Everyone who is saying the girl has problems needs to know this. The cop was wrong no matter how Mia was acting. I can't believe how many people were being nitpicky with how she was with her dad. She dealt with the situation the best way she could and karma was on her side when the dad got busted by his colleague. Anyone who still judges her flaws after this has just as much a problem as her dad.

Even if she was 14 years old it still wouldn't have been ok to lock her in the closet, that's abuse and they even say so in a PSA that I watched once.
Being a cop,he is suppose to help people not lock his own daughter up in a room.

Well the daughter has a fault too! Her dad is reaching out to her in a approriate way but she shut him out. But still what her dad did is wrong.
She clearly had friends she wanted to see. I understand that family matters, but that means knowing the fine line between being firm and being controlling. The dad was too blind to see that. No wonder the family fell apart after the arrest.
He at best shld just take away her phone
I agree, but I do not feel safe around toxicity, especially Mia's. However, I do not tolerate Officer Matthews's actions that crosses the line. Instead, Officer Matthews should send Mia out on the streets for toxicity. I regret for being toxic and I barely forgive myself.

Whether the daughter had an attitude or not, the dad was still guilty of what he did. The dad was also a complete narcissist, mind you. If anything, he deserved to have his buttons pushed by Mia. If you really believe that being on neutral ground helps to assess the situation clearly, you don't actually know what is going on. This is when a controlling guy gets crazy she was 19 and she can get all the freedom she wants
But Mia being toxic to her father (i.e. having an attitude or backtalking) is also unacceptable.
@@ttrung0101 Right but frustration can happen it does not give him a right to lock her up in the closet he should've grounded her for bad behaviour but what he did was evil
Just because she is 19 doesn't give her the right to do whatever she wants while living under someone else's roof, she needs her own place if she wants to live by her own rules. The rude father had concern for his daughter that she might fool around at nights and end up in the street as a single mother. Unfortunately, he was overprotective. She does not seem a daughter who would listen to counselling.

Wait I can call the police if my parents bother me like that?!
Only it is for cruel treatment. Mia should have leave her father Officer Matthews's house because she is being toxic, then that is her choice.
Anger can be mis-directed. The cop obviously was not in control of his emotions. Parts of the storyline a bit contrived. The young woman needed her College friends as the Mom was not available. The houses on the property were separate? The young woman had her own dwelling? Why was the Fad handcuffed before calling in support fir the young woman. He clearly Regly acted inappropriately. She had no food, water, a cellphone or access to a bathroom while looked in the closet all day. More information to decipher this story would have been helpful. What were other complaints about this father/cop in his professional capacity? Lots of questions.
i don't think he should be arrested. I don't think police should be involved. In the first place Mia should not move in with her dad. I'm gonna assume he's had emotional problems before. I would have kept meetings public at a lunch place or just say i'm busy at work or school.

Not on daughter's side. Her attitude was horrible. But the issue is her father is in a terrible wrong in his reaction. At the end of the video, sergeant said he hear many horror stories of that father but didn't want to believe it. So, the father has serious issue. If he doesn't approve his daughter's behavior, he could just simply kick her out.
@@cheath8705 Oh sure, like that solves everything.
@Thurston Moran - Did you learn anything from this video? Locking another person in the closet sure got him in trouble. If he had kicked her out instead, he wouldn't have been arrested. After you've done all you can, there's no reason to keep your child home to create a toxic environment. I booted my 19 year old child out twice because he was disobedient. He learned life the hard way and became very responsible adult. Not every child will respond the same. Thankfully, my son responded well.

This was released before because I remember commenting on it. Did something happen to the original? Just curious. My original comment was that this story needed more information about the cop and his history with the police and the complaints lodged against him and also his history with his daughter. If he and his wife were recently divorced, where was his daughter? Why do they act as if they never lived in the same house? They act as if he didn’t raise her along with her mother. Not a big fan of this one.
yes i watched this too just few days ago i think.

Sometimes parents raise their children differently. Sometimes dads rule the household.
I felt there was something missing. It seemed like they had no contact for years. But his explanation didn't fit timeline. Then the cupboard. Felt like she knew what was about to happen. 2 domestic calls, who made them? Sorry but this nothing like usual.

How can this strict officer do this to his own daughter
The thing the dad did is bad but he told her not to go to her friend’s house and she disobeyed to protect her she could have been abused or killed.
Calm down, she was just meeting her friend
Eh college student of age... Rules for locking up the house and alarm system sure, but eating dinner as a family??? Nope. She isn't really a child.
Disgrace the to badge, uniform, and to himself thumbs up for the good cops
He is one very sick officer and he needs help. His daughter needs a safe place to be and it is certainly not with her father. So scary.
THE LADY THAT PLAY MIA IS A VERY GOOD ACTRESS AND SHE IS VERY PRETTY TOO
Although her character Mia is toxic, Isabella Gomez might be a nice person in real life. I mean, who knows?
He was wrong for holding her against her will but she also wrong for disrespecting her father like that 2 wrongs doesn't make right.
That’s beyond crazy
Sergeant Garret is such a great cop Saving Officer Mathews daughter from that stupid secret closet and Officer Mathew’s got what he deserved
Well what do you do with a girl like that? If she thinks she is adult she should get out and live on her own. Can'blame the father
With a girl like what? "I pay your rent so you have to spend time with me" not like she was out robbing cars. you either want to support your child or you don't.; but they'er not your slave because they live with you. She did nothing unreasonable in this video. Not like she was throwing parties in his house when he didn't want people in his house.

While I wouldn't lock my daughter up in a closet, you can hardly deny that this young woman had some attitude and needed to be taught some humility. Even as an adult, I wouldn't talk to my parents like that. ESPECIALLY when they have allowed me to stay at THEIR house.
finally someone is talking about how the daughter was being low key disrespectful since 98% of the comments are about the father. I'm not saying that the father was right. Ofc what he did was unacceptable, but the girl was being a little rude to her father at the start.

@Fait I would have just changed the locks and left her belongs on the curb, with a sign, you love your friends, go live with them , she’s so special, why her mother abandoned her to him then?
She's 19. He's treating her like she's a child. Yes if someone lives with you they still must respect your home and rules though
I draw fine line between try to reconnect and controlling, Dad should learn that his daughter is a college adult with her own life!!! Locking up your flesh and blood is the wrong move , it will estrange the relationship!!!!
