  • My great grandfather homesteaded on Iron Creek 19 miles south of Salmon. He built a barn that is still standing along Hwy 93 just south of Salmon close to the Salmon Airport in 1916 , shortly before he died. He is buried at the Lambeth- Hussey Cemetery At Iron Creek, just south of Elk Bend, Idaho

  • I've ridden US-93 from Missoula into Idaho and US12 ( Lolo Pass) several times as well as having driven US 95 from Lewiston to I-84 in a semi truck several times. Absolutely beautiful part of the country and well worth the drive/ride regardless of your mode of transportation.

  • Lolo Pass is at the top of my favorite rides. You know it's gonna be good when you see the sign at the top of the pass notifying you of a twisty road for the next 99 miles. Been on all these roads (except for the dirt) and this is a great ride. Thanks for sharing.

Besides, a guy just flew into town in his private jet to tell me that your trips are just causing too much harm to the environment and you're just being selfish. You need to own nothing and be happy.

  • We did part of your route this past September, we started Highway 12 from Kooskia heading east and camped at several campgrounds along the highway. We then explored the Elk Meadows Road loop from Highway 12 back to Highway 12. From 12, we drive south along 93 until North Fork when we went west along the Salmon River. We turned south on the Panther River Road. At the summit, it became the Morgan Creek Road. Just stunning scenery and there was little traffic. This was my favorite loop of our 35 day camping trip. Thanks for sharing so I could relive that part.

My favorite small towns were Darby and Challis. There is supposed to be a great pizza at an RV park along 93 before North Fork but they were closed on the Monday or Sunday we were there. Thanks again. My advice is to not drive the ARCO to Minidoka Road. It was one of the roughest roads we have ever traveled. 7 hours to drive 62 miles. • @@stevegoetz5577 This road is gravel and some parts are just dirt. Make sure to check your tires before getting on this road! One of my tires was going flat and there was no place to pull off to fix it so we had to keep going! We made it but swore we would never go that way again!! Let me know if you are brave enough to try it.

  • Great video! Me and a group of six friends rode most all of these roads a few years back. That Hwy 12 from Kooskia ID to Lolo MT is absolutely amazing with is big sweepers and great pavement alongside rivers. Be sure to get gas because there's only one opportunity to get it (@Lochsa Lodge) in that 130 miles stretch.

  • These folks sound like foreigners. Lolo is my turf. Another of my favorites is the White Pine Scenic Drive from Potlatch/Harvard up to St. Maries and Coeur d'Alene. You used to have a full canopy of trees over your head on the highway. Like driving through a tunnel of foliage.

  • This was a very interesting video although it could have been more so how do you stopped in a few of the towns like Darby that you thought would be a great place to stop and also Hamilton was an interesting place with lots of history. Lolo does also have some history and a really nice information center that describes where Lewis and Clark stayed when they were coming through. Lots of the same scenery, but really good.

  • I did a similar ride. My wife wanted to visit her sister in Boise. We live in NE MN so my wife flew to Boise and I rode. It was all freeways and high speed as I earned and Iron Butt Bun Burner, Silver. 1500+ miles in less than 30 hours. We spent four fun days in the Boise area and when my wife flew home, I slowed the pace and rode up to Kooskia, then to Lolo and Kalispell for the night. This was at a much nicer pace. From Kalispell the next day it was the Going to the Sun Road through Great Falls and on to Glendive. The next day I returned home. US 12 was the the best. The Going to the Sun was fun, but I enjoyed the near solitude of 12 more. Great video, I enjoyed it thoroughly! Here's my video, but if I had it to do over, I'd narrate it rather than songs. • This isn't the first video I watched in the last three months of a motorcycle going through the Idaho Mountain Highways. I don't know what peace it is supposed to bring me to follow a motorcycle down that road. Three months ago today, my sister died on that highway on her motorbike. She and her husband were on their motorbikes on US12. It was their second time driving their bikes in Idaho. They were just there last year. Last year she hit a deer and sustained road rash, this year, she hit a semi truck and died immediately... the accident report says it was about 38 miles east of Kamiah. You mentioned it being a bucket list item. Well maybe it was for her. I guess the only way I can understand her passion is to watch these videos and see her passion through someone else's experience. I don't know if I will ever get to Idaho to see the place where my sister died... but through videos like this I can see the last moments of her life through your eyes. So thank you. Ruby from Alberta Canada

    • @@troutdogadventures7751 I guess she was too. I could never understand it and never appreciated it... (even through she took me on rides when we were younger.) I don't want to sour anyone's experience if they still love their two wheeled aventures. I realize the same could happen to me in my four wheels. We can't stop living because of the things that can kill us. Some people die in their sleep... and we need to do that every day. We just need to keep living and appreciate every moment .
