"I attend Mass frequently. The liturgy of St John Chrysostom is one of the most exalted works of art. Anyone following the liturgy of the Greek Orthodox service attentively trying to comprehend the meaning of each ceremony will be stirred to the very depth of his being. I am also very fond of evening prayers. There is nothing like entering an ancient church on a Saturday, standing in the semi-darkness with the scent of incense wafting through the air, lost in deep contemplation to find an answer to those perennial questions: wherefore, when, whither and why?" These are the words of Tchaikovsky writing to his patron Nadezhda von Meck (who he never met), and he continued, ‘As you can see, I am still bound to the Church by strong ties, but on the other hand I have long ceased to believe in the dogma … this constant inner struggle would be enough to drive me out of my mind were it not for music, that great comforter, the most exquisite gift Heaven has bestowed on a mankind living in darkness.’

    • Orthodoxy is not the way, because it's not ortho-dox. You should read and meditate and pray with the saint Athanasius' symbol. Don't get fooled by what they will say to you : it 's not from orient because it has been written in latin, and even the latin used in Gaules, so it can't be Athanasius. It's not true because he was exiled during two years in Gaules... So, read and pray for God will guide you to a catholic guide.

  • When I hear this beautiful liturgy I am not only transported to "the numberless angels singing eternal praise" but also to the faces of orphans, the disconsolate, the marginalized the very people Christ ministered to and yet at the same time I can catch a glimpse of the vastness of the universes that Our Father has created. That a piece of music can encapsulate all of the above is a miracle unto itself.

This is part of text: Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, abiding everywhere and filling everything, Treasury of good and life Giver, come and dwell in us, And clean us from all filth, and save our souls. • Have to agree with all the comments regarding the Cherubic Hymn (Hymn the Cherubim). Absolutely ethereal. As a Ukrainian Rite Catholic, I've heard many beautiful versions of the hymn, (Bortnyansky's Cherubic Hymn no. 7 comes to mind), but this is so ethereal it brings chills to the spine. All the more reason to live a holy life and desire final union with God in Heaven--you won't get this in the other place. This is the music I would imagine we will hear moving through the tunnel of light to the Throne of Our Lord. Be ready!

    @matthewlau6711@matthewlau67113 жыл бұрын
    • @@kansashoneybadger7899 quite a coincidence, I was raised and still am a Methodist,but I am also disgusted by the amount of traditions and doctrines that they summarise or threw away. Methodists don't even cross themselves and they are turning too liberal and left for me. I am looking towards catholicism and Orthodoxy but I won't be so sure that the Holy Spirit is not present with them. St Peter and St Paul had contrasting views and their churches sometimes received different messages but the Holy Spirit will guard the Holy mother church collectively until the end of days, and Hades shall not prevail against it.

      @matthewlau6711@matthewlau67113 жыл бұрын
    • @@matthewlau6711 I don't mean to come across as rude but thinking of the catholic (western) church and Orthodox (eastern) churches as peter's and paul's respectively is very misinformed. Firstly, Peter did not just found western churches he also founded the church of Antioch. Secondly, there were a thousand years after the death of the apostles that the church existed without schism. While it is true that the basis of the main claim made by the catholic church, that is of papal supremacy, is founded solely on the apostle peter this does not mean that the Orthodox does not also follow peters teachings. Peter is a Saint in both churches and so is Paul! Also, both Orthodox Christians and Roman Catholics hold that the way that their respective churches interpret the writings left by the apostles is non-contradictory. To believe that Peter and Paul had contrasting views presents a serious problem with the infallibility of scripture and in turn the canon of scripture. Please become Orthodox Christian!

    • Eric Welling Once you ponder the meaning of music, and reflect upon all you know, asking what is human cognition to conjure such imagery and evoke such passions within the human sprite, and the finite understandings and incongruities in mathematical formuli such as quantum mechanics and atomic theory, recognize our inadequacies in not even being able to journey amongst the stars, to see as reincarnation is documented, transference of the human spirit, and the profundity and impact of His teachings on western society, you come to acknowledge His presence.

  • I am a Christian mystic and Seer. Not too long ago, I had a rare and unusually deep dream. An angel escorted me to a gigantic room in heaven that looked like the famous gold, wood and amber room but only thousands of times more beautiful. Millions of souls of babies and children were in this room singing and waiting their turn to sing in some kind of angelic choir before GOD. Then a set of huge double doors opened and their singing was joined with the choirs outside in heaven. The beauty of all of this was beyond words and so powerfully overwhelming that when I woke, I was smiling enormously and tears rolling down my face. I immediately start saying the Our Father automatically and for that whole day I was in an extreme state of ecstasy. Heaven is so much more than any creature can imagine or comprehend.

    • In the fall of 1996, on a sunny Saturday afternoon, in my home on Billtown Road, Jeffersontown, KY, I fell into an extremely deep sleep unlike anything I have ever had. In this dream I was standing on the eastern side of a lake shore in Cavehill Cemetery looking westward. Below me on the lake was a single white swan. The sun was beginning to set. Then suddenly a rolling, boiling dark cloud about the size of a basketball appeared near my right shoulder about six to ten feet away. From behind this cloud rays of light, all colors, appeared and pulsed. This was over whelming. Then in my mind as if telepathy, I heard a very tiny or small but strong and extremely loving voice say, "do not be afraid." "Look at all these rosebushes around this shore. They are all my children. You will go to them and tell them to stop being promiscuous. They only hurt themselves and each other." I seem to understand that they were homosexuals. "Their acts grieve and sadden me. I want them to love purely, to be faithful, loyal, merciful and kind to one another. Sex was created for the creation of children, to be sacrificial and not for any ego centric pleasure. Their acts are not acts of real and true love. Tell them to stop hurting each other and themselves." I then knew that GOD THE BELOVED FATHER was in and behind this cloud. "I will send you far away to another shore with almost no trees, a land overlooking an even larger waters, a place you have never been. Tell them!" I later discovered myself in the CA Bay area! There at a street arts festival a painter was painting a plate of a dusk scene, setting sun with one star and one swan. He turned around, saw me and handed me this plate telling me this was for me - no charge! The love I felt coming from this cloud was beyond description. As a child I always seem to have dreams and visions that would come true and I had a keen sense of intuition. When I woke from this dream, my Clairvoyance and intuition was magnified. Since then there have been so many "events and miracles" in my life, that they would fill a book that no one would believe! @@meusisto
