It's April 1st. No adult just goes and says "lock me in jail." You have to be born there to like it there.
Jail or prison? 🤔 Well, given the choice I'd rather go to jail as it sounds they give a better treatment than prison.

I switched to iPhone last month after using Android for my entire life, literally among the worst phones I've ever had in my opinion. Ah yes, it just works.
@@eurotec_ The iPhone is my least favorite part of the apple ecosystem. I'm still daily driving my S21 Ultra, and I like it much better than iPhone. But on the desktop side of things, I really do enjoy macOS. It just renders things so nicely. I think the iPhone is intended for people who don't use their phones for anything besides social media, calling, and texting. It's not a terrible phone for everyone; some people don't need to run console emulators, integrate with Linux, have a universal back button, or major customization, or any of the other cool android things that use techies love. Half of the people who use an iPhone have only touched their settings app to access Bluetooth, WiFi, and nothing else. If you consider the iPhone from a normie perspective, It's actually really cool. Apps render more consistently; the camera actually gets exclusive hardware access in social media (android looks compressed). Plus, Apple ironically has better wired audio support, since apps get exclusive access to on-board (for speaker) or USB DACs. Android handles audio via software, which can lead to (inaudible, but technically existent) distortion. I don't love the iPhone, but one cannot deny that it has some useful features, especially for audiophiles and social media gurus. But me personally, I like android for the customization, so I don't mind dealing with the inconsistent UI frameworks and lack of non-resampled audio. I'm sure plenty of iPhone veterans would wonder why Android still doesn't have good social media and camera integration or texting games. Just use the phone that suits your needs.

My review of this British comedy pilot. Exceptionally, Dry as all proper shows should be. The seasoning used by the chef could have had more rubbing used when applied to the meat. Eight colour filled buckets out of Ten.
This video changed my life, I didn’t have a mac before this, after watching titus run through this amazing desktop… I was blown away. I ran to my nearest best buy, signed up and got approved for their credit card, and bought my entire family macbook pros and the studio displays, obviously! Only thing is I can’t find out what hot key he used at the end there to flash his wallpaper and change the ui like that, must be a bug or somethin when he tried zooming…
Lack of sleep had me so confused and disillusioned with my place in the world and, with my foundational beliefs and self image crumbling, I spun into the aether, cascading into an ego death I instinctually knew there would be no recovery. Then I remembered I forgot what I was thinking about.
I love the sarcasm in this.
As someone who feels like old man yelling at cloud using a MacBook for work every day, this was great, and kind of therapeutic. I often feel that Mac is the way it is in many capacities because it doesn't want to be like the other girls.

LOL Been working in IT since the 80's, all manner of MS DOS and Windows, Apple Macs, UNIX such as Solaris, SunOS, UNIXware, DEC, and UNIX-like OS such as Linux and various BSD's since the mid 90's, on lots of different architectures, x86, amd64, SPARC, UltraSPARC, MIPS, ARM, aarch64, PowerPC, DEC Alpha, etc. I still choose to use Linux and the BSD's (Open/Free/Net) daily for server and workstation roles and use Window on those occasions when I have to for work, but for my daily driver at home and at work when I have a choice? MacOS OSX. Never looked back. Been loving it since the first release in 2001. Rock solid stable, a much saner attempt at a security focus than what MS dishes up, well supported and all of my Mac hardware (MacBook Pro's and Mac Minis) have worked flawlessly for the full duration they're supported with new OS releases and updates (typically 8+ years). After that they've continued to run just fine with Linux. The hardware has been excellent for me. Are Apple systems perfect? Hell no. Am I the sort to camp outside an Apple Store to get the latest offering from Apple? Hell no. Do I get behind everything they do? Hell no. Did I think Jobs was the Second Coming? Hell no! But... They've treated me WAY better than MS ever did and the feature set and experience has been WAY more consistent on the desktop than Linux and Linux distros for me. Debacles like, unannounced scheduler changes in the Linux stable kernel back around 2000/2001 (as an example, severely adversely affecting stability), radical changes to desktop environments (leading to distro hopping), and the nightmares created by systemd for me and my colleagues, have made me glad that MacOS has been a much saner environment to work within as a desktop system. The Linux kernel is developed separately from the userland and they're both developed separately from the desktop environments and as someone who has loved using Linux since '96, I'm sad to say that this separation of development, development goals and ideologies, can very much be felt. Compare this with MacOS OSX and later, and the whole modern MacOS experience feels cohesive. Just my opinion based on 35+ years using all these systems daily and by choice. No doubt some hatred will be forthcoming below, because I don't align whole heartedly with someone's team!...
I've also used all three platforms. Ranking the three as far as ease-of-use: macOS Zorin 17.1 Windows That said, I will no longer support Apple for reasons of privacy and political distaste. Microsoft is equally distasteful, on those metrics. (If anyone thinks a transnational software corporation isn't spying on users and selling their data, it's only because they haven't been caught yet.)
@@JohnCastleSmokeless What if I told you that I don't use LInux becasue Windows and Mac are spyware, but because its workflow can take the best aspects of Windows and Mac and throw it onto one 'perfect' desktop metaphor. Windows and Mac are spyware, but I just don't care. The only thing that is gonna completely end my use of Windows on bare metal is if copilot starts running at the kernel level (Windows 12 might do this). The only thing that will end Mac usage for me is if the new AI update can access the underlying system. Apple will be using Google's Gemini, which doesn't have a good track record (and is very un-Apple in terms of consistency). Otherwise, I'll keep enjoying my multiplatform setup, because they all have ups and downs.
apple is fine, but they activly work on to lock in users. all they did was just that far different that it is annoying. i used it for work as a programmer. having the keys ctrl + c vs cmd + c on different positions just pissed me off. finder is a real gem though. they glue their shit together. even macbooks. ive said it multiple times to my gf, i cant repair that, its glued. all they do is to press the extra bucks out of their costumers, whereever possible. windows works and you overall get the most bang for your bucks. but their update and software policies are bad. can remember when my pc started the windows 11 update even though i deactivated it. or my new work laptop started downloading candycrush. otherwise i still like it, im using the same system since windows 7. if one pc breaks down i just move my backup of the os to a new pc. thing is they could run with windows 10 for the next 20 years and just make it good, no need for new versions.
I mean, they've already said this is exactly what they plan to do, so idk what you are saying lol@@grantschilb8019
Nothing wrong with that. The best tool for the job is the best tool for the job, irrespective of who produces it. It's just my opinion that the downsides to those platforms diminishes the tools available on them from 'the best' to somewhere above or below the 'worth the tradeoff' line.@@grantschilb8019
ok i almost lost my mind for a sec before i realized the date
Well at least Chris didn't quit and goto WindowsFX (Linux FX).
Bash is still on Mac, it just isn't the default. Certainly I have it on my Mac, and I'm pretty sure I didn't install it on homebrew. I know on FreeBSD which I also use, and MacOS is based on, csh is the default, and if you want bash, you have to install it from ports. FreeBSD also has extended attributes. and they are pretty useful if you are using it as a Samba server.
The thing about April 1st, is the jokes are meant to make the audience believe it
Now this just gave me a good laugh. Thanks, Chris, I really needed it. Greetings from Brazil!
Immediately knew something was off when high contrast was enabled… also, if you hold option then click the green, it full screens while you can see the dock and menu bar.
Revisited my macbook white 2010 7.1. Windows kept on installing the nvdia driver even after disabling automatic installs causing it to boot loop. Eventually gave up and found opencore. Was able to get Big Sur. App store, wifi and bluetooth is now working. Works reasonably well with 8gb ram for normal everyday use.

Seeing this 10 days after the event but was laughing within the first minute... The funniest part is the sprinkles of truth. I'm a developer and use basically everything (Mac, Windows, Linux, Android) but a Mac is the best client for DAWs and Windowing actually doesn't matter much in that use case! Unfortunately most developers are forced to use Windows or Mac because the companies they work for don't support Linux desktop. As a result, Linux doesn't have the desktop numbers needed to make it feasible for vendors to fully polish the necessary company-wide apps.

Since getting used to Linux as a daily driver, I forgot how limiting Apple was. It has been so many years since using Apple anything, happy April fools! I have used Linux daily for several months and reading a lot about using Bash, actually wrote my first script yesterday! So much easier for doing complex file management tasks, just have the computer copy, delete, rename, create directories, etc etc etc. For me really learning Linux (command line and shell scripting) is about a 5 to 10 year project. Want to learn Python and C++ someday. Dust off that poor MacMini lol...
Having the privilege of being a Apple hipster is great.
First thought: "TRAITOR!" Second thought: Oh, riiiight...
First April's fool joke that is actually informative. I had no idea the mac UI was so disfunctional!
It is until it isn't. Stock macOS is terrible, but with a few plugins, it puts windows to shame, and has far smoother window animations that most Linux systems.
and how expensive are they? @@grantschilb8019
@@grantschilb8019100%. When I bought my M1 Max I had planned to install Ashai Linux because I hated the UI. After installing the Rectangles plugin and a third party terminal host I honestly prefer it over Windows.
@@grantschilb8019 So it is dysfunctional and requires additional files to be good
@@Locked101 Linux is literally the same, most of the out of box distros and DEs are terrible for my use case. Stock KDE (windows rip off), Stock GNOME (resource hog), Mate (I don't like Gnome 2), XFCE (good but requires separate themes to get consistent high DPI), Sway/i3 (requires extensive configs to fit my needs), Cinnamon (Same issue as KDE), Budgie (same issues as GNOME); the point is, I like zero of the default configs on Linux. Heck, I prefer just a bash prompt with no GUI to the terrible default UIs on distros. I finally ended up settling for KDE, but only after extensively reconfiguring the panel to contain beautiful GPU accelerated effects, live music stats, and neon icons. Oh, and adding tons of hot corners, because that was my favorite thing about macOS. So, I'd actually say Linux starts worse than stock macOS, but ends up being an overall better system with enough time, patience, and knowledge. Don't slouch on macOS though. Just because you can't access the underlying system doesn't mean it is a terrible system. If you don't like it, don't use it. Plus, there are plenty of flaws with Linux that no one talks about. Linux has a fundamentally flawed audio stack, inconsistent UI frameworks, too many app install methods, the list goes on. I wish people would stop believing x operating system is superior to y. There is no superior OS, they all have ups and downs. So to answer your question, yes macOS requires extra stuff to be ideal, but Linux does too. And macOS is not actually dysfunctional out of the box. Neither is Linux. Both are a horrible experience for me out of the box. Plenty of average consumers and techies buy Macbooks and keep stock settings and are content. Just like plently of people enjoy out of the box distro configs. I don't fall into either camp, and probably never will.
