So when the main character saw that the "brotha" was actually Andre, he took the picture but it backfired. And the main guys friend is worried because all the missing black people are changing into weird workers that act white so since the main character is black he needs to get out of there because he's finding all of the missing black people.

  • I'm white, so I'm not going to speak for this movie without seeing it. I was not offended by the trailer, because the 'I'm nervous around too many white people' rings true for many of my minority friends. I live in the south, and most people don't step in to stop racial slurs or hate crimes unless they're 'your race'. His fear was very valid. He was around many older white people, who acted very oddly around him, people that he doesn't know, in a place he's never been before. If I was him, I would be scared too. I'm excited to see it to see what kind of social commentary it provides, and what kind of dialogs its starts.

    @strawberrycherrybaby@strawberrycherrybaby7 жыл бұрын
    • Exactly, if anyone put themselves in that situation they'd feel uncomfortable or nervous, it's natural. It's one less thing you have in common with the people around you, and due to the differences in racial culture in our society, the effect is only heightened

      @gratox1730@gratox17307 жыл бұрын
    • Zoey Richardson I definitely understand what you meant! Your words were written so eloquently being that I live in the south & we just had an instance where a slew of RACISTS white folks invaded a bday party for a black child & threatened to kill everyone at the party! • Not racist at all and also it's not a 'fact'. Being uncomfortable around 'x' race when you're not used to being surrounded by only/a large majority of 'x' race doesn't make you a racist. I have friend groups where I am the only black person in and sometimes I feel uncomfortable when out with them for a series of reasons. To name a few; > they drink way more than I can handle and believe in drinking to the point where you're paralytic. > we grew up in different cultures so sometimes communication can be misunderstood causing awkward situations. > They don't know much about black culture and sometimes ask ignorant questions. In my current job I am the only black guy here and often can't relate to their musical preferences, jokes etc etc and yh I do sometimes feel uncomfortable but that don't make me a racist. this film isn't about a black man being scared of caucasian people because they're caucasian lol. Please stop playing the race card when it's not necessary

    • Racial tension is super high right now, because of this no one really is trying to take a middle ground on the issue. Because of this anything that touches upon the issue of race is going to be super polarizing.

    • This is probably the most blind I've ever went to see a movie. I knew nothing about the movie except the short ads on tv (which didn't give away anything at all). It's a shame that the trailer gives away that the family is evil (they even give away that Rose is evil xd) but the twists are still hidden.

      @orangetoucan148@orangetoucan1486 жыл бұрын
    • TAmmem, me neither. A good thing I hadn't seen the trailer. There is a rule of thumb when it comes to US trailers: NEVER watch trailers for thrillers or horror movies, because the asshats at *the* *companies* who make the trailers insist on putting *everything* in the trailer, because "it shows *this* movie is different" but doing so actually ruins all the twists. Watching a few trailers for movies one is familiar with proves this rule to be true.
