As you know, I own a Trabant 601S from 1984 here in the state of Ohio. It is my project/dream car. Since I made the video, I had someone from Germany mention a fuel leak that I have been chasing since her new engine was put in. I have since received a new carburetor, fuel hose as well as other new parts, with much thanks to my great friend in Germany. I plan to install them here soon but for now, here is a short drive. I will make a video about how I acquired this vehicle because that itself is one story that I hope will not only inspire you but also bring smiles to all. I hope to have that video released by the end of next week. The weather here can be crazy but I'll manage.
sziastok und Glück Auf!
They are such fun things, Trabants.
Indeed they are, especially here in Ohio where no one really knows what the heck they are looking at.
@@McElroysMotors I owned one about 15 years ago - drove it about 80 miles home after picking it up, and about halfway along the trip I passed a busload of German tourists. You should've seen the surprise on their faces!
Forget your EVs. East German two stokes forever ❤️
It's unfortunate that they discontinued them after the unification of Germany because their engines did not meet enviromental standards.
Dude you are ripping! 😂 I just discovered the not factory aftermarket sport steering wheel in it. 🤘🏻
The BLACK furry dice are cool! I haven't seen black ones before!
Your car deserves a Kawasaki H1 Mach III engine under its hood.

If you’re late on your payment Borat shows up to repossess it. Nize!
Your Trabant has a Hungarian license plate number? You should find one from the former GDR (German Democratic Republic).
I would if it was sold new in East Germany. It was sold new in Budapest.
@@McElroysMotors People associate the Trabant 601 with German reunification. The vehicle was also produced in Germany. So why would you drive around in the USA with a Hungarian license plate?
@@f.p.1308It was made for the socialist countries market only so it’s totally legit.
@@f.p.1308 The car was sold new in Budapest. I do it to show my respect to the guy who I bought it off of in 2018. He waited 6 years for his.
@@McElroysMotorsThat's the right thing to do, why would you fake the history by putting a license plate on it which it never had?
Soon you will be dealing with a crankshaft. Central bearings separators. I hear the balls hitting each other.
Interestingly, I just had a new engine put in...
die rote Lampe im Tachometer sollte eigentlich nicht leuchten im Betrieb
der läuft aber nicht gut
