meet more snowboarders in your community. Plus it's family friendly and so much fun to rip down one of these!
So here is competition day through our eyes! From our first chairlift ride up to the awards ceremony.

We got up to the mountain early in the morning, checked in, slipped the course, competed in our divisions, then took some park laps with the crew while we waited for the awards ceremony to begin.
The weather was wonderful, the vibes were high and it was a day we will never forget. ALREADY THINKING ABOUT NEXT YEARS EVENT!

I think it's safe to say beast mode has been engaged... Cashy nailed that 1st run.
I'm 72, and can't get enough of watching her amazing growth. I admit, my jaw clinched a few times, but Cashy made it look fun. She is an awesome person. Kudos to you guys for having the love to guide her through.
I’m 60 and agree, Cashy is so impressive and inspirational at such a young age and definitely all the kudos to her parents.
I'm 53 & I've had a few "clinched jaw" nail-biting sessions watching Cashy. She's AMAZING thanks to her parent's great upbringing ❤ You all rock! ❤ Keep on "Doing it scared"❤🎉
Being on the snow is fun! I never competed formally, but was skiing with my sisters and friends, there was informal competition. 😊
Little Fry took 4th place competing against most of the kids being twice her size! She is going to be a force to be reckoned with! Watch out, she is going for her destiny!
Home fry is killing the game!! Cashy simply crushed the 1st run. 2nd run was a great lesson in adapting to terrain and finishing it out. Now matter how she placed, she won simply by stepping up to the block. Major kudos to Nick for making the run. The slalom looks perfect sized for kids but major sus for an adult. Glad to see all were having fun and just vibing with the snow. Congrats Cashy on your first competition.
Quietest I've ever heard Mom!! I get it, girl!! ❤️ Don't worry too much, you taught her well Mom and Dad!! She rides like that board is an extension of her body!!
I think back to just a couple of years ago, and to see her skill set at such a high level and how much fun she has challenging herself at age 7 is mind-boggling. She is a confident young gal with a very promising future if she decides to see this through. I hope I am still around when she qualifies to be on the U.S.A. team in the Winter Olympics down the road. I could watch her forever.....

I really enjoy watching this young lady’s snowboarding. I grew up sking Bogus Basin. Skied both downhill and cross country, snowshoes, mountain biked and hiked every inch of this wonderful playground. My most cherished experiences!

Competing with Kids almost twice her age.., both girls and boys…, Super impressive to watch her progression!!! No doubt if she continues she will dominate the sport in years to Come!! I’m 74 and began watching and enjoying how this little girl had so much control just like my 7 yr old granddaughter who is skiing in France as I write but I am appalled at the yelling and the pressure that little one is under she wasn’t celebrating and laughing and jumping for joy like normal reaction to success but was gruelled about hitting ‘the net’ ALL FOR THE BLOG 😢
