This kid saved himself a lot of hurt by Ovechkin denying him this fight. Not only does Ovi outweigh him by nearly 35 pounds, you have some jungle type characters on the Caps coming down the pipe in the minutes that follow during this game and for the rest of the seasons series. It’s weird. I like both of these guys more for this interaction. Frederic’s willingness/expectation to drop the gloves was refreshing to see in a young guy, then he didn’t hit the legend after he realized he wasn’t defending himself. Ovi is one of the GOAT’s and showed he’d rather score goals then fight rookies. Both hilarious.

Dave Martin the thing is, thats Ovi's only fight in over a decade - against a skinny kid (a child) with zero fighting experience. The only fight Ovi has had in ten years was against someone that can't defend himself and Ovi knew that; that's why and only why Ovi took that fight. He's a rat. Why are people saying respec for Frederic for not punching OV? He would have been given a penalty if he did threw a punch. Also, isn't that supposed to be a penalty anyway? I remember when Eller threw his gloves down and wanted to fight Marchand and Marchand ended up walking away. Eller was given a penalty for that when no punches were thrown.
