Wildlife Photography - WOLVES and BEARS part 2 | Behind the scenes in the photo hide

It is time to do some wildlife photography in Finland, and I have traveled to Kuhmo near the Russian border to photograph the wild wolves and bears, and to be able to see these fascinating animals in their natural environment. Beside photographing it is my goal to vlog from this trip to share my fascination of these beautiful mammals. These animals are extremely shy and to get close to them, I am going to a location, where they have set up photo hides and have put out meat for the bears for many years.

  • Thanks for all the awesome comments - I WILL answer a lot of you very soon. I am in Crete right now and when not photographing, I am working on part 3 which will be only 3 minutes and very very different. It is just something I really feel for, and I am excited to see what you think about it... See you out there...

  • Wow! And wow again! I know nothing about making videos and I’m not going to pretend I do, but the video of the bears especially was stunningly clear! What an amazing experience to share with us, I both thank you and envy you. Your videos are going from strength to strength. I hope the doors are very secure on that hide (blind), I wouldn’t fancy being surrounded by wolves if they weren’t.

  • Ausgezeichnet ! I love your videos but I must take exception to one statement you made. The howl of the wolf is the second most beautiful sound in the world; the most beautiful is the sound of the loons in northern Maine. They both are pure music !

  • Thanks for these fantastic Moments Morten. Awesome pictures and I love how respectful you`re treating your surroundings; wildlife and nature overall. And one thing came to my mind as I listened. How "annoying" the shutter noise can be; at least one major advantage to me in the recent years of camera technology. The availability of a lees noisy or even noiseless shutter. Thanks again, you`re inspiring me very much my friend - and even if I don`t know you personally I think through your videos I feel totally connected to you - this is awesome. So, see you out there!

  • Wow!! I know the feeling of the wolves howling, I used to work at a camp in central Ontario, Canada. I was their Nature Guy, one of the other team members and I went out snow shoeing on a full moon night to try and call in owls, as I was hooting for the owls I had a wolf call back. First one wolf, then others joined in all around us, it was awesome, one of those moments you just don't forget. Really want to thankyou for your posts Morten, one of your other subscribers said it well , you are humble and yet passionate with your photography, which encourages others to get out and experience it. Thankyou!!

  • What an experince, and a very nice way of bringing us along :-) Even if the spot is prepared with blinds and feeding I guess their behaviour is calm and natural. To get these pictures going gerilua in the absolute wild in scandinavia could take a life to accomplish if ever. I´m so happy for you, ending up with very nice light and weather too.

  • That set if videos was excellent Morten! Anyone who thinks that wildlife photography is easy simply needs to watch your videos and see how much preparation, travel, set-up sweat and time goes into the art. Your coice of music reflects the peacefullness of the adventure. The first time that I heard wild wolves my brother and I were camping in northern Ontario, in Canada, sitting around a camp fire looking up at the milky way, when suddenly in the distance........oooooooooowwwwwwwrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Eerie, but awesome! You need to come to Canada!

  • Hi Morten, such a great video. I guess that I watched Part 1 and 2 more than 10 times each. This place is our target for June and we hope that Finland will open till there. I saw your camera setting which was verry helpfull. 1/80 at 6.3 and ISO 2.000 for a slowly walking bear seems realistic to me as you showed us. I hope we can share the same awesome experience of this area as you had. Thx again Morten.
